Just wanted to share this because the number is kinda insane when I think about it now.

I’m an international student in the US and over the course of my job search I’ve probably submitted somewhere around 7,500 applications. I stopped keeping the exact count after a while.

A LOT of ghosting, automated rejections, failed interviews, interviews I thought I did well in and still got rejected, resume changes, Leetcode, applying to the same companies again and again etc.

And somehow the search ended with two offers from Amazon and Apple.

The funniest part is that I didn’t even apply to the Apple role. A recruiter found my profile/resume and reached out to me about an AI/ML Software Engineer position.

Went through the technical interviews, the loop, manager conversations and eventually got the offer.

Amazon also came through with an SDE offer around the same time.

I ended up choosing Apple.

Not really posting this as a “never give up!!!” thing because honestly 7,500 applications is fucking absurd and nobody should need to do that.

Just wanted to put one data point out there for anyone currently getting destroyed by this market.

7,499 applications can go nowhere and application 7,500 can completely change the outcome.

They have given a severance package, but given the job market, I'm very anxious.

I’m a frontend engineer and I’m pretty damn good at UI/UX. I’ve also gotten really good at spec driven AI development, basically taking a product idea or spec and turning it into a polished, working product with AI assisted development.

An Atos recruiter contacted me on LinkedIn about a Software Engineer role, started the conversation properly and asked me to send my CV by email. He even sent me the JD, so I emailed my CV across. Next day I checked LinkedIn and the guy had literally blocked me. 😅

I’ve seen recruiters ghost candidates before, but blocking someone after asking for their CV is honestly a completely different level of ghosting.

I almost always tailor my resume to the specific position I'm applying to as I have experience that leaps into a lot of different areas (AI Engineer, Full-Stack Engineer, Data Engineer, ML Engineer). My work with AI is more extensive than this resume makes it out to be, but I hear a lot of places don't want to see AI tools on the resume.

I started programming in 2016, have worked with many data pipelines, legacy systems, full-stack web applications, distributed systems, and AI modeling (a lot of 'old AI' spanning all sorts of neural network architectures, LLM fine-tuning, VLM fine-tuning, and made an LLM with only standard math libraries for a research project).

My current role is ending, and I've been searching for a new position for over 4 months. I've sent out around 700 applications and have only had interviews with 4 different companies (I made it 3/4 rounds on one of them and one of them was an asynchronous test which I passed and made it to the 2nd round). I'm targeting remote and have been applying to some onsite/hybrid positions in Richmond, VA because I'll be relocating there but I don't see many positions that don't require 10+ YOE there.

The job boards I primarily use are: greeenhouse, hiringcafe, ashby, lever, other non-ats job boards, and custom scrapers. Previously used linked in a bit but after looking into when most the jobs were posted I found out that over 3/4 of the apps I sent out there were ghost listings or actually posted months ago.

I'm a 2027 BTech IT graduate and honestly, I'm getting genuinely scared about what happens after graduation , I'm not even able to sleep.

Campus placements have been really unpredictable. Weird shortlisting, getting filtered out before the OA, and sometimes not even getting the chance to prove yourself has made the whole process really discouraging.

I have an 8.3 CGPA, internship experience, and projects in Java, Spring Boot, backend/full-stack development, and I'm still actively improving my DSA and technical skills. I know I have a lot more to learn, but I'm serious about working and willing to put in the effort.

I'm now actively looking off-campus for decent software/tech opportunities. I'm open to SDE, backend, full-stack, graduate roles, internships, internship-to-full-time opportunities, startups and remote roles.

I genuinely don't care about a fancy company name right now. I want a good opportunity where I can work, learn, contribute and prove myself.

I’m wondering if anyone here has recently interviewed with Methods Business and Digital Technology, particularly for a Java Developer / Software Engineer role, and could share their experience with the process and how long it took to hear back after the final stage.

I recently completed all three stages of the interview process for a Java Developer position. I came away from the final interview feeling really positive, and I was told there were no concerns/issues from their side, so naturally I was quite hopeful that things had gone well.

It’s now been a week and a few days since my final interview. I’ve followed up with the recruiter twice by email to ask for an update, but unfortunately I haven’t received a response yet.

I completely understand that hiring decisions can take time, especially if there are internal approvals or other candidates being considered. I’m mainly trying to get a sense of whether this is normal for Methods and how long people have waited to hear back after completing the final stage.

I’ve been finding the job search particularly difficult recently, so having gone through three stages and feeling quite positive about the opportunity, the uncertainty has been a little daunting especially when it means not knowing whether I should mentally move on and start applying elsewhere again.

For anyone who currently works at Methods or has interviewed there recently:

• How long did you wait to hear back after your final interview?
• Did you receive an offer/rejection/update by email or through the recruiter?
• Is it normal for the process to go quiet for a week or two?

I’d really appreciate any insight or experiences, particularly from anyone who has been through the Java/Software Engineering hiring process.

I'm building a knowledge base for RAG and I'm looking for practical advice from people who have done this in real projects.

How do you usually handle:

• Chunking: fixed size, semantic, sections/headings, parent-child, etc.?
• Metadata: what fields are actually useful for filtering/retrieval?
• Hybrid search: do you combine semantic search with BM25/keyword search?
• Reranking: do you retrieve from both and rerank the combined results?
• Updating knowledge: how do you replace/version old information?
• Scaling: how do you structure things so adding new types of information later is easy?

I'm particularly interested in systems where the knowledge base keeps growing over time.
