Announcement Ignore Private Messages Suggesting Laptops

The primary aim of r/SuggestALaptop is to provide a safe and transparent platform for suggesting laptops. Affiliate linkers are marked as such so that you are aware of the monetary incentive involved when making a purchase using affiliate links.

However, we are seeing an increasing number of cases where users posting on this subreddit are being targeted with unsolicited private messages containing links to laptops.

Such messages are best ignored for several reasons:

  1. Lack of quality control: We have no way of vetting suggestions sent via private messages. Moreover, these suggestions are not subject to the same level of public scrutiny that applies to suggestions posted in the subreddit, which are open for all to see and discuss.
  2. Hidden monetary incentive: Often such messages contain unmarked affiliate links, and these links might not even point to systems that are best suited to your requirements.
  3. Scams: Scammers often target unsuspecting users via private messaging. We do not want you to get scammed.

If you do happen to receive unsolicited messages suggesting laptops in private, please report the offending user to the mod team by sending us a screenshot of the message.

Thank you,

The r/SuggestALaptop Mod Team

Tech Support šŸ”§āš™ļø Looking for a good-condition used laptop – Budget ₹45k

• Upvotes

Hey everyone, I'm looking for a good-condition used gaming/creator laptop around ₹45,000 max.

I'm currently in a difficult financial situation and honestly, I've made some bad financial decisions in the past, so I don't have much money left to work with. I really need a laptop now because I need it for my studies.

I'm pursuing a degree in Animation, and I need to work with software like Autodesk Maya, Blender, rendering, 3D modelling, etc. Because of that, I specifically need a laptop with a dedicated NVIDIA GPU. An RTX 3050 would be ideal, but I'm open to other options if the performance is good enough.

My requirements:

\- Budget: ₹45,000 maximum

\- Preferably RTX 3050 / RTX 2050 or better

\- At least 16GB RAM (or upgradeable)

\- 512GB SSD minimum

\- Decent H-series Ryzen 5/i5 or better

\- Good thermal condition

\- No major damage or repaired motherboard/GPU

\- Original charger preferred

\- Bill/box and remaining warranty would be a huge plus

I'm completely okay with a 2nd-hand laptop as long as it's genuinely in good condition.

If anyone is selling one, or knows someone who is, please comment or DM me with the model, specs, age, condition, location and asking price.

I know ₹45k isn't a huge budget for this kind of laptop, but I'm genuinely trying to make the best out of what I have right now. Any leads or advice would be greatly appreciated. šŸ™

Laptop Request -Others Need laptop recommendations for YouTube, video editing & streaming — everything I like is out of budget

• Upvotes

I’m looking to buy a new laptop and would appreciate some advice.

My main use cases will be:

YouTube work, especially for my cricket channel

Video editing (Premiere Pro/DaVinci Resolve)

Live streaming/streaming sports content

OBS and screen recording

Photoshop/Canva and basic graphics

Lots of Chrome tabs and research

MS Office and regular work

Some light gaming occasionally

Want the laptop to last at least 4–5 years

My budget is around ₹60,000–₹90,000, but I can stretch a little if the upgrade is genuinely worth it.

The problem is that whatever I feel is suitable for my requirements seems to be out of my budget. Laptop prices also seem quite high/expensive right now, so I’m confused about what I should do.

Should I:

Compromise on the specifications?

Wait for prices/sales to improve?

Buy an older-generation model?

Consider a used/refurbished laptop?

Increase my budget and invest in something that will last 4–5 years

For my usage, should I prioritize:

A powerful CPU with integrated graphics,

An RTX 4050/other dedicated GPU, or

Better display, build quality and battery life?

How important is a dedicated GPU for OBS streaming, video editing and encoding? Would an RTX 4050 make a noticeable difference for my use, or would a good integrated-graphics laptop be enough?

Also, are there any specific Lenovo/HP/Dell/ASUS models you would recommend at current Indian prices?

Basically, I’m trying to figure out what is the smartest way to buy a laptop right now without overspending, while still getting something capable enough for YouTube, editing and streaming.

Would really appreciate recommendations from people who have actually used these laptops for YouTube, editing and streaming.

I am a 20-something who’s interested in learning photoshop but will mainly use this laptop for writing, job applications, and daily use. My old friend has a MacBook Pro that I loved using but I didn’t use it regularly so I don’t know what potential problems it may have. Is a MacBook Pro worth the buy or is there something less expensive that could give me what I’m looking for? I’m mostly going for practicality and a laptop that will last for a while. Thanks!

Tech Support šŸ”§āš™ļø ₹2.8L ($3,400) Budget: Dual Setup (MacBook Pro 14" + Revived TUF A17) or One Beast Windows Laptop (Legion Pro 7i / Helios 16)?

Hey everyone, looking for sanity-check recommendations on my next laptop setup after returning a faulty machine.

My Current Situation

Just got a ₹2.88 Lakh (~$3,400 USD) refund after returning an ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 16 (thermal degradation / liquid metal pump-out issues drove me nuts).

I still own my older backup laptop: ASUS TUF A17 (2020) — Ryzen 7 4800H, 64GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB NVMe. It has dried thermal paste and lags in GTA Online, but the core silicon is still functional.

I also have an unused 2TB Samsung 980 Pro PCIe 4.0 SSD sitting on my desk.

My Daily Workload & Priorities

Extreme Multitasking: i usually keep many browser tabs open simultaneously across ~3 or 4 desktop windows, plus coding and lightweight Linux VMs (via UTM/Docker).

Display Quality: I got used to the 1,100-nit Mini LED screen on the SCAR 16. I really don't want to go back to a washed-out, 250-nit 60% sRGB panel for daily reading and media.

Gaming: Mostly GTA Online (needs native anti-cheat support), The Witcher 3, and Cyberpunk 2077.

Reliability & Thermals: Zero tolerance for liquid metal dry-outs, throttling, or jet engine fans when just doing productivity work.

The Two Routes I'm Debating Option A: The Dual-Machine Split (MacBook Pro 14" + Cleaned TUF A17) MacBook Pro 14" (Pro Chip, 24GB or 48GB Unified RAM): Daily driver for work, web browsing and media. Completely silent, 18+ hour battery, and that 1,600-nit Liquid Retina XDR Mini LED display. Revive the TUF A17: Deep clean, repaste with Honeywell PTM7950, and slot my spare 2TB Samsung 980 Pro into the second M.2 bay (giving me 3TB total storage). Keep it plugged in at the desk strictly as a native Windows rig for GTA Online and 64GB RAM tasks. Cost: ~$2,500 – $3,000 (Leaves some cash surplus from the refund).

Option B: The Single Windows Battlestation Buy a single high-tier machine like the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i (RTX 4080) or Acer Predator Helios 16 (Mini LED edition). Pop my 2TB 980 Pro into slot 2, upgrade RAM to 64GB, and do everything on one machine. Concerns: Legion standard panels are 500-nit IPS (not true Mini LED/OLED contrast), and I worry about long-term fan noise/heat wear repeating my SCAR 16 nightmare

Questions for You:

For people using mac for multitasking across multiple windows, does macOS unified memory handle this better than a 64GB Windows machine long-term?

Is reviving a 4800H + 64GB RAM laptop with PTM7950 still practical for 1080p casual gaming in 2026, or is juggling two machines more hassle than it's worth?

Would you split the workload or just sink the refund into a single Legion Pro 7i / Helios 16?

Appreciate any insights!

Laptop Request -Others Guys I am stuck...suggest me which laptop to buy!!!

I wanted to buy macbook air m5 at 1 lakh 10 k inr, but after apple price increase its costing 1.5L so that's out of question now after a lot of research I am stuck between 3 laptops, apple macbook neo 512gb variant (80k with student id) , samsung book 5 base model 512gb, asus vivobooo s14 512gb

My use case is pretty basic, watch video lectures, netflix and basic laptop everyday needs that's it...I am going to medical school...so I would want a laptop that stays with for a good time and doesn't give me trouble....I want a metal/aluminium build only, NO PLASTIC body at all..I am sick of it

I have a samsung ecosystem (s9 fe plus tab and Samsung phone s23) but apple is apple so I am stuck in this decision

Requirements:

512gb

16gb (can compromise with 8gb as well)

Screen quality should be good

Good battery life

Metal/aluminium build

Laptop Request US 1440p Gaming Laptop

I'm looking for a laptop recommendation that could be a replacement for a desktop PC. Main use will be gaming but would prefer something that can toggled to be silent (like a ROG Zephyrus using GHelper/ArmoryCrate)

  • Country

United States.

  • Budget

Roughly $1500

  • Are you open to refurbs/used options?

Yes, if it's from a trusted retailer

  • Screen size

No preference, will be plugged into Monitor/TV most of the time.

  • Weight limit

Prefer lighter and can fit in a backpack, but no strong preference.

  • Purpose

Gaming

  • Form factor

No preference, prefer noise toggle between silent/less performance and loud/high performance (similar to Zephyrus GHelper/ArmouryCrate)

  • Intended usage

Looking to at least have a stable high/ultra 1440p/60fps or 1080p/144hz experience in most newer games (Crimson Desert, Stellar Blade, potentially 30fps GTAVI, etc.).

  • Desired battery life

No preference, will be plugged in most of the time (bypass charging preferred)

  • Please list, in order of most important to least important, the priority between Size, Weight, Performance, Battery life

Performance > Size > Weight > Battery Life

  • Info/Requirements

Mentioned this throughout, but a strong preference for silent toggle (so I can play next to sleeping partner). This essentially will be used as a portable PC, so there's no strong preference on screen at all. It could literally not have a screen and that would be fine lol

Laptop Request US PC/Laptop or Macbook?

I need some different perspectives.Ā

I am someone who’s grown up using all Apple devices. For the past couple years though I’ve been using a gaming laptop instead of an Xbox or PS4. I’ve started learning how Windows works and I’ve learned that things are just simpler and make more sense on Windows and android devices. Apple has a lot of power and is power efficient, but Windows works with basically everything as long as the system components are strong enough.Ā

I am wanting to get a laptop or PC for the future.

I like my Laptops to have enough power to do some decent workloads throughout the day without having to plug it in constantly.Ā

The type of games I play:

  • rainbow 6 siege
  • Subnautica 2
  • Marvel Rivals
  • Minecraft

I am also in media work where I edit 4k footage.Ā

Is there a laptop that can handle my work and also my games that has decent battery life?(obviously only gaming while plugged in)

If not, if I bought PC parts online, what should I look at? I’m not looking to make it beautiful or add all the new stuff, I just need the parts to make it work reliably and to keep going for a few years.Ā

What are your thoughts/suggestions?
