There's a lot of manga that never get anime despite a decent run, or a cool setting. Or some that only get a partial adaption due to whatever circumstances at the time. Or even manga that got an adaption that changed waaaaay too much and actually ruined the story.

• In Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo's case, parents were apparently upset kids were imitating it when they played, so it was canceled. But it was a very popular manga that ran quite a long time after the anime's cancellation. It even got a sequel manga at one point! This was a Toonami show, and it'd be great to see it turned into a new Toonami original that continued where the old one left off.

• Rosario+Vampire is an example of the third one, where the anime seemed to go out of its way to completely disrespect the manga and changed the entire story. It wasn't on Toonami, but I think it would make a great Toonami original if they got re-adaption going that was more faithful.

• Alien Nine had a short four part OVA that covered volume 1, and was kind of the inspiration for this post. It's a sci-fi series that feels like it was not given the attention it deserved and it'd be a great fit for Toonami as an original series. It has Evangelion vibes and even some Lain vibes mixed in, as well as an interesting art style and premise. It also takes place in 2014-2025 despite coming out in the late 90s, so the tech is all delightfully chunky.

Jazzmastersamurai on YouTube made a heartfelt and emotional tribute to Peter Cullen and this almost makes me wanna shed some tears Cohen because Peter was one of those voices that made you love Toonami.

Thank you, for making the best Toonami narrative promo announcer of all time when many of us as kids watching Toonami on Cartoon Network during our childhoods (including myself and my young brother) way back in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Rest in Peace Peter Cullen (1941-2026), and thank you for the memories.

The editing and music are premium classic Toonami, but Peter Cullen’s excellent narration does an incredible job of pushing it over the top. Rest in peace.

Outside of modern Toonami, does any know if any channels, streaming services, or online homes where people are broadcasting similar content?

Specifically, curated old anime and similar soundscapes(breakcore, jungle, house, etc). Old Toonami and old [AS] really feel like such a unique moment and space and I've not seen anyone else try to keep those vibes going (other than the mothership itself of course).

I have very recently had the opportunity to start watching the block again. I am thankful for the Superman marathon, as it means I'm not missing anything new while my wife and I get accustomed to having a new baby. I'm super excited for Scavengers, rain and can't wait to get back into the block.
