Been working on this large piece based on traditional Korean folk art, the flying birds are a motif you see in old palace textiles and paintings. The fun challenge was mixing two depths in on piece: the brown background patterns are tufted flat and subtle, while the colorful birds are built up with high pile so they pop right off the surface.😀

Probably took me longer than it should but its finally complete🙌🏼

Best way to start tuffing and best budget projector for beginners. I would like to start making commissions but also do anime rugs and tuffing cases for computers and tablets. No looking for suppliers but if you know any ot would be helpful

I'm a bit of a newbie to tufting, so i tried to punch needle the smaller black areas then go round it with the white thread, however as you can see it has mate it look horrible, even after ive shaved it down, i can still move all the black thread into the middle but is there a way of stopping this in the future, for small letters and such as a tufting gun is a bit too cumbersome for such small text. and pointers are greatly appreciated :)

100$ pretty much brand new only did 2-3 test lines but only going to be using cut pile.

I remember i kept doubting myself a year ago to whether if ill ever get better, just recently decided to remake one of my first rugs and I can say im proud of myself and can definitely see my improvement over time! 🙏

Reinforced the triangles with heavyweight backing, to hold up the shape a bit better. Stuffed with yarn cutoff's and polyfill.

So I guess this is technically my 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th "rugs". My first rug came out pretty well, but it was thin, so I was worried about carving it. This time, the goal was to practice carving. I ran the gun with 3 strands while I tufted them all because my first rug felt too sparse with 2 stands.

I realized I forgot to flip the images after I drew them all on the cloth, but I just went with it cuz the focus is carving afterwards. I first just dove in on the mountains(red) rug with the electric trimmers and absolutely butchered it, so bad, I'm not gonna show it off. After watching a couple YouTube videos I picked up some tips and decided to try them out on the island(blue) rug. The method of brushing one way and cutting the overhang with scissors before jumping in with the electric trimmers at the right angle. This one came out a little better, but I'm still not liking the look for some reason. I've learned I need better scissors and to be a bit cleaner with the lines on the gun.

After that I tried using that weird plastic leveling guide to level the rug out. It kinda worked, but still wasn't perfect after like 2 passes over the whole rug from different angles, so I ditched the plastic guide and tried leveling it by hand, which worked a little better for me.

Anyways, if you're still reading, I've got 3 more rugs to ruin. Any other tips or suggestions on carving these rugs in a way that'll really make them pop? Or am I just being too much of a perfectionist cuz I almost always hate my own work.

Lower parts of the cookie, outline and eyes are complete. Time to get both of my long piles going. Really nervous out this because I’ve only been successful with my long piles just testing them a couple of days ago. The first time I used them they ate through the cloth. But, gotta see what can be done.

Hi everyone! I'm pretty new to tufting and am enjoying making pet portraits. These are my first 4 tries... please could you guys give me tips to improve!

I think the part I've found trickiest so far is the outline on the Spaniel (yellow background) and defining the pointy shapes well.

I've progressed a bit since my first few rugs, though it's not perfect. I'm actually quite happy with how this one turned out. I think I'm ready to commit to more details now that I have a better understanding of carving.

Super proud of this, just had an idea and wanted to make a modular piece of art. Still need to do a little more shaving but I made this for my sister’s best friend for her wedding coming up in a week so I rushed this lowkey. Also had to use one hand because I was using left over cloth but I’ve heard people using one hand normally. I need to wear gloves if I do that because I got some weird calluses on my hand (index knuckle and side index palm. Please give constructive criticism if you have any tips!

Finished my second rug ever. Mixed yarn, mostly acrylic and cotton. Original artwork: Bones "UNRENDERED" album cover. Screenprinted lyrics on felt backing aswell as screenprinted patch. Waterfall edge with cotton twill tape, D-rings for wall mounting.

Tufting was hell since i traced it in "pixelated" patterns. About 25+ colors and hundreds of hours of work in total, still learning as i go. Size ~90x90cm.
