My mum’s eldest brother has been sick for quite some time. Recently, he had been staying at his mother’s (my grandmother’s) home, where my mum and some of his siblings were helping take care of him.
His wife, who normally lives with him at their main home, was also there helping look after him.
Then, all of a sudden, she said her husband was tired of staying at his mother’s place and wanted to leave. She asked for money for fuel, and my mum made a Bank to Momo....
She then left with him, telling the family they were going to Mulago Hospital.
From that point, she switched off her phones and the family couldn't reach her for THREE DAYS.
Nobody knew where my uncle was. Even other family members & his wives who wanted to help take care of him couldn't get through to her or find out where he had been taken.
Then yesterday, after being unreachable for three days, she suddenly called and told the family that my uncle had died.
And then she switched her phones off again.
This morning, she called again and said she had taken his body to a hospital somewhere around Wobulenzi/Luwero in mortuary. I'm not certain of the exact hospital because I've been getting most of the information through my mum.
This is where the whole thing becomes extremely disturbing.
She left Gayaza saying they were going to Mulago. She then disappeared with a sick man for three days, switched off all her phones, and the family had no idea where they were. Then suddenly, she announces that he has died and that his body is somewhere around Luwero/Wobulenzi.
There are also concerns because she is the person who lives in the main family home and knows where many of my uncle's properties, documents and other belongings are.
We are now wondering whether something happened to him during those three days. There are all kinds of allegations and suspicions circulating, but we don't actually know what happened yet. I personally think she took him in a shrine... to seek treatment.
I'm not saying she killed him. I'm saying the circumstances are strange enough that the family wants answers.
Why was a seriously ill man taken by force.. & arrogantly?
Why were all her phones switched off for three days?
Where exactly was my uncle during those three days?
Which hospital was he taken to, if any?
And why was the family only informed after his death?
At this point, I think the family needs to stop speculating and establish the facts. The exact location where he was taken, hospital records, the circumstances of his death, and potentially a post-mortem should all be established before the burial.
Meanwhile, they're preparing for burial..
