Discussion The weekly 'No Stupid Questions' post - Sun 30 Aug 2026.

This is the weekly 'No Stupid Questions' post for all the small questions that you have concerning Zwift. No matter how stupid you think they are, we have probably all asked these questions.

If your post wasn't previously answered you should post early in this thread as it might have been posted too late (new posts start Sunday 0900 GMT).

Note: Don't be afraid to ask questions during the week, this is just for the simpler questions. For example "How do I give multiple ride ons at once? "..."You do this by pressing the character arrow on the map screen of the companion app". If you require a more detailed response then it is probably better answered in its own post.

A few questions of a beginner

Hi folks.

I am so new to Zwift I even haven‘t built up my trainer yet. But there are already a few questions in my head.

Do I need any other accounts beside the Zwift one? Or are there any highly recommended?

What about trainingplans on Zwift? Are they any good for beginners?

About Zwift and Garmin:

Will the trainings be automatically be transfered from Zwift to Garmin?

Will Garmin (I have a Forerunner 265 watch) calculate things like bike VO2max, training readiness… if the activities are shared?

Will I get daily suggested workouts from my watch?

Thank you very, very much in advanced

Racing Score Calculation Question??

Post image
1 Upvotes

This is from a Z Racing Twilight Crit race earlier today. 330-450 racing score group, 13.3 miles, 5 laps plus lead-in. What is the actual formula for Racing Score changes? It seems crazy that 1st and 2nd go up 61 and 75 but 3rd goes up 8. The 17th place finisher went up 17, but no one else moved double digits. I finished 41 out of 59, 1:38 back from the winner and I went from 411 to 409 score. I guess it really doesn’t matter since I’m mainly pack fodder anyway, but I wish there was more transparency.

Discussion I'm thinking about getting into Zwift...

I'd like to get into the indoor cycling game (pun intended) in the most cost effective way possible. Let me know if I'm going about this wrong, but here is what I'm thinking: Buy a Kickr Core 1 from Wahoo through their Certified Reconditioned program for $350, and the Zwift Cog and Click Upgrade Kit for $50, and then use these along with a bicycle I already own. I'd love to get the Zwift Ride Smart Frame, but its pretty expensive for me at $800. Plus I could always buy it in the future if I wanted to upgrade this budget set up. Thoughts? Or am I on the right track here...

Hardware Wahoo KICKR Core 2 clicking noise with MTB chain

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi need some help. With my road bike I have zero issues. When I mounted my Rose PDQ Hardtail I get some weird clicking noises when the chain moves. Weirdly it goes away when I remove some of the chain tension. Any body knows what this is? I am not using it atm in fear of damaging something.

* Still 137 kg after last week's AdZ (actually gone up to 139 but haven't updated Zwift, increase not entirely unexpected with a massive session).

FTP Increase What test fits best your FTP value ?

So far I have been doing 20’ testing and my FTP value is relatively well reflected since I can manage my workouts training threshold properly.

I kinda hate 20’ test and wanna switch to a ramp test.
In fact, at the end of my training block I plan to test on different days:
- 20’ test
- a ramp test
- 1’ and 5’ power (on different days).

I am mainly interested if anyone here has like me massive 1’ power and how well their ramp test predicts their FTP. I am expecting a massive overestimate.
I am above the 90th percentile for 1’ power and around the 66th percentile for FTP compared to my age group.

I’d also be interested if it’s possible to find a corrected formula to correct my FTP estimate given I will have all the data.

Technical help Wahoo kickr core and 4iii crank showing different power

I have noticed that my Wahoo kickr core and single-sided 4iii crank produce quite different power numbers, the average power for a ride is usually 20W higher when measured with the crank. I know that some watts are lost due to drivetrain efficiency but I still have a new 105 groupset with a waxed chain so it doesn't explain such a big difference. I usually use the trainer on erg mode so maybe that might cause the difference because Zwift doesn't show higher power than the erg target?

Scraping noise from rear drivetrain after mounting bike on KICKR Core cog n click?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone,

I have my bike on my Wahoo KICKR Core cog n click and noticed this scraping noise coming from the rear area when I pedal. I’m not sure if it’s the cassette/derailleur, chain, or something with the trainer setup.

The bike is a Canyon Grizl with a 12×142 mm rear axle, and I’m using the 142 mm adapter on the KICKR.

The noise is shown in the attached video. Does anyone know what this sounds like or what I should check first?

Could the rear derailleur/cassette alignment be off because of the trainer setup?

Thanks!

Cog/Click to Cassette

I have had my kickr core with the cog and click for a couple months. I used to have an old kickr with the cassette but it unfortunately died.

I have had nothing but problems with the click controllers. I waste 10-15 multiple times a week fiddling with the batteries of these stupid things. Support has sent me new controllers and they all are junk.

Has anyone converted the cog/click to a cassette version? If so any advise?

Hi, I am a complete amateur to indoor cycling and am looking to get a setup sorted. Can someone give advice if this setup selling as a package deal is worth it? Thank you very much! I believe this is a kickr core 1

PRL Full

Hello
On this upcoming Zwift season for me im going all in to increase my FTP and get a higher endurance mainly to survive Mallorca 312 in April next year.
One of these tasks would be to finally complete the PRL Full Zwift route which is the longest, but not sure if it's the hardest. Anyway for people that have completed it. What are your tips on this? Both fueling, what bike, what zones, breaks etc.
Also might do Uber Pretzel and the new route called France Classic Fondo?

Zwift Cross-Progression with Rouvy Issue

Hi, yesterday I saw a video from Rouvy about the latest patch 4.7, which includes cross-progression between the two platforms (Zwift and Rouvy). I understand this to mean that kilometers logged in one app are visible in the other, and vice versa.

And here's my problem.

I've paired the two apps; they recognize each other, and I also have both connected to Wahoo. While I see kilometers logged on Zwift in my weekly summary in Rouvy, it doesn't work the other way around. I don't see kilometers logged on Rouvy in Zwift. I'd also like to ride the new routes for an indoor/outdoor event, but the kilometers logged on Rouvy aren't visible in the event progress or in Companion.

Can anyone help me?

Triceps fatigue

Bought a Zwift Ride last week and I love it. New to cycling as well. I know triceps fatigue is a very common topic. People usually say : Adjust your bike and strenghten you core.

I adjusted my Zwift ride as the guide indicated (Basically Q everywhere). I have been hitting the gym for years and I am muscular but a bit overweight for cycling (6'1, 94kg) so I know i really don't have the best shape for cycling. Big proportion of my weight are in my shoulders and upper body. My triceps and core are strong.

A lot of my weight are on my hands when cycling. Even if I squeeze my core, as soon as I remove my hands, I immediately fall forward. After 5 minutes of cycling my triceps are fatigued and must continue without hands but immediately feel my quads becoming weaker when cycling without hands on the handlebars.

Should I just move the handlebars towards me and maybe upward ? Try a position that is more comfortable or my body will just get used to it ?

Thank you.

Core Training (not Kickr Core, but YOUr core)

I've been noticing that sinc I have moved to maybe 75% Zwift and 25% IRL for my riding/training, that my core has been losing come conditioning. My assumption is mainly that Zwift, or any trainer does not engage the core nearly as much or as well as balance, and fuller muscular engagement there because, hey, no need to balance...

Anyone finding the same thing? Zwift is tons more convenient, but seems I'm losing a bit for the convenience...

Technical help Storing away a Zwift bike help

I know this is sacrilege, and I have absolutely loved my time on my Zwift bike, but due to a new little sproglet leading to no time to do any exercise other than commuting (for the time being), it is with a heavy heart I have decided to retire the Zwift bike for the next year or so, in the hope i can bring it back down from the loft after and find a better place in the house for it.

My question is - how would you store it?
I can dismantle into handlebars/frame/kikr as came packaged, but I’m not sure how best to store the chain etc. There’s no help online that I could find, but would anyone have any thoughts that could help?

It would be going into a boarded loft.

Thanks in advance Zwift community! A hearty Ride On to you all!

Training Using zwift ride for CrossFit workouts

I’m looking for a way to use my zwift ride in place of a concept2 bike erg (fan based machine) to do CrossFit workouts at home.

Most CrossFit workouts that involve using the bike use calories as a measure (but sometimes distance). There’s no gear changing or anything like that - you just jump on the bike and pedal as hard as you can to create resistance.

A very simplistic example would be a 20 min AMRAP workout alternating between 10x barbell bench press (for example) and 10 calories on the bike erg.

Or another one is Miko’s triangle: 40 min workout - each min you alternate through the movements and do 1 min max calories: 1 min row / 1 min bike / 1 min ski erg / 1 min rest. Workout score is total calories.

Sometimes it’s distance - eg. 1000m bike / 1000m row / 1000m ski erg (I just made these up to show how a workout might use different equipment)

So, what would be the best setup on a zwift ride indoor bike to do these sorts of workouts?

Can I just set up on flat course and pedal? Which gear would be best etc etc

(I already own a zwift ride, and have a zwift subscription- so I’m happy using it for “proper” cycling workouts already but would prefer not to have to buy an additional bike erg for this sort of CrossFit training).

Done a couple of routes lately, where the climb gets in the way of your place on the map and anyone behind you. One of them was a race making it worse.

FTP Increase What training plan to pick next?

Post image
15 Upvotes

Male 25, 93kg. My second season on a bike. Previous one was gravel, also bought a road one for this year. Just completed the 6-week FTP Builder plan. This was actually my first experience with structured training. I probably need an easy week after this plan because I feel like the fatigue accumulated over time.

I am going to take FTP test this week. My first one showed 192 watts.

When is it better to take FTP test and what should I do for next weeks?

I don't have a powermeter and I am only training indoors currently.

Discussion Title: Now that international trade sanctions are fully lifted, when will Zwift open subscription billing and shipping to Syria?

Hi everyone,

I’m an avid indoor cycling enthusiast mapping out a smart trainer setup for the upcoming season. I really want to jump onto the Zwift platform, but I wanted to raise a constructive question regarding global corporate compliance timelines, regional payment gateway integration, and hardware shipping policies for the Levant region.

As many people tracking international logistics are aware, the legal landscape regarding technology and digital service exports to Syria completely transformed over the past year. The comprehensive international economic sanctions programs were ended, Congress repealed the Caesar Act, and Washington formally rescinded Syria's designation as a State Sponsor of Terrorism. Under current global trade laws, providing digital subscriptions, processing credit cards, and exporting consumer electronics or fitness hardware directly into the country is now fully legal and deregulated.

Despite these massive diplomatic and regulatory changes, global digital platforms are experiencing a massive corporate compliance lag. Right now, local cyclists here are completely blocked from setting up official accounts because local billing addresses and payment gateways remain restricted within Zwift's system.

Furthermore, because official hardware shipping lines aren't established, anyone wanting to source a smart trainer or smart bike must import them at heavily inflated prices on the gray market through third-party cross-border transport from neighboring countries—entirely sacrificing consumer warranties.

Are there any active plans from Zwift's management or regional operations teams to update their trade compliance frameworks, integrate local billing, and unlock the platform for Syrian athletes now that the legal obstacles are completely gone? We have a growing community of indoor cyclists here who are ready to ride if given official access.

New York, New York Stage 2

This week we continue our Central Park shenanigans by racing two laps of Grand Central Reverse, (an event only course).

Last Friday we saw 70 signups and over 40 finishers. Great racing all week with epic battles throughout the field.

Masters racing, three races in one, the overall, the Category win, or beating the younger riders you’re rubbing elbows with.

This is a tour of six races, and the tour winner maybe eligible to win an Old Dog Racing Mug. Details on our facebook page and Zwift Club site.
