Competition is always good! Around $500 cheaper than the Zwift/Wahoo combo here in Aus.

FTP Increase FTP Increase After 1st Zwift Race

Post image
Upvotes

Thought I was going to get crushed in the A group but managed 7th and a new FTP in the process!

That makes my FTP increase 101 since I began 70.3 training on May 19th (190-291).

A few questions of a beginner

Hi folks.

I am so new to Zwift I even haven‘t built up my trainer yet. But there are already a few questions in my head.

Do I need any other accounts beside the Zwift one? Or are there any highly recommended?

What about trainingplans on Zwift? Are they any good for beginners?

About Zwift and Garmin:

Will the trainings be automatically be transfered from Zwift to Garmin?

Will Garmin (I have a Forerunner 265 watch) calculate things like bike VO2max, training readiness… if the activities are shared?

Will I get daily suggested workouts from my watch?

Thank you very, very much in advanced

Technical help Wahoo kickr core and 4iii crank showing different power

I have noticed that my Wahoo kickr core and single-sided 4iii crank produce quite different power numbers, the average power for a ride is usually 20W higher when measured with the crank. I know that some watts are lost due to drivetrain efficiency but I still have a new 105 groupset with a waxed chain so it doesn't explain such a big difference. I usually use the trainer on erg mode so maybe that might cause the difference because Zwift doesn't show higher power than the erg target?

FTP Increase What test fits best your FTP value ?

So far I have been doing 20’ testing and my FTP value is relatively well reflected since I can manage my workouts training threshold properly.

I kinda hate 20’ test and wanna switch to a ramp test.
In fact, at the end of my training block I plan to test on different days:
- 20’ test
- a ramp test
- 1’ and 5’ power (on different days).

I am mainly interested if anyone here has like me massive 1’ power and how well their ramp test predicts their FTP. I am expecting a massive overestimate.
I am above the 90th percentile for 1’ power and around the 66th percentile for FTP compared to my age group.

I’d also be interested if it’s possible to find a corrected formula to correct my FTP estimate given I will have all the data.

Racing Score Calculation Question??

Post image
1 Upvotes

This is from a Z Racing Twilight Crit race earlier today. 330-450 racing score group, 13.3 miles, 5 laps plus lead-in. What is the actual formula for Racing Score changes? It seems crazy that 1st and 2nd go up 61 and 75 but 3rd goes up 8. The 17th place finisher went up 17, but no one else moved double digits. I finished 41 out of 59, 1:38 back from the winner and I went from 411 to 409 score. I guess it really doesn’t matter since I’m mainly pack fodder anyway, but I wish there was more transparency.

Hardware Wahoo KICKR Core 2 clicking noise with MTB chain

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi need some help. With my road bike I have zero issues. When I mounted my Rose PDQ Hardtail I get some weird clicking noises when the chain moves. Weirdly it goes away when I remove some of the chain tension. Any body knows what this is? I am not using it atm in fear of damaging something.

Cog/Click to Cassette

I have had my kickr core with the cog and click for a couple months. I used to have an old kickr with the cassette but it unfortunately died.

I have had nothing but problems with the click controllers. I waste 10-15 multiple times a week fiddling with the batteries of these stupid things. Support has sent me new controllers and they all are junk.

Has anyone converted the cog/click to a cassette version? If so any advise?

Zwift's Next Up description – is the wording kind of weird for everyone?

Upvotes

This is probably a nonsense question; I know these algorithm-driven suggestions are always a little odd across different models and platforms.

I'm just curious what other people see with Zwift's Next Up specifically, though, because I've had a couple of moments where my Zwift shows Productive, my other numbers are in a normal range, and then the Next Up will say something like "with recovery not where it needs to be, do..." or something along those lines. Or if I'm away from Zwift for a week, I'll come back and it'll have a description like "after your recent hard rides, try..." as if it's totally hallucinated a bunch of workouts.

I've never actually done any suggested rides and I don't feel like I need an AI to plan how I train, but I'm kind of fascinated by the black box of it all lol.

Are you all also getting these types of weird descriptions? Is the "with recovery not where it needs to be" phrasing just a stock phrase that it uses every time you've done a few harder rides, or is there some underlying recovery data that I'm missing here? Has anyone tested what happens if you only follow the Next Up suggestions for a while?

Scraping noise from rear drivetrain after mounting bike on KICKR Core cog n click?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone,

I have my bike on my Wahoo KICKR Core cog n click and noticed this scraping noise coming from the rear area when I pedal. I’m not sure if it’s the cassette/derailleur, chain, or something with the trainer setup.

The bike is a Canyon Grizl with a 12×142 mm rear axle, and I’m using the 142 mm adapter on the KICKR.

The noise is shown in the attached video. Does anyone know what this sounds like or what I should check first?

Could the rear derailleur/cassette alignment be off because of the trainer setup?

Thanks!

Discussion I'm thinking about getting into Zwift...

I'd like to get into the indoor cycling game (pun intended) in the most cost effective way possible. Let me know if I'm going about this wrong, but here is what I'm thinking: Buy a Kickr Core 1 from Wahoo through their Certified Reconditioned program for $350, and the Zwift Cog and Click Upgrade Kit for $50, and then use these along with a bicycle I already own. I'd love to get the Zwift Ride Smart Frame, but its pretty expensive for me at $800. Plus I could always buy it in the future if I wanted to upgrade this budget set up. Thoughts? Or am I on the right track here...
