I’m looking for a way to use my zwift ride in place of a concept2 bike erg (fan based machine) to do CrossFit workouts at home.
Most CrossFit workouts that involve using the bike use calories as a measure (but sometimes distance). There’s no gear changing or anything like that - you just jump on the bike and pedal as hard as you can to create resistance.
A very simplistic example would be a 20 min AMRAP workout alternating between 10x barbell bench press (for example) and 10 calories on the bike erg.
Or another one is Miko’s triangle: 40 min workout - each min you alternate through the movements and do 1 min max calories: 1 min row / 1 min bike / 1 min ski erg / 1 min rest. Workout score is total calories.
Sometimes it’s distance - eg. 1000m bike / 1000m row / 1000m ski erg (I just made these up to show how a workout might use different equipment)
So, what would be the best setup on a zwift ride indoor bike to do these sorts of workouts?
Can I just set up on flat course and pedal? Which gear would be best etc etc
(I already own a zwift ride, and have a zwift subscription- so I’m happy using it for “proper” cycling workouts already but would prefer not to have to buy an additional bike erg for this sort of CrossFit training).
