do people who order from Amazon understand the BTS of delivering ? what makes them think out of 300 packages, We would call them ? On Top of that Had many trip Hazards ⚠️ infront an Unmarked House.

This shit was heavy AS HELL. I could not lift it up (I’m a 5’2 110lbs woman 🥴) and I had to put it in the tote bag and dragged it from my van to their door. Also, this customer didn’t allow driver to pull in their driveway as well. I just love my customers. Why the hell is this even allow for us drivers to deliver this? I’ve only work here for a month so I would say I am pretty new to this.

Been working as a delivery driver for just shy of 90 days now. Had a "short" route a few days ago of 129 stops and 250ish packages. Left the station at 11am and was 35 stops ahead of schedule by 4pm. Finished the route at 5:30pm and offered to do a rescue because i needed the hours. Saved a co-worker 20 stops and was still home before 830.

I even took a full 30 minute lunch that day. I killed it. It was a huge confidence booster.

This is the first job I've been able to feel confident at since i moved to my area 6 years ago.

Does anyone else really like their DSPs?

First drop 45 minutes from depot, last drop 40 minutes from depot. Travel time from 168 to 169 was 24 minutes. Manager says it's a 9 hour 15 minute route.

Started at 11.30am, finished 8.30pm. Door dropped every single parcel and I know the route. This would be impossible for anyone who didn't know it. Manager says we are paid from 11.50am even though we get on the pad at 11.30am and load 11.50am. He also said he flagged this route to amazon as we actually had other drivers delivering where i finished.

First route that made me feel like quitting.

Title. Worried that maybe my company is headed for the shitter and was hoping to hear some accounts from people who have had their dsp’s shut down. What were the warning signs/things which led up to that point?

Starting my training tomorrow. 29M I am 6 foot 2 in pretty good shape. I have done temp delivery before for UPS peak season so I am used to the grind. Any tips and tricks to the job or training? I have a bachelors in marketing and the job market is wild. I am pretty sure I will be able to fly through the modules. The owner said that training is from 7:45am - 4:30pm does it normally take that long?

Also they mentioned about some AI camera watching you as you drive??? Just curious on how strict it is. Pretty sure we are driving the white budget vans.

Not sure if this is going to be a long term thing but I'm introverted so idk.

Also benefits where mentioned not sure how good they are.

I just quit this morning, simply because i just couldnt take it anymore with the BS of the world and my own mental and ethical issues with Amazon. But my tipping point wasn't even my horrible route or the heat.

My good friend who works at my station, told me they genuinely had anti union meetings. And i thought a lot about that.

So i decided to redraw my line in the sand and finally pull the plug.

The part that sucks is, over the 2.7 years ive worked here, i genuinely enjoyed this job, in the few times Bazooka Bazos didnt give me 290-340 in the country 🫠.

So shout out to SG. The owner, the managers, dispatchers, and many of the drivers are great. No ill will to them, they were awesome.

But fuck Amazon and Bazooka Bazos

To be honest, I like this job. Been at it for two years now, my DSP is good, the people are nice and understanding. But these past several weeks, I really do not feel like I might want to stay here for much longer, if the one thing that I truly love doesn't make a return.

I'm a step van driver. It's the only vehicle that I have driven the most out of all of them. I have fallen in so much love with it, I almost never, ever want to drive anything else but that. The CDV might be a second choice, but I've only ever driven it twice.

We used to have 12 step vans in our fleet. Slowly, they started to go away. Some of them were so badly clapped that it was understandable. However, as the number of steppies decreased, the boogie-woogies increased. We got our first batch of Rivians last year, starting from 10, 14, now to 20+. We went from 12 step vans down to currently ONE out of 3 that have been in service. Our other two that have been working with this one are parked at the side of the station, presumably waiting to get inspected or something. But before that, we had 5. 3 of them had gone out for maintenance, and only one of them had returned recently. But it's just parked there... Another one different from the 3 had sat at the side of the station for several months waiting on a DOT inspection. It's been such a long process that I actually don't think they're being worked on. I haven't heard a word about them at all since. I feel they're being retired.

I mean, it's quite apparent since as soon as you enter the station and see the parking lot, it's nothing but Rivians. The number of cargo vans and step vans that used to be parked outside have decreased greatly, all in favor for the EDVs. I hate it.

I became a step van driver because I did not want to risk being put in a rental instead of a branded van during peak (also because I wanted to have a chance to actually drive a big truck for once in my life), and I thought since then, I wouldn't have to drive anything else but that for the most part. I should've thought a bit more when the Rivians started coming in. Because of our current almost non-existent fleet of step vans, I've been driving nothing but these Rivians. I know they are really well liked with a lot of people, but for me, I just CANNOT stand them. They're not fun to drive.

• They're very ugly. I feel embarrassed to be driving around in them.
• They can't turn, they can't turn, they can't turn, they can't turn... the shittiest turn radius out of all the vans in Amazon's fleet. Sad and shocking how a step van can clear corners and curves way better than these EDV 700s. Reversing is a pain in the ass with how often I find myself making extra corrections when trying to align the van properly.
• Battery life is abysmal. Using the A/C quickly drains the battery, it's simply not an efficient vehicle to use in high heat.
  
• The mirrors are too small, and I hate how I have to adjust them with clicks on the tablet.
  
• Like how I mentioned the tablet, the lack of physical buttons pisses me off so much. I want to be able to control something with a button or switch, not a screen.
  
• Sound system is garbage. I don't even bother listening to music on this thing.
  
• Automatic bulkhead door can drive me insane. In my step van, I open and close my bulkhead manually. Some of the Rivians in our fleet have faulty doors where it opens when you put it in drive, closes when you put it in park, or when you're in the back, it slams right into you while you're standing in the passageway.
  
• The rear door was designed poorly. When closing it from the outside, it doesn't have a proper handle on the door itself for your hand to grasp. You end up putting your fingers in an odd position in that "pocket" when you need to pull down that door.
  
• The ground clearance is too low. Off-roading would destroy this van, or get it stuck. Once when I was somehow assigned this van to a rural route for some reason, I've nearly gotten stuck in fucking gravel because of how low this shit is. It wasn't even a lot!
• The CV axles are all going to snap out at some point. Whenever you cut the wheel to a significant degree, you'll hear those things clattering while making the turn.
• They all have a musty smell on the inside.

I just can't stand those things. They're gigantic pieces of shit that should've been put through more levels of development. I hate always being put in them these past weeks. I miss my Morgan-Olson and Utilimaster so much. I've started thinking about maybe switching over to FedEx Ground just so I can stay in a step van. These Rivians seriously take the fun out of my job.

In our morning meeting our dsp told everyone that they are converting to all edvs that Amazon is getting rid of all our stepvans is this true for everyone ? We had 16 step van routes now down to 8

This is a 8 hours paid route with more than an hour drive both ways , we are getting paid around 15usd(13 euro) an hour after taxes.

Started during Prime Week so I was used to big routes. But those routes only ran about 160 stops. Now that school has started I haven’t gotten a route under 180. Gotta love Amazon ❤️

How many times can you accidentally mark a package as missing (to eventually find later) and return it to the station without attempting to call driver support before it becomes an issue?

Been here 4 months and this is my 2nd time. 1 package.

Or is it not that big of a deal?

I noticed someone was following me on my route as I made deliveries at an apartment complex.
When I parked my van at the first building and started sorting my totes out, I turned around and noticed he was standing directly in front of my van, staring at me through the front windshield. He didn’t say anything and just kept staring. I asked him why are you standing in front of the van and I guess he must’ve heard me and he walked away but only to the next building and stood in the corner and stared at me. I went to my first building to make my first set of deliveries, and as I was walking back to the van, I noticed he was walking towards my van, but he seen me and ran back to the second building that he was standing at. He followed me for the next four stops until I noticed him at my fifth building. That’s when I press the SOS button and the camera button, but ironically, the camera button didn’t work. He circled my van several times, stared at me from the driver side window as I made the call to dispatch and driver support. As the guy was staring at me through the window, Driver support told me to keep delivering. My dispatcher told me to mark everything as unsafe and come back to the station. This guy stared at me and pace around the building the entire time I marked these packages until I left. I forgot to mention that he went back to every apartment I delivered to🤦🏾What a Monday😂😂😂

I have been doing this job for couple months. Initially i was at a dsp where the stops were less (70-100) with 400-500 packages to most apts(big bulks and multi stops) consisting of 50 overflows on average. That was really tough on my lower back and tiring asf.

I recently switched to a new dsp which delivers to single family homes only. 200 stops everyday with 350 packages. Less overflows (18-30 on avg).

Getting in and out of the van 200+ times a day 4 to 5 days a week has completely wrecked my knees, feet, lower back. My knees are stiff and sometimes have sharp pain on the kneecaps. My right knee hurt from twisting every time to get to the back of the van. My feet are sore asf from landing on the same left foot 200 times with packages in hand.

And the stops increased from 180 when i started at this dsp to now 200 every mf day. How is amazon getting away with this? This shouldnt be legal to give us this much load.

So I called off today, been with my dsp over a month and this is my first time, truth be told I shouldn't have but after the shit show of a day I had yesterday, I needed this day for myself, sometimes i feel bad but not today, I'm finna give my body the rest it truly needs!

Hi, I’m a 6 year Army vet and just started our last week driving for my DSP. I keep having to get rescued and I feel like I have a good flow and very organized. I keep finishing around 10-11pm working 11-12!hr shifts.

Do you think I’m going to have to start jogging or running to finish in a timely manner? I’m also in a bigger city (San Diego)…

Just curious if others do this

For those houses that are right off a busier main roads? I’ve honestly gotten to the habit of taking the opposing lane with my hazards on, so the cars are facing me as they approach. It’s particularly useful to avoid a senseless amount of turning around and is also faster since the only time I’m doing it is to walk straight up the driveway and not crossing the street.

I wanna be clear that this is a specific road type though, 1 lane each way and never THAT busy, usually intersecting neighborhoods at 30-35mph. If it’s 2+ lanes or denser areas I just bite the bullet and keep to the right.

I also try to stay mindful of road curvature when doing this, because obviously someone coming through a curve might get surprised by a van facing them.
