So I was fighting Kangaxx and at some point, something weird happened that actually made me pause and think for a moment.
This divides into two scenarios, although the first scenario is actually kind of a funny one for me.
First scenario: Anomen takes way more damage from s horrid wilting than a mountain bear! This genuinely seemed hilarious to me in the time. I don't know how much hit points mountains bears from the spell "conjure animals" have, but that bear next to Anomen (in the first picture) should've been vaporized instantly from that horrid wilting. Of course, the funny part for me is that both Anomen and the bear made a save to take minimum damage. But somehow, SOMEHOW that bear took way less damage than Anomen did. Edwin had spell immunity necromancy on, so it was no biggie for him standing close there. And that skeleton warrior, well... they just have magic resistance so it does come in clutch when they take magical damage. (Keep in mind that this is in insane difficulty.)
Second scenario: And this is actually what I'm bewildered about. Since Anomen took so much damage and got close to death, I made him run away so that he can cast a heal on himself. But of course Kangaxx wasn't wasting any chances and this bastard literally cast a finger of death at Anomen right after that horrid wilting. Now here's the thing: Anomen had death ward on, which by the looks of it's description is supposed to protect you from death magic like death spell and finger of death.
But Anomen here, still took magic damage from that finger of death and dropped on the floor. Poor guy was running pretty fast too. XD
"This includes, but is not limited to," I don't get this about the death ward. I'd appreciate it if anyone could offer some insight here... maybe it's something I don't know despite having played Baldur's Gate a dozen times. I still love learning new things about it though, it never gets old...
