What a chunky hunky 😍

we have a 3 month old corgi, her name is obi (puppy tax included) and over the last 3 or 4 days we’ve noticed her chasing her “tail” and trying to itch what we assume in her lower back/butt. we always give her scritchins everywhere in the area but most of the time it doesn’t help her stop.

then she started getting more frustrated not being able to reach whatever was making her uncomfortable. over the weekend we did our best to check the area and felt around for mats.

first question: is corgi fur around the butt hole normally extra thick and dense? like so dense to the point i couldn’t tell if it was matting or not in some spots. we did our best to thin it out without shaving it and it did look like she had some dead skin/oil starting to pack in her fur even with brushing daily. but then other parts just looked normal.

i ended up taking her to the vet first thing on monday. gave them the run down of everything above and since she hasn’t had her final booster yet i don’t want to take her to a groomer. they checked her out and said her left anal gland needed a little draining but nothing concerning.

as of today she is still chasing her butt but is no where near as agitated by it. i did notice she seems to get it more often outside. she’ll be walking, kinda jump like when an itch comes out of no where. itch on her backside area, then she’ll carry on.

second question: has anyone experienced this before and what did you find out from it?

third question: do corgis chase their non existent tails? obviously that not what this is but i’m just curious.

Hi everyone we’re having trouble find a raincoat that will fit our girl. Had anyone found success in find one that fits for reference our girl is 28lbs.

Hi guys! I have a 3 year old female who is a rescue and a 2 year old guy we got when he was a baby (10 weeks). My boy will play with toys all day long, but I figure that's because he always has.

My rescue girlie (idk what her situation was before) took a while to warm up to toys, but she seriously will not play side-by-side with the boy. They play together without toys just fine, they get along, etc.

For example: I gave them boxes to shred today since it's a bajillion degrees out. She would not shred the box while her brother was, instead choosing to bark at him. Same happens with other toys, even if we try to engage her at the same time the boy is playing witha. different toy.

Is this a normal, fun-police corgi behavior? Can I train her to play with her toys separately from her brother? Even if I put them in different rooms and give her a toy while I play with her brother, she is totally fixated on him playing.

I’ve seen a few posts like this and wanted to see if anyone may have a sibling of my pem!

The breeder is a BYB (my first dog ever, not a lot of research as I was young, he has been my lesson dog and I now understand the importance of/ appreciate ethical breeding). She randomly stopped doing corgis a few years ago and switched to bassets. She’s out of Chapman, Kansas and was originally Flint Hills Farms/Hutchinson Farms on puppyfind.com. Only health testing that was done was for DM.

My corg’s birthday is May 11th, 2020 and I picked him up on July 5th that year. On his AKC paperwork his parent’s registered names are Flint Hills Blue and Goodman’s Aurora Ann. He’s a bit out of standard being a BYB and leggy. Photo for tax.

I reached out several times to her over the last 6 years to inquire about his littermates and send her updates of him and was ghosted. Figured I’d give it a shot out of curiosity. TIA (:

Took her to get a bath and deshed, she did a great job expressing her displeasure with me.

I stepped away for two seconds and came back to a nuclear reactor breach of a blep. Delilah’s lack of care for her tongue hanging out is reaching critical levels.

I can’t even with her, it’s too damn funny. I know she knows it’s hanging out, she just doesn’t care. 🤷‍♂️

I travel for work with this little guy. One evening, I came home after midnight after an on-call shift. I made sure to be as quiet as possible since the walls between my neighbor and me are paper thin. I started to hear her doing inappropriate things to herself. I don't judge, I guess she just wanted to have a goodnight. I attempted to make my way quietly into my bedroom without interrupting her. But my puppy would not allow that unholy activity to commence. He started barking at those unfamiliar sounds and I told him to be quiet. But he only barked louder. I ended up having to put my hands around his snout in a futile attempt to silence him, but he continued with boofs. Bold of me to assume I could stop him.

Shocker: a Corgi who isn’t food motivated 😂

Our 5-month-old boy has suddenly decided that eating out of his bowl is beneath him. We’ve always done a combination of his regular bowl and a Toppl for his meals. A little while ago, he started not being a fan of the bowl but would happily eat everything out of the Toppl.

Now, he will only really eat if we hand feed him or throw individual pieces of kibble on the floor so he can chase after them. If we just put his bowl down, he looks at us and walks away.

We even started adding some wet food as a topper to make it more appealing, but he still doesn’t seem particularly interested.

He otherwise seems completely normal and happy, so I’m not necessarily worried about him being sick. I’m more concerned about accidentally creating a habit where he expects us to entertain him or hand feed him every meal. Obviously, I don’t want to have to do this as he gets older!

Has anyone else had a Corgi go through a phase like this? Did you just leave the food down and let them figure it out, or did you find something that helped get them interested in eating independently again?

I posted the other day about my parent’s corgi puppy that I’ve been watching while they’re away at a wedding. I just wanted to follow up and thank this community for all the advice and kind words. The last two days have been much easier. She’s sleeping through the night and getting up closer to 5am and potty training has been going extremely well. I’ve got her nap schedule under control and am starting to learn to just leave her in her playpen and let her cry it out when I need a small break. She’s an incredibly good girl and I’m glad I have this time with her. Thank you all again so much for your help. This experience is making me want a corgi puppy of my own down the road.

So grateful to have this cutie pie to help with my chores!

We have a 5 yo pembrook welsh corgi and are considering getting a second one. For those who have gotten a second corgi, how did your first corgi adapt to the puppy? Also, did you noticed a huge difference in fur around the house? Any insights would be helpful!

My corgi has hyperkeratosis.

On top of the daily care, cleaning, balms etc, I've been trying to find her shoes but it turns out to be extra challenging.

I live right by a canal, and the only footpath out the house for several hundred meters is made of gravel. So extra painful.

After some time on Reddit (and else) I found a couple of options that seemed promising but didn't work.

Goo Eez : because her paws are sore, she doesn't tolerate the pressure applied by the shoe.

Pawz : not thick enough underneath, she still feels all the pebbles and gravel

Most of the other shoes I've come across aren't made for really really short but stumpy legs.

I've been thinking I need to handcraft something but I wouldn't know where to start.

Can anyone help, please ?

Teddy was re-homed from an apartment to living on a farm. I never questioned the owner why. (Yes, I know I haven't swept up the barn floor today, Teddy doesn't care and neither should you.)
