First playthrough… This game does not fail to amaze!

So I’ve been trying to get summoned for Artorias and have had no luck so far. I went into network settings to make sure I had region matchmaking set to global, but I also found this setting called “summon sign visibility”, and it’s two options are “restricted” and “unrestricted”. I tried googling this to find out what it does and only found a single post from 8 years ago asking the same question, and all of the replies are just various people’s speculation, most of which conflict with each other. Since that was a very old post, I’m wondering if this has actually been figured out since then. My main questions are:

1-Does this feature affect the visibility of my own summon sign [within other player’s worlds], or does it affect my ability to see summon signs put down by other players?

2-How does toggling between the two options affect this? What do “restricted” and “unrestricted” actually mean?

Thinking of starting from a bonfire and just moving through as much of the game as I can without resting, using estus flasks and heals until I run out of both.

Have you done this and where's your favorite place to start/favorite route?

First time DS1 player here after coming from DS3 and Elden Ring. Struggled with the clunkiness in the beginning but I absolutely love it now, I’m really glad I pushed through when I wanted to give up. As frustrating as it is not being able to fast travel between bonfires, I really appreciate the level design. I quite like that I have to retrace my steps and memorise the map.

However, I have just reached Blighttown, and after dying a ridiculous amount of times and realising the hard way that my weapon loses durability, I’m feeling like ripping my hair out. I’ve had to run all the way back because I didn’t buy a repair kit from the blacksmith before heading down.

Is there anything else I need to prep for before I go back? I have about 12 purple moss clumps and 12 blooming purple moss clumps. I’ve retrieved the rusted iron ring. Am I good to go? I’m trying not to follow any guides or look too much up because I don’t want to spoil the surprise, but I’d also appreciate not having to run back on myself again! Lol.

He became hostile and even when I quit and reload the game he is still hostile. Do I need to request absolution from oswald? Or it doesn't matter anymore?

I haven't played Dark Souls 1 since it came out. I found someone selling the trilogy on marketplace so I'm back in it.

Seeing that treasure chest...

Running on the roof tops of Anor Londo and feeling like I need to be constantly dodge rolling because there's some BS I couldn't quite remember (until those arrows slammed into my face).

The list goes on.

It's like my past self is sending me fuzzy vague warnings near corners I haven't thought about for over a decade.

Just reflecting on nostalgia! It's fun being back in the doom and gloom of this world. Looking forward to finishing this up and eventually beating Dark Souls 2 (stopped playing it pretty quickly) and Dark Souls 3 (DS2 left such a bad taste I know I missed out on a banger).

i think it's odd how the series is almost 15 years old and yet only the second game has a somewhat unfinished wiki as of writing this

Does not get nearly the love it deserves and I'm pissed it never shows up again in the series. That is all.

a ring i got makes it so my steps are silent, i’d like to find a mod that removes the blue balls on my characters feet without changing anything else. they’re very distracting.

anyone know a mod or a method to remove it?

Simplesmente o Boss mais fácil que já enfrentei até agora, simplesmente só esperar ele dar a investida e depois que correr é só dar 2-3 hits e fazer isso o resto da fight que você ganha, percebi que em dark souls alguns bosses se aproveitam de certa emoções, por exemplo eu tive uma luta intensa contra minha ansiedade nesse Boss porque demorou muito a luta, porém foi fácil. Demônio cabra por contrapartida é uma fight rápida, e quem tem problemas de agir sob pressão acaba sofrendo. Simplesmente dark souls sendo incrível e melhor game que já joguei.

How would you say, would Kalameet or Midir fit into Monster Hunter? I mean, they would be elder dragons, but how strong would they be in this game?

I'm 10 hours into the game and I'm hard stuck on undead burg. I beat the Taurus demon and the armoured boar but past that I just get wrecked and if I go the other way downstairs instead of up to the Taurus bridge the mini boss gives me zero time to attack or heal because the second my dodge roll ends he attacks again. Am I missing any bonfires? Coming from Elden Ring it seems like a far fucking distance in any direction with no bonfire in sight...

Softlocked in the catacombs, without lordvessel, with no hope, and in NG+1...

So, yeah, I'm screwed...

(Edit: So I'm not softlocked anymore, could you gys stop being so mean? At least you could have given me help instead of just telling me "no, you're not softlocked" or "rookie mistake")

Hello fellow undead. I haven't played the game in a long while and I've just started another new game this time I wanna do a pyromancer build mainly for the achievement but I just wanna fuck around as Roy Mustang from FMAB lol. Getting the pyromancies I feel is easy so what I need help with is the fashion souls. Idk what armor set combination to get him at least close to looking like his main art. I'm thinking maybe I could some white cloak like the assassins from Anor Londo for his Ishvalan war look could work but idk.

I’ve recently brought the trilogy, I’ve managed to find my way to the Taurus demon and used gold pine to fight him (after an unreasonable amount of deaths I found the ladder to the archers) I’ve had a little wander around and have come across 2 routes, one has a boar the other has a dragon, where am I meant to be heading?

Edit: thank you everyone, I see that the game is more free rein than I assumed , I thought it might have been a case like the graveyard. I’m going to try level up a little bit and take on the boar. Someone said about running under the dragon but I keep dying to fire when I get to the other side of the bridge. (I thought I made it but died at the door) I saw a lever so going to circle back for it

Essentially we could use His sword, His armor, and His attacks, like for example the grab attack. And have His Stamina as well and do His Combos. Maybe this could be a mod. Not sure there are Mods for DS.
