NEVER PAY WITHOUT SEEING YOUR CONTRACT!

Hi everyone!
I’m from Portugal and I’ll be moving to Turin in September for Erasmus. It will be my first time living abroad, so I’m really excited but also a little nervous 😅
I’d love to hear from people who have lived in Turin or have done Erasmus there. What was your experience like? Is Turin a good city for students? how is the nightlife, social life and meeting new people?

I’m an Erasmus student and I’ll be going to Cassino this September to study at UNICAS. It's my first time, so I’m still trying to figure everything out.

I’m currently trying to find a place to stay, and honestly, it’s been a lot harder than I expected. I’m looking for a small apartment or studio, preferably just for myself, from around the 20th of September until the beginning of March.

My budget is around €500–€600 per month, and I could even go a little over that for the right place.

I’ve already been checking Immobiliare, Idealista, some other websites, and even a few Facebook groups, but a lot of the apartments I’ve found either require a 12-month contract or are only available for long-term rent. I’ve also contacted quite a few agencies, but most of them have told me that they don’t have anything available for such a short stay.

I know there are student residences as well, and I’m planning to apply, but I’m a little worried about relying only on that since, from what I understand, there are limited places and I’m not sure if I’ll actually get one.

So I thought I’d ask here in case anyone has any recommendations. I’d also really appreciate any tips from students who have already lived in Cassino and had to find accommodation there.

I’m honestly starting to feel a little hopeless at this point, so any help, or recommendations, would be really appreciated.

I’m going to be starting my full year in Brussels, Belgium soon and I’m excited but so nervous. I’ve dreamt of this my WHOLE life. And what if it’s not eveything I hoped it would be? What if I hate it there (I’ve heard it’s boring and cloudy, and the people are rude) (and the French being a huge part of socializing) (my French is very rusty) (you could say I’m overthinking but I’ve studied abroad before and it was an underwhelming experience)
If you’ve studied in Belgium (or anywhere else) before do you have any advice or things you learned?

Hi everyone!

I’m a university student and I’m interested in doing an Erasmus+ traineeship in Germany during summer 2027, ideally in the aerospace/aviation field (I’m particularly interested in EASA).

I haven’t researched the whole process in depth yet, mainly because I’m most concerned about the financial side of it and how difficult it actually is to get an Erasmus+ traineeship.

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has done something similar:

- How difficult was it to get accepted for an Erasmus+ traineeship?

- How much money did you realistically need per month to live in Germany?

- How much did Erasmus+ cover, and how much did you have to pay out of pocket?

- How much money would you recommend having saved before going?

- What would improve my chances of getting a good traineeship (GPA, language skills, previous experience, projects, etc.)?

- And if anyone has experience doing an internship at EASA or a similar aerospace organisation, I’d especially love to hear about it.

My goal is to spend summer 2027 in Germany, gain some relevant experience and hopefully make it happen through Erasmus+.

Any personal experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi! I live in Brazil and travelling here is reaaaally expensive, so I've never visited another country. Do you guys think my changes to get in a program are low because of that? Also, do you guys have some ideas of activities that I could do to show intercultural skills or how should I approach the topic of not having these experiences? tysm !! :)

Just saw erasmus global minds are NOT doing any funding for the 2027-2029 global minds cohort. so disheartening, considering it was the program i was the most interested in.

i cannot afford self funded, let alone tuition AND living…anyone got resources for scholarships or living assistance outside of them ? or just any thoughts on this.

Hello! I'm entering my 4th year now in Medicine and next year I want to do an Erasmus before graduation last year, so this autumn the application process will start.

However, I do not personally know any student from these unis and would therefore appreciate any feedback of primarily the quality of education in the uni/hospital settings 5th year itself, the facilities or libraries and how the city and student life is.

I'm willing to learn any language, although I've studied Spanish before. List of universities:

- Portugal, Coimbra - University of Coimbra (B1 English)

- Austria, Innsbruck - Innsbruck Medical University (B1 German)

- Italy, Padua/Padova - University of Padova (B1 English)

I wanted to share my experience for other international students looking for accommodation in Madrid.

I rented a room for five months that was managed by Rookie in Town and booked through Spacest.

My security deposit was €399, but after moving out I received only €45.65 back. The remainder was deducted for various alleged damages, repairs, cleaning and utilities.

The most concerning part for me was being charged for damage to the bathroom ceiling even though I have dated photo and video evidence from my check-in showing that the ceiling was already damaged when I moved in.

I was also charged for alleged “misuse” involving a bed base and washing machine. I formally disputed these deductions and asked for sufficient evidence supporting the allegation of misuse. In my view, the documentation provided did not adequately establish this. I also disputed the utility calculation and have retained my payment records.

I repeatedly contacted Rookie in Town in writing, but despite extensive correspondence, the dispute was not resolved.

I then contacted Spacest, since I had originally booked the accommodation through their platform, hoping they could assist. Unfortunately, I was unable to obtain a satisfactory resolution through Spacest either. I was ultimately told to contact Rookie in Town again through a different email address, despite already having extensive written correspondence with Rookie regarding the same dispute.

The matter remained unresolved and I eventually had to pursue it legally myself and submit my claim and supporting evidence to the competent court in Madrid.

I have kept the contract, invoices, payment records, emails, photos and check-in/check-out evidence.

I’m sharing this because I wish I had known how important this documentation could become before renting. If you are an international student renting in Madrid, take detailed photos and videos on the day you move in and when you leave, and keep every payment record and email.

To give some context: I study Biological Sciences. I recently discovered that the agreement is with their Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, but there is NO agreement with their Faculty of Sciences (where the Bachelor's in Biology is based, and where I actually need to pick my courses).

I tried to reach the minimum ECTS credits by selecting courses from the Medicine faculty, but they are strictly for med students. Therefore, it's impossible for me to draft a Learning Agreement that matches my study plan (even if I modify it, I have little margin)

I have already contacted my home university's Erasmus office to report the issue and see if anything can be done. In the meantime, I wanted to ask the community:

• Do you think there's any chance the two universities can extend the agreement, let's say... in weeks? I do think it is quite impossible.
• Has anyone else been in a similar situation? How did it end up?

I come from a country with a lot less opportunities for E+ Youth Exchanges (small-ish country, perhaps lack of organizations?). I recently found out I can also apply to some training courses, but I don't personally know anyone who has ever attended one, and I'm a little nervous of going there because of it.

I'm extremely curious to know if there's generally people who motivate to attend to them also because they wanna travel and meet people and not only come because of the training itself, or are the people usually stritc and just focusing on the main thing...? I would also like to know whether there's much free time, and if people are open to get to know each other and make connections like in youth exchanges. How is "life" in training courses in general?

I would be glad to read even long messages, since I'm very curiois how the training courses are! :)

(P.S. Even tho my main interest is in traveling and meeting new people, I'm still definitely not those people who use E+ opportunities just to have a "free vacation")
