Story In A Hypothetical Fe7 Remake, If They Added That One of These Two Was "The Student of A Traveling Lyn", Who Would You Prefer?

Let's say in a hypothetical Fe7 remake, if Lyn gets a traveling the plains ending (I.e She doesn't end up with Eliwood or Hector ...), they introduce the idea of Lyn getting a student (instead of a birth child) during her travels as a way for to still have legacy type character.

Between Fir and Rutger who would you prefer? Do you have your own separate character in mind? Share below :>

Also imagine a remake who a good solid telling/rewrites/adds on to make this work

Gameplay Silver Snow, minimum monastery and minimum weekend run

I started this run a while ago, but it was feeling easy so I moved on for a bit but decided to finish it before fortunes weave. I went to the monastery for the white heron cup, after Jeralts death (actually forgot which file I was on), and after the flame emperor reveal to recruit any unit I could. I also did paralogues, most weren't available.

By mid game, most units were still in the intermediate classes, and I have to say, this does not solve the wyvern meta. Units really don't like learning their banes, but if you don't want to get above B, it's still fine. But getting to A even with Boons can take long enough you don't qualify for a lot of the advanced classes until you can qualify for masters. The one you can qualify for fairly easily is wyvern, B axe, C flying. Also compatible with lance builds. And it further shows how weird the master classes are. Because so many advanced classes take A rank, and Master classes take 2 A ranks, I qualify for the master ones at the same time as advanced ones. I would also recommend getting the class mastery bonus from the Saint statue as a minimum.

There were some decent maps. The holy tomb, the first defense of Garreg Mach, the battle in Shambala, and the battle against the immaculate one. The maps in-between those were okay but also seem easy to cheese. I need to play another hard run because I think Hard mode actually is accurate. Some of the beasts were really strong, and Edlegard and the death knight were threats. Thales was a pushover. The immaculate one would've been nicer if I had the ashes and dust battalion, which is another point to why it would make sense to swap final bosses.

The knights of seiros automatically joined, except for Alois. So much for a surrogate brother who swore to protect us after our fathers death. At least he is recruited easy, and I also picked up Hanneman and Manuela. Recruitment really is a problem for cutting out the monastery. You can kind of get a few by using the assist command and building support ranks, though that still requires visiting the monastery. I like adjutant system, so it's really too bad it's locked behind professor level.

I guess the point of the post, is don't be afraid or let fomo stop you from tailoring the game to the way you want it. Between NG+, the systems in place, the difficulty is very customizable and you can cut out a lot of the monastery without stopping you from beating the game. I think it's fair to say Conquest and Engage has the best gameplay in the series, but I think 3 Houses still presents a strong argument for 3rd.

That Byleth will be a secret in the game with a massive major role. Maybe some more Three Houses characters return.

Story I have played Three Houses only once and took the church route.

That's it. Just wanted to share.

Recently I've been thinking about replaying the game, and almost everyone talks about how the church route is the worst and should be played last (if at all).

And here I am, church is all I know.

PS. I guess I do have a question. If I decide to replay it, do you have any opinion on which route I should take?

General Spoiler So I'm playing through Fire Emblem Awakening for the first time and I just got to level 13 and I'm now curious about what happens if Chrom has no marriage candidates available

So if Lucina is Marth and is basically required to exist for the plot to happen in Awakening what happens in the unlikely scenario none of the potential female characters that can be his wife are available. Technically speaking you could have either all those units in an S rank with other units or they could be all dead leaving Chrom with no one. I guess this is also kinda why Olivia is recruitable one chapter before the time skip and able to be an S rank with Chrom (this is kinda what brought up the question.)

btw Sumia and Chrom ended up together.

General Spoiler Any character pairings you're cooking up already based on vibes? (FW)

Assuming there's paired endings (IS please I'll give you my firstborn just let me make my soldiers kiss)

I'm dying to make Leda and Olympia an "enemies to lovers/why are you so obsessed with me/hatred as misplaced infatuation" moment

Also fingers crossed Gaitz and Bertrand are at least as homie-erotic as Dimitri and Dedue considering how Gaitz talks about him. (More would be great.)

I'm liking the idea of Eshmel and Hong Hua as fellow repentant sinners seeking redemption, though I'm guessing their supports will have Eshmel react more than relate based on avatar support history. Still, she's the strongest candidate right now for an avatar S-Support for me.

Anyone else?

Casual Fire emblem Fortunes weave is setting up a trilogy.

theory crafting/speculating/hoping because I love the world theyve made so far but i think fortunes weave is laying the ground work for a third and final game.

to start, three houses was made with not as much forethought in mind. Dagda and Brigid are heavily mentioned countries with very little world building in that game. all we knew back then was it was southwest of fodlan and Very different from fodlan. i dont believe they knew three houses would be such a success that it would result in a sequel but luckily they had set some groundwork for it and it worked out.

i think this time intsys KNOWS how popular this world is and they are setting things up WELL in advance just in case. the map of dagda is much larger than fodlans and dagda seems to be a sort of melting pot of people and cultures. there are indigenous tribes, the people of dagsion and saramis and arago etc. theyre putting a LOT of thought into the culture this time around. Where fodlan was loosely based on europe, dagda is intended to be very clearly based off northern africa, southern africa during roman rule.

the part i think is interesting and stands out tho is the country of Sai. many characters so far have been revealed to come from this mysterious land to the west and this land is very obviously China... wait. CHINA!? in a world so eurocentric who would expect their to be an in world China? i think intsys is going to leave a lot of details open about sai so they can build on it (and hopefully brigid which we also havent seen) in a future game. this would make the game come full circle from its original inspiration Romance of the Three Kingdoms which is a 14th century chinese classic.

if Dagda is the past and Fodlan is the present, maybe Sai will be our future

Fortune's Weave General Could someone explain to me how the routes work on fortune's weave? I want to make sure I'm playing right and don't miss anything.

Hi guys!

I'm super super excited for the new game releasing in two weeks, I've seen the direct for the game but I still don't fully understand how the routes system work, they mention something about being able to play them simultaneously, but for example let's say that I'm into Chapter 5 with Cai, and then I decide to switch to Leda's story, does that mean that I would jump into Leda's version of Chapter 5 right away?

I hope that's not the case because I don't want to miss anything, and I don't know if it would be feasible for me to play the entire game without switching ever, and only switch after I've seen the credits with the character I'm using, does that make sense?

Sorry, I'm sure the question is dumb and weird hahaha, but I really want to play this right and enjoy it as much as possible! So if someone could clarify this to me then it would help me a lot!

Gameplay How Do People Feel About The Mechanics of Three Houses/Echoes?

I'm collecting ideas for a Fire Emblem-inspired game project(still at the extremely rough phase right now), and I'm curious how people feel about the mechanical additions in Echoes and Three Houses. Stuff like Combat Arts, spells being learned lists rather than a weapon type or consumable staves, equippable items that modify stats, like rings and shields, all that stuff. Also the other Echoes-specific changes, like substituting skirmishes for consistent overworld encounters and adding light dungeon-crawling mechanics, the stuff that kind of made it feel more like a conventional RPG. I personally like it, but I know Echoes is kind of the black sheep of the franchise, so I want to know what other people think about things like these, and what ideas people think are worth working with or refining

General Spoiler little crack theory about yu phas Spoiler

and iliana to extension

if she is yu phas as theorized and the white egg genocide is true, potentially babbu could very well be a nursery toy from the children she saved she got as a gift, and later it was given a crest as a containment to hold onto curses which spread to her. idk, i can see something crazy like that rather than playing it safe.

Fortune's Weave General Do you think Fortune’s Weave started development on the Switch 1?

I ask this because Nintendo have outright admitted that several Switch 2 exclusives started development on the Switch 1.

This includes:

- Mario Kart World

- DK Bananza

- Hyrule Warriors: AOI

- Yoshi and the Mysterious Book

(There was also a Pokemon leak that showed Pokopia started development on Switch 1, although it wasn’t officially confirmed.)

I suspect that Fortune’s Weave probably did start on the Switch 1. The reasons I believe this:

- Engage was the only FE game on Switch 1 to be primarily developed by Intelligent Systems. (Koei Tecmo made Three Houses).

- Engage was basically finished by the end of 2021.

- Fortune’s Weave is releasing only 15 months after the Switch 2’s launch, which is one of the earliest Fire Emblem releases ever.

- This has happened with FE before. Radiant Dawn was planned as a Gamecube game, but became an early Wii game.

General Fire Emblem games for new players on Switch

Hi there, I have a Switch 2 and I have never played any Fire Emblem games before. I do know that the series are standalone but I would like to hear which one is the best to start with from the community itself. Based on my findings, I noted that these games are one of the most recommended ones:

  1. Fire Emblem Three Houses
  2. Fire Emblem Engage
  3. Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes

The reason why I wanted to play these series is because of Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave trailer during the Nintendo Direct which caught my attention. I figured that maybe I should start first with the earlier series so that I can know what to expect hopefully in Fortune’s Weave? Or maybe I should have started with Fortune’s Weave right away? Well thats one of the reason I came here tooo

Notes: I have been getting into JRPG genres lately with Persona 5 and FF7 Remake/Rebirth.
I love to play story driven games like Cyberpunk, E33, DBH and Witcher 3.

I look forward to joining the community and thank you for your time :)

General Spoiler Top 10 favorite dark mages (pre Fortune’s Weave) Spoiler

there’s a lot of classes and characters who specialize in dark magic, so to make a long story short, pretty much any character who specializes in dark magic is eligible here.

  1. Sophia from Binding Blade (not very useful in terms of gameplay, but I always found her character and supports quite fascinating anyway)

  2. Canas from Blazing Sword (very pleasant guy with some low key great and even sometimes hilarious supports, and he has the novelty of being the only playable dark mage in Blazing Sword. Also, his support with Nino is amazing)

  3. Lysithea from 3 Houses (incredibly powerful unit once you’ve trained her a bit, and there is a minor bit of tragedy to some of her supports once you know what she’s been through)

  4. Veyle from Engage (never fully known how to feel about how her story was executed, but it was great to see her finally break free in the last few chapters and a part of me even wishes she took over as main character in those final chapters)

  5. Manfroy from Juggdral (he’s an abominable person, but a great villain. Everything that happened in Genealogy’s first generation could be traced back to him somehow and it’s telling that he only lost after he “won” and got careless)

  6. Knoll from Sacred Stones (can be a bit tough to train without grinding, but he does have some great supports and a unique perspective having actually been there at the specific point everything went wrong. Plus he can be the first playable summoner in the series)

  7. Niime from Binding Blade (she stands out a lot for being one of the oldest dark mages in Elibe but also one of only a few to keep her sense of self despite using it for so long. Plus a number of her supports are really goo, especially Yodel)

  8. Pelleas from Radiant Dawn (always felt bad for him. In the end, all he wanted was to be a good king, but everyone else just wanted a pawn. Especially like his role in 3-13 and how you can eventually choose to find another way)

  9. Henry from Awakening (a very enjoyable character with an intense amount of tragedy to him. His supports are also low key extremely good too, with my favorite surprisingly being Ricken)

  10. Lyon from Sacred Stones (debatably the most tragic villain in the series. All he wanted was to save his country and father, but was too desperate to remember his sacred stone just happened to be a prison for a demon king. It’s even sadder in Ephraim’s route because it feels like there’s still a part of him in there, twisted as he’s become. Plus he has a phenomenal class/sprite and song)

Some honorable mentions include Nergal from Blazing Sword, Salem from Thracia 776 and Tharja from Awakening (who likely would have made it if not for her treatment of Noir). Waldemar from 3 Houses would have also been an honorable mention if his class and personality in 3 Hopes was canon, and the only reason Hubert isn’t here is because I felt he was more likable in 3 Hopes. My most hated is absolutely Izuka from Tellius for just how monstrous of a person he is.

Casual Headcanon Day 13: In the leadup to FW, let us share our headcanons on... Elise

Let us share our headcanons on the Cinnamon Roll herself, Elise from FE Fates on everything such as her backstory, personality, combat skills, etc.

Have fun and be creative!

Here are my headcanons:

Elise never had a chance to experience the real King Garon as she was born shortly after he became possessed by Anankos. And their relationship unlike the other Nohrian siblings and even Azura was almost nonexistent as Anankos through Garon didn't even care to train Elise in combat unlike Xander, Camilla, Corrin, and Leo.

Elise in-universe is actually called a little cinnamon roll by her older siblings especially by Camilla and Xander surprisingly.

Elise was a bit ruthless in both Conquest and Revelation as thanks to Leo training her in offensive magic, she was able to perform deadly spells on her enemies such as burning a man alive from atop her horse which caught many people off-guard.

Elise's mother was a young blonde-haired troubadour maid who happened to sleep and engage in some 'fun' with Garon before he became possessed and this was after Arete's death.

Finally, Elise named her horse Cupcake because why not.

Lemme know what you guys think

General Divided on Fortune's Weave

Upvotes

I'm just wondering if someone doesn't have a switch 2 and it's struggling with this game coming out.... For me I want to play the game so freaking bad on day 1 that I feel like going crazy... And yet Nintendo practices as of late have been horrible, that I don't want to sponsor a system and consumer practices I don't like at all... For those in the same boat, how do you cope?

Casual Idea for a class with a different gameplay

The mage knights already exist, I'm aware, but I have been thinking of something more akin to mystic knights from final fantasy or other fantasy media where they draw powers from weapons. There's FE4/FE5 that did something similar with 2 range casting spells when up close you use physical attacks.

Like a unit that can't use tomes or staves but when equipping a weapon a command appears, for instance the prayer sword (fe4 weapon) would grant something like heal which if upgraded could become something like physics, the catch is that you are limited by your inventory although a Lord could work around that with access to convoy, it could use weapon durability like a normal tome or staff, but it would only work for certain weapons, silver or slim swords wouldn't do anything. Meanwhile a wind edge or flame sword would allow to cast something like Excalibur or Bolgannone, while the Levin sword thoron, the class would be more physical oriented since they wouldn't be a true mage unlike most hybrids, an advantage is, for games that need you to raise weapon ranks, it's only tied to a weapon type, the disadvantage is that it's tied to equipment so depending on resources you might miss a chest or have one weapon broken and losing something for good, some might be rewards for completing a map under certain turns or talking to villagers.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a sword either, lances could also work, although I feel like the sword argument keeps the 1-2 range distinction as up close they'd use their higher strength to damage, while from afar casting the spell, making it different from javelins and hand axes. Like leif uses the light brand in thracia to chip despite having bad magic, I feel like most hybrids will often pick magic unless they suck at it which would make them pick a physical class instead, so this feels like a compromise, with growths offering more strength than magic (like 15% and 5%) and having good speed and skill although a bit less than traditional myrmidons to compensate for the split focus.

General Which fire emblem story feels the most whimsical/fairytalesque? Which feels the least?

Post image
20 Upvotes

First let me explain a bit what I mean. Obviously fire emblem takes some common tropes like storytelling structure and character attitudes, and simple story morals that are a kin to those in traditional fairytales.
For example, I think probably Fates and Echoes fit the best, especially fates. You have very black-and-white plot points and fantastical plot points, putting a magic barrier over a kingdom, an underground kingdom, and invisible soldiers, a spell that doesn’t allow you to mention, said kingdom and tell me Garon doesn’t feel like a typical fairytale villain. I think the best evidence of this is actually Corrin He has many parallels with fairytale heroines kind of growing up like sleeping beauty or naïveté the results in danger kind of like Snow White and the apple.
I think the least, like a fairytale has to be the Tellius games especially path of radiance. It focuses so much on specific political problems to its world and either leaves out some of the common series, fairytale tropes or has them, but doesn’t put them front and center. Ex: Marth being the main character a prince that needs to save his kingdom. Vs Elincia who has a similar struggle, but it’s not the main focus of the title.
