Firefox is so good...

β€’ Upvotes

This browser is so amazing and has so much aura.... It really feels like a perfect skibidi browser for me to watch stuff and browse web with no ads... The aura is unmatched....

Brave could never have aura like this... My eyes are turning red and my inner demons are fueling up just from the thought of a Brave user try to take my precious from me.... If you use Brave, go away before I get really, really angry and you will be running...

I get sticky just from thinking about forks, they don't have this aura... πŸ‘Ž

Feel and unleash this aura farm!!!!

πŸ’» Help Tab groups feature--can I turn it off. I don't want groups and it keeps making accidental groups.

I am new to Firefox. I certainly like grooming the browser to have something work the way I want my work experience to flow.

I keep having Tab Groups appear even though I don't want them. I'm simply dragging and dropping windows and sometimes a group appears under what I feel is very normal usage--dragging and relocating tabs. I don't want to have to be extra careful dragging or pausing to try to insure that I don't make a tab group. I have to constantly go and delete these group markers. I'd like to turn it off until I have a usage case for that feature. It's much to "delicate" and it's time consuming to keep deleting these groups--screws up my work flow and browsing.

Help!

Discussion Did they add a new functionality for the touchbar with the new update?

When I hit the search menu I noticed this menu to appear in the touchbar, which it didn’t before. It would be actually so cool of them if they thought to add a new feature for the touchbar since it always gets ignored.

Help (Android) Tab Groups: Is there a way to open new tabs within the group?

I'm using tab groups which I know are in beta, but is there any way to (from a page already in your tab group) open a new tab and have it stay in the tab group? It kind of defeats the purpose when I'm on a research spree and I have to stop and put all the tabs I'm opening in the group, rather than having them just open there automatically.

I'm on linux ubuntu and my firefox version is 154.0.1

πŸ’» Help Transferring from Helium to Firefox

My school site's bugging me about using something that's not Chrome 143 and I figured Firefox might be a nice change. I haven't figured out how to export all my data such as search history and bookmarks; as far as passwords go I have Bitwarden anyway. Additionally, I haven't seen a firefox extension for Adobe Acrobat specifically, which I need for signing documents. I don't mind taking a more long-winded way to get all my info over, I just don't know where to start with Helium specifically.

πŸ’» Help Built-in Firefox VPN connects but nothing loads (Russia). Any fixes?

Hi everyone,

I’m based in Russia and I’m having a weird issue with the built-in Firefox VPN. Up until recently, it worked flawlessly for everything, but now it seems completely broken.

The VPN still turns on and shows as connected, but absolutely nothing loads when it's active. This includes regular websites that work perfectly fine without a VPN. It just kills my connection completely.

I know it's not a general network issue on my end because I tested another VPN and it works perfectly fine.

Has anyone else experienced this recently? Is there a known workaround or a fix? I'd really prefer to get the Firefox VPN working again since it was so convenient and reliable before this problem started.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Update: Just to clarify, there were times in the past when it would fail to connect entirely (showing as "not connected" rather than blocking the internet), but it would always start working normally again after a while.

πŸ’» Help Youtube doesnt work properly

Basically anything that loads initially like the video and the first few recommendations will load fine but comments and further recommendations or even further videos when clicking on a channel will keep loading infinitely. I can see the first few videos but whenever anything has to load again on the same page it will keep loading forever. Clearing cache, disabling ublock, and changing the networking http path did nothing to fix this issue. This issue has persisted for weeks at this point so even turning firefox on and off again doesnt do the trick. The issue does not replicate on other browsers and devices. I have absolutely no idea what to do at this point as nothing seems to work and I appear to be the only one on earth with this problem. Does anyone have more ideas?

πŸ’» Help Is stock Firefox really that unprivate?

I created a Reddit account just to ask this because I couldn't find much answer about my question and even then, some were from years ago.

I ask this because I am not a tech savvy user or at least not enough to change a dozen things in the config, so I just use ubO and Enhanced Protection then had a friend tell me that my set up is nowhere near enough several times and they never explained to me why (Even when I asked) and just says I should use hardened instead of stock, whatever that means

I just use Firefox because I've heard good things about it

Solved Firefox's gamepad support is overriding Steam's, which is a problem for me

I have bad wrists, so I use an XBox adaptive controller while Steam is running for controlling my mouse cursor. It lets me use my feet instead of my hands for mouse controls. Starting today, Firefox randomly decided to start recognizing controller inputs, which is overruling Steam. The result is that the cursor has an obnoxiously slow acceleration when I use Firefox, and only accepts face buttons for clicking (I have shoulder button clicking set up for Steam because for SOME REASON it won't let me map face buttons to anything). I tried typing about:config and disabling everything related to gamepads, but that did nothing. How do I make Firefox stop recognizing my gamepad, or how to I change its settings to match what I have on Steam?

EDIT: Figured it out, see thread below

Discussion Will Firefox ever get native PWA (Progressive Web App) support for the Stable release?

Recently I have been using PWAs one my MacOS and honestly, this has changed the way I browse the web. I like how they can run as their own sandboxed environments/window and I can quickly open them without needing any bookmarks or without ever opening the main browser client.

I tried to add some websites as PWA using Firefox, but to my surprise, Firefox has apparently no official PWA support on desktop.

Why is it that Chrome, Edge, Brave and Safari have great PWA support but Firefox doesn't? Will this ever change in the future?

πŸ’» Help Firefox Account/Sync disconnecting after every restart

PC - Windows

My Firefox Account has been disconnecting constantly every time I restart/update it for the past week. It gets annoying quickly because I do have 2FA sign-in enabled. I first pinned the blame on recent updates, but signin seems to be fine on my other PC. I am pondering whether this issue could be caused by a config or setting that got accidentally changed.

πŸ’» Help I can't find my profile folder in the location that Firefox lists using: about:support

I am using the about:support command in the address bar for Firefox. This prompt opens up Troubleshooting Information. I scroll down to the line that says "Profile Folder".

It gives me this location: C:\Users\myusername\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\88xgaezt.default-release-1788121880742

There is no AppData folder or Roaming or any of the rest. How can firefox be presenting a location with all this information and no such folder exists under my user name? Where's my profile?

I have everything up and running the way I want it now after 5 days of grief. I'd like this profile to exist for backup purposes.

I'm on a PC , Windows 11

πŸ’» Help Firefox throws CORS errors when loading Gaiagps Topo map

Firefox 155 does not load the heightlines (contour lines) of the Gaiagps Topo map, neither Topo (feet) nor Topo (meters) show contours. Edge does that fine, firefox on my cell works, too.
All three use the same free account displaying the same region.
Changing the Zoomlevel does not help.
F12 and Ctrl-Shift-R lets me watch the page reloading and there are multiple CORS errors in the console.
Anyone got an idea how to fix that ? (of course I can't change the gaiagps servers)

This should be full of contour lines when zoomed in properly

πŸ’» Help Weird artifacts on YouTube-videos with Firefox on Nobara Linux

Thumbnail

Hi all!
I have been a loyal Firefox user for a long time and use it to watch a lot of chess videos on YouTube.

Lately I have been experiencing weird artifacts on videos. See screenshots. The first one is Firefox and the second is Edge. Notice the squares on the side next to the clock and how weird the bishop is. This does not appear on Edge at all. I tried with Floorp and that is the same as Firefox. I have tried installing via Snap, Flatpak and DNF. All versions of Firefox get the same error.

I have tried enabling GPU acceleration, but nvidia-smi does not show that it is running Firefox, but neither does Edge. (What would be a good way to make sure it gets enabled?) I tried using this from https://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/xcikym/tutorial_how_to_enable_hardware_video/

  1. type about:config in the address bar.
  2. in the search bar type gfx.webrender.all and set it to true.
  3. in the search bar type media.ffmpeg.vaapi.enabled and set it to true.

The strangest thing is that it is exactly the same artifacts coming at the specific time. Meaning I could go back to the same video at the same time and the artifacts would be identical as the last time.

What could I do to troubleshoot?

I really don't want to have to go to a chromium based browser..

Sorry for my bad English and thanks for your help!

I'm trying to access my student application, however on firefox nightly it's throwing this error?

"https://account.student-finance.service.gov.uk/apex/funnelsslanding?language=en_GB has a security policy called HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS), which means that Firefox Nightly can only connect to it securely. You can’t add an exception to visit this site."

πŸ’» Help Firefox going momentarily blank.

Been using Firefox for a good 4 years now I believe and never had any problems until this year.

A few months after getting my current laptop anytime I searched for something, opening up a new page, YouTube, reddit, etc Firefox would go completely white, either for a few seconds or until I shook my cursor within the whiteness. At first this didn't happen too much, but now it's almost constant, and I'm a little afraid it might interfere with my work.

Additionally, this issue becomes worse whenever I open multiple PDF files. I open the first one, browser goes blank for a few seconds. Opon up the second, same thing happens, except now the first PDF is completely black and I can't have more than one open at a time.

I'm not sure what this is or what causes it, anything I've looked up hasn't really helped much, so I'd really be grateful if you guys could help me out.
