My friend recently was seated in a emergency row on a short flight. When the flight attendants came around to ask about passenger willingness/ability to help, the person across the aisle from her said "no." She said the flight attendant walked away looking a bit displeased, so she assumed the person was going to be reseated. They were not. It was a full flight. What happened here? CRJ-900 operated by Endeavor Air, if that helps.

Hi guys!
Today I flew with this coworker that I worked with before, who seems okay on paper but every single time I work with her I feel emotionally and mentally drained. She doesn't say a word to me, only strictly necessary stuff. Which I don't mind.
Literally for securing a table with a latch and the fact that I wrote a note on a box to make it easier to identify which box is which and for what, she was like: "After so much time why are you still trying to prove yourself?" Or something like that, which left me speechless and weirded out when I heard it because it's absolutely not the case. She also said she felt "disrespected", again, because of the reasons I explained.
Yesterday during boarding she was busy with some passengers in the back of the plane and I came from the front to see if I can help her somehow and speed up the process. Since I saw her busy in the back I decided to just go and do the briefings at the emergency exits myself, because everyone was already sitted there. Instead of saying something like "Thank you!" she was like: "Why did you do it? You shouldn't have done it, it's my duty. Next time ask me first before you do it." Like, can you spew a more toxic thing in a situation like a busy boarding?
Yet today every single flight she came securing the cabin towards me, even though that's not her duty. But hey, I didn't confront her or anything.
Today I felt like walking on eggshells and my other coworker also noticed that she was irrationally upset with me for virtually no reason.
You know the worst? I actually helped this person before and was super kind towards her. And now she does this.
Was this an emotional vampire? I was feeling drained in her presence without her saying a single word to me. I very, very rarely have such encounters.

As stated… I think I just over packed my travelpro suitcase and the tension with the laptop+soft case in the front “laptop” pocket of the suitcase caused it to break. Now I am paying $500 to get my screen replaced. :( I’ve been packing it this way for a few months but now, obviously, I won’t be.
How do you go about safely packing your laptop for layovers and such when our bags go every which way in overhead bins, vans, etc. Anyone else experienced this or have tips?
I am sooo determined for this to be the first and last time this happens. Eating the cost to fix is so frustrating!

Hi! I'm based in Korea and I'm currently in Houston. In Houston, do people usually drink iced tea before lunch? At a BBQ restaurant, when I sat at the table, the server asked me if I wanted iced tea, but the people next to us were drinking hot tea. the tea is which flavor? I love Houston, thank you!

Just got an email that i have a meeting in 2 weeks with inflight labeled at 35R close out meeting. Im on my last month of probation and have had to call out three times due to being sick. I dont have any late sign ins or missed trips, i had meetings for each sick call l even had dr notes as well.
In the meetings they told me during probation they are mostly looking for any late sign ins or missed trips, they dont weigh being sick as hard. That being said, one of my sick calls was a late call out, by 10 minutes.
Now two ish weeks later i get an email for a 35R close out meeting. I know other people in my graduating class have more points accumulated but at different bases.
Im super nervous, i dont want to lose this job ):
I guess im just looking fir any advice or if anyone has been in similar situations at all.
update : they dis say in the meetings that union rep has been arranged on my behalf

Is it true that working at WN is very racist??? If you have experienced a situation and feel comfortable sharing please share. Although I’m not at WN I would love to figure out a way that we can all come together to shine light on this issue….

A few days ago....
Heading to the airport... on the shuttle... Captain says:
"I'm going to stop at the coffee shop before I get to the gate? Anyone want anything? It's on me?"
First off... WOW. Thank you. VERY generous.
I was one of the four of five of us who said "No, Thank you."
While four out of five of us appreciated the offer... we all politely declined.
THEN CAME THE FIFTH:
"I'll take a large decaf vanilla latte with soy milk instead of regular milk, four extra shots of vanilla and one shot of Cappuccino."
I'm sorry.... What the actual fuck?
Why do the pilots STOP trying to do nice things for us? Because of bullshit like THIS?
Or am I the asshole for thinking this girl was way out of line?

Can I see how everyone stores their toiletries and makeup? I currently have everything in one big bag that I bought at TJMaxx, but I feel like it takes up half of my suitcase. I’m always looking for suggestions on how to pack, so any suggestions are appreciated!

recently started thinking more about cosmic radiation from flying and honestly it’s making me a little anxious 😭. I know flight attendants are exposed to more radiation than people who don’t fly regularly, especially with long-haul/high-altitude flights.
For those of you who have been flying for years — do you actually worry about it? Is there anything you do to reduce your exposure or protect yourself in any meaningful way?
I’ve seen people mention things like antioxidants, hydration, exercise, etc., but I’m not sure if any of that actually helps with radiation exposure or if it’s just wellness stuff.
Would love to hear from other FAs, especially anyone who has looked into their actual occupational exposure.
I’m 24 but a anxious girly

I am a somewhat anxious flier, and I can’t afford to fly very often but I recently saved up and flew first class for the first time (JFK—>PDX—>GEG) on AS and I could not have had a better, kinder group of people surrounding me. Jenn (who apparently usually does the route out of Boston and not JFK) and Jasmine were probably the nicest FAs I have ever encountered. I told Jenn I was afraid of flying and it was my first time in FC, and she said “I got you hon, I’ll check in on you don’t worry!” And she did. She chatted with me and my seat mate a bit, she was apparently getting married in 2 weeks and even gave my seat mate and I a sample of her homemade apple cake that she was going to make for her wedding!
I was put at ease, from the minute I walked on board and I just wanted to say thank you to AS and this crew. The pilots were really kind too! I also wrote this to Alaska Listens so hopefully it will get back to them, and they can know what a difference they made on my flight. Really grateful. 🙏❤️

Hey everyone! I’ve been flying about 1.5 years now & I’m prioritizing my wellbeing more as I’ve gotten accustomed to the job. What are some of your favorite beauty products to stay hydrated and look your best when flying? What wellbeing tips would you have for a new flight attendant?
Curious to read everyone’s responses!

I wanna know opinions.
I’m going from ewr to lax
a year into my flight attendant career,
seeing this as a journey in my life not necessarily the final pit stop and in a way “taste the different sides of life”
never lived on west coast but im drawn to a challenge so id like to know all opinions lay it on me

I’m a flight attendant and considering getting the Venture X, mainly for lounge access and travel benefits. I’m curious how useful it actually is for those of us who travel non-rev/standby a lot.
I’ve read that Capital One Lounges require a confirmed seat assignment, which obviously makes them less useful when you’re waiting to clear standby. But I’m wondering about Priority Pass lounges and whether you’ve had better luck getting into those with a standby boarding pass.
The annual fee on the Venture X is much more affordable than some of the other premium travel cards, which is a big reason I’m considering it. For those of you who have it, do you feel like it’s worth it as a flight attendant? Or if you use a different travel card that works better for non-rev travel, what do you recommend?

When did you return back to work after a kidney stone? I went to the ER Thursday with severe pain and found out I have a 4mm kidney stone and kidney infection. I did pass the stone and just working on the infection. It's my first one. So I'm new here 🤣

This is gross, I’m sorry
It’s getting to a point where I’m embarrassed and feel like pax thing I’m gross. I’ll be doing service and DRIPPING, and have to run to my galley to wipe my face. When I get to my hotel I feel wet all over from sweating. Luckily I don’t smell, I’m just like moist. It’s so gross and embarrassing. Does anyone else have this issue and if so, how tf do you combat it? I’ve been freezing out the cabin but pax and other crew members complain so I end turning it up.

Hi everyone, I am freaking myself out because I have a meeting with my performance manager. Long story short I missed my van time and delayed departure by 7 mins. I’m on probation, but I have no prior infractions and I’m just really scared and scared of losing my job 😭 if this has happened to anybody please give me some peace of mind.

Hello, I am going to be a new SFO based FA by the middle of September. I am going to be commuting from out of state so I am looking for a room or back house ADU/guest bedroom set up for cheap (since I’m still paying rent at my current home).
If it’s a whole house and not just a room I would be interested in making it a Crashpad with a few other FA friends of mine.
Please let me know any advice on potential best places to look for something affordable near SFO airport.
Also is Sacramento too far?

I miss bid and I got awarded turns that get in at 1am. I can’t work turns, too much ubering for low value. I’m trying to trade them into any form of a multi day. I keep getting the “not enough reserves” but I don’t understand? Please help!
