Amid the bustle of travelers at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport was a family holding back tears. 

Magdalena Jimenez Juan sat with her four children, ages 15-31, and a family friend. Each waited silently until it was their turn to say goodbye. Each hug freed them to cry. 

Immigration and Customs Enforcement ordered her to board a deportation flight to Guatemala on Aug. 27 after 18 years of permitting her to live in the United States. It may be years until she sees her children again, whose fate is uncertain. 

Taking them with her is out of the question, the family said. Sons Yoni, 18, and Rafa, 31, share a rare genetic neurological disorder. Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease damages the peripheral nerves in their limbs, reducing their strength and sensory function over time. Yoni also has scoliosis and is deaf in one ear, so Rafa does most of the talking on his behalf. 

“Caring for him and his brother is a full-time job,” Magdalena said in Spanish on July 31. “It would be even harder to care for them in Guatemala.” 

No one likes you. All you stand for is heat and school. September at least has a holiday. What does August have? Ungatz!

Saw this today while walking in Juno Beach FL. Have never seen a spider this size here until now. About as big as my hand.

Hi! It’s been raining a lot where I live and a lot of the insects have been appearing in my home. Here’s a pic of a spider I killed. What type of spider is it? I’d say it was about two inches big when its legs were spread out. (Sorry for the pet hair on the carpet)

I need your honest and uncensored opinions on different areas.

I currently live in Tampa, FL. I moved here about 4 years ago. I’m originally from a small town up in the DMV. I love Florida and I have honestly loved living in Tampa, but between my monthly bills and the income I’m making in this area it has become a bit of a nightmare. I also do miss living in a smaller town and area. I don’t go out too much and keep to myself besides a small group of friends.

I haven’t traveled much outside of the Tampa Bay Area & some of the other areas I was reading about everyone was shitting all over them.

I know Tampa is great, but I am honestly a little bit traumatized from my time here. It has honestly been one bad thing after another. I am desperate for a change and fresh start at this point lol

I want to stay within an hour of the beaches and go somewhere dog friendly. I would also love to be closer to the springs

Areas I was considering and things I have heard so I need your confirmation lol
- Dunnellon (heard it’s smaller town that is developing
very fast and also boring)
- Inverness (small and boring)
- Brooksville (I know people who live there and love it)
- Spring Hill (heard it’s a little trashy)
- New Port Richie

I am also open to suggestions of other areas. I don’t want to be too far away from Tampa though.
I love the old Florida feel & also love cute downtowns and little local dive bars. Friendly locals as well

Just moved from out of state. Had the most traumatizing experience with a palmetto bug a few days ago. Found this dead already in my bathroom today. I have not seen anymore than this one. Pest control did come out yesterday to spray. I’m just freaking out I may have a HUGE problem on my hands. Let me know your advice and what you think!!!

Hi everyone! I have a couple hair treatment clinics in Brazil and I'm doing a lot of research because I wanna open one in the US. I've lived in the US for a couple years, studied there and have all the documents. But I lived in Boston and Los Angeles. I've never lived in Florida. The thing is that I really wanna open it there because of the weather and just seems like it's a place that people care more about their looks. I've been wondering if Miami is the way to go or if I should consider Orlando or other cities. Any suggestions?

Currently, google maps is showing me that it takes 1h 35min to drive from Melbourne to Jupiter with no traffic. I don't live in the area and was wondering what Friday mornings typically look like on the road between 5AM-8AM? I need to get to jupiter dive center by 8AM

Recently the water pressure of my shower has be weaker than it usually was. Not sure if its due to something outside of my control and its an HOA issues I can bring up to them. But if its something I can fix involving my shower head by taking it apart please let me know if its one or the other
