Is this the lowest Endfield ever did? Oof...

Despite all the fixes that this game has made (based on what other people have mentioned), I feel like a glaring issue for Endfield is the combat.

It’s just so clunky compared to top games such as Genshin/ZZZ/(wuwa, though I don’t play it, I’ve seen some combat showcases). Something about the attack animations seem really rigid(?) which is why I eventually stopped playing after Fangyi’s release. Idk if that’s changed, but that was my personal gripe with the game and I really gave it a good chance by playing it for a bit.

It's the combat and the story being toothless.

They should have stuck with tactical RPG like combat and improved it as it seemed promising and stood out in comparison to the rest of the industry. The original combat was very situational, tactical and crowd control focused with character skills being directly targetable and more characters having CC capabilities. Each class had a more defined role. Dungeons had very different kind of pacing that was more Baldurs Gate 3 than ZZZ.

By going all in on action combat it just gets compared to big shots and looking average at best.

The next part is story. The storytelling drove away the OG AK fandom which stuck through AK content droughts and issues. What fueled year one of AK was all the discussions fandom had about the story and character decisions and the morality of those decisions and this doesn't have that. The story and worldbuilding feel so themepark-y and toothless here. There's no real reason to keep being excited for next patch when most things get resolved in same patch and there's nothing to discuss or debate.

I feel like if to save the game they need to go all in to fixing story, as well as to completely overhaul the combat.

Yes, the reason we have dodgeslop now is because beta testers whined.

However, most of beta testers were specifically not AK players as HG gave priority to Genshin and big games CCs and players in selection proccess.

And after their whining, instead of actually iterating and improving a unique and more tactical system, they abandoned it for something so much more generic and braindead.
