I don't play enough to rank up more than maybe 1 rank every other week. I'm currently in Gold III but peaked Champion (I think around 1450 rated) in the OG ranked system. It feels really discouraging going up against players 600 rating below me in like 90% off games. I don't want to dunk on them and I don't think they want me to dunk on them either.

I don't think this is a good game philosophy to keep new players engaged in the ranked part of this game. If I started out ranked back at first release and went up against my current self I would probably quit ranked pretty quickly because it's just not fun.

The game was way more fun when I got people around my skill level and a pro player like Zi8gzag or Blinky every now and then. I'm winning round 2–5 every single game on the easiest possible locations, against people who think I'm cheating because they don't know where Izmir, Indianapolis or Punta Arenas are on the map, while I 5k.

Ranked is just not fun and the current ranked system keeps me down here because I don't want to spend hours a week on the game.

How have I not yet had a single location in Mexico or USA and only 1 in Canada? Could it be because StreetView density is much higher in Europe compared to NA?

What level would you consider advanced, or what level opponent would you consider a tough challenge?

Good day to you fellow players. Finally I decided to play the official maps I was always told to avoid (I want to fill the map on my profile with some colour, platinum would be ideal, lol) and I've been trying to get as best a score as possible. And while I usually find the city or location I often have trouble locating the exact spot. I always try to look for some landmarks like maybe some big companies (car retailer etc.) and get burned because they are not always on the map. Should I look for like a church or historical landmarks and from the trace the street?

Feel like a flash card style system would help me remember meta more

Not sure what's going on, I can zoom everywhere on my computer except during a match unless its the map to make a guess. When I look at the replay its the same issue.

First time i 5ked it, 2nd I checked and 5ked and now i just plonked it in 12 seconds

90% of the maps wont load, even during gameplay, this just started happening today and i closed and opened browser, restarted pc, and this still didnt fix. How do i fix this?

Geoguessr just announced the new map rotation, starting tomorrow.

I don't even need to post it, it's the same as last month, only Yellow Belly was replaced with Competitive World for Master+ NM. This is now the third month in a row we have A Moving World and A progression World

What even is the purpose of having a map rotation if the maps don't rotate? First of all, there is now a serious problem of repeats. Already in the past month players have had several repeats in ranked, this problem will only increase. Secondly, many players dislike the handpicked nature of maps like AMW. Of course, many people feel the exact opposite way and of course you can't make everybody happy. But that is exactly what map rotation is for!

This is very frustrating and I have no understanding for this incredible laziness where even just picking a different map out of the many community favorite maps is too much to ask

(My bad for the header "states" instead of "countries." My mind went blank) What's your average and highest record on pin 195 countries on Seterra on Geoguessr? Mine is around 5-6 minutes, as you can see in the photo. I have to pause for like a second with the small countries like Gambia, Singapore, Brunei, Luxembourg, etc. I swear I hit 4 minutes once... However, I unfortunately lost access to that account. Do you guys have any tips how to get faster?

idk if taking this to reddit actually helps at all or not, but i've heard that it works for some people so i thought it was at least worth a try.

on july 29th, i played this duel and i won, but the opponent was sus of me during the last couple of rounds. i kinda forgot exactly what they said because it was a while ago now, but after round 8 they said something along the lines of "...interesting last minute switch". to be fair my round 8 was kinda sus if you don't know me but if you do then you know i'm just dumb ☠️. just for the record i did learn swedish bus stops at some point and i was trying really hard to remember in that round lol. after they sent that chat, i was typing for a while explaining the whole bus stop thing, so i stood still for a bit in round 9 and didn't have much time to guess. round 9 though is not sus at all to me because of the triangle connector in the pole, so i'd hope that i didn't somehow get banned for that, otherwise i'd have some serious questions as to who's reviewing these games to ban people (to the uninitiated: while those triangles are indeed common in west java, they can also be found in riau and south sumatra. riau makes more sense with the oil palms so i middle clicked it and accidentally plonked the 5k). anyway, after playing that game, i woke up the next day to see that i somehow got permanently banned with zero explanation as to why. i can only assume it was the aforementioned game otherwise i don't really know what else it could be. i tried emailing both [support@geoguessr.com](mailto:support@geoguessr.com) and [info@geoguessr.com](mailto:info@geoguessr.com), but neither responded at all. i've googled some other cases of this issue and it seems like other people at least got sent some game replays as proof as to why they got banned, but i didn't get sent anything like that. so yeah that's why i'm on reddit despite never using it lol.

so uh yeah overall idk hopefully i get unbanned and stuff. honestly i don't really care that much if i specifically get unbanned since solos are more fun anyway, but i kinda think it's unfair to think that other people who do enjoy duels might be playing fairly and also get banned for no good reason other than the opponent just being salty that they lost. sets a bad precedent y'know. also, i don't expect this post to get much attention, but if anyone wants me to clarify any of my guesses i can try to explain them
