⛔Travel Issue Upper berth me , thinking where should I go?

I today took train SangaMitra express between KR Puram to Chennai .
This is a morning train and the KR Puram station is literally 10-15 mins from the main Bangalore terminal.

By the time I got into the train, these people into this 15 mins have laid berth and spelt off.

My seat is upper berth and it’s not very comfortable sitting there. For now I have sat in the side lower as those are vacant for now. If these seats get occupied I am planning on asking them to get up

But my question is , it’s 9 30 AM and the train just started, how can you sleep right away. Note: it’s not only my seat I can see 60 to 70% of the coach people have already lied down

🗫 Discussion [solo female traveler] Did I do something wrong? Onboard cleaning staff tracked me down to guilt-trip me over a RailMadad complaint, and I don't know how to handle this.

Hey everyone, I'm currently traveling as a solo female, and I'm feeling super shaken up and second-guessing myself.

The washroom in my coach was genuinely disgusting, so I did what you're supposed to do and raised a cleanliness complaint on the RailMadad app. But instead of just getting it cleaned, the onboard cleaning staff actually tracked me down at my seat.

They weren't yelling, but they were visibly annoyed and stood over me giving me a massive guilt trip. They questioned why I used the app instead of calling the direct numbers on their coach posters, and complained that their money gets deducted or their metrics get hit when people use RailMadad. Then they tried to force their personal phone numbers onto me so I'd contact them directly next time instead of filing official complaints.

I flat-out refused to take their numbers, which made the whole interaction super awkward while they kept lecturing me about how "our money gets deducted this that" before walking away.

Sitting there alone, having a guy come find my specific seat to grill me over wanting a clean washroom felt so intimidating. Did I do something wrong by using RailMadad instead of calling them directly? Is this normal?

If this happens again, what is the best way to handle it in the moment to shut it down safely without making things worse, especially traveling alone?

🗫 Discussion TT and passenger trying to make me feel guilty for asking my lower berth seat

I stepped into the train, found my seat and one lady in 50s was sleeping on my lower berth seat and she said those same words that I hear every time that she has pain in her legs etc etc.

I refused and she vacated my seat and TT came and saw us both settling tried to make me feel guilty that why can't Isleep on middle berth and I did evil to disturb that old lady.

My parents are also in late 60s, i only book tickets for them if lower berth is available and i do not expect anyone to feel mercy for my parents.

📜Travel Story Sharing my last year's experience on a train

Pic taken minutes before this exact situation happened

Was travelling on 12423 DBRT Rajdhani to delhi last year, the train just departed from DDU at around 1 am, it did not even skipped the station yet, so i was drinking cold coffee on the coach gates and a random didi (she was older than me, probably 23-24) came to me from a different coach with her luggage and asks me where is this train going, i said delhi, she panicked and said she had to go to guwahati and some bhaiya made her board into a wrong train, i believe they probably saw dibrugarh <--> new delhi banner on the train and made her board (since most dibrugarh trains stop at guwahati), she asked me what to do. i have to admit, i am not used to these situations, this was my first solo ride in the train, and i did not really know what to do, i woke up the coach attendee, he was in no mood for helping and said to pull the chain, the girl told me to pull it and i panicked, because i was scared that i might get fined or smth, till then the train had skipped the station, i was lowkey perplexed why did she not pull it herself, she was panicking as well, and i genuinely did not know what to do, lucky for me, a policeman was passing by and i told him the situation and he had a conversation with that lady, i overheard him say that this train will not stop and she probably deboarded at prayagraj, she most likely missed her train and i felt sad for her but at the same time i realised how stupid you are to not check your own ticket. I also had a thought to tell her to jump because the train was slow and at the platform at that time, but it was quite risky and had she been injured, she might have accused me of some crime, so i just got back to my berth and slept. What could i have done differently?

Ask r/IndianRailways First time travelling alone in 3AC as a woman - overnight journey + middle berth. Any tips?

Upvotes

It's my first time travelling alone in 3AC, and unfortunately I've been allotted the middle berth. The journey is overnight, from around 9 PM to 7:20 AM.

I'm a little anxious about travelling alone at night, especially as a woman. For those who travel frequently, what are some dos and don'ts, safety tips, or things I should keep in mind?

Any advice would be really appreciated!
