Hey everyone, I'm currently traveling as a solo female, and I'm feeling super shaken up and second-guessing myself.
The washroom in my coach was genuinely disgusting, so I did what you're supposed to do and raised a cleanliness complaint on the RailMadad app. But instead of just getting it cleaned, the onboard cleaning staff actually tracked me down at my seat.
They weren't yelling, but they were visibly annoyed and stood over me giving me a massive guilt trip. They questioned why I used the app instead of calling the direct numbers on their coach posters, and complained that their money gets deducted or their metrics get hit when people use RailMadad. Then they tried to force their personal phone numbers onto me so I'd contact them directly next time instead of filing official complaints.
I flat-out refused to take their numbers, which made the whole interaction super awkward while they kept lecturing me about how "our money gets deducted this that" before walking away.
Sitting there alone, having a guy come find my specific seat to grill me over wanting a clean washroom felt so intimidating. Did I do something wrong by using RailMadad instead of calling them directly? Is this normal?
If this happens again, what is the best way to handle it in the moment to shut it down safely without making things worse, especially traveling alone?
