I personally don't agree with the depiction of the wasp, as they've always been super gentle in my experience, but the rest are pretty accurate.

Right now I’m developing a story that’s kinda hard to explain; but what’s important is that I’m trying to write these characters, Anise and Morpho. I want their personalities and abilities to be loosely based off of bees and butterflies respectively. I already have some ideas, but I was curious if there’s anything peculiar about these bugs that I can integrate into these characters.

Hello. Please help me identify this. I have been losing it over these very tiny bugs in my cat litter (even immediately after cleaning) and now I have spotted one in my shower. This is the clearest photo I have been able to get so far, and I know the side view is blurry but that's what makes me think it might be a roach the way it crawls. Maybe a brown banded cockroach, but it seems a little small compared to even the nymphs. My boyfriend thinks gnat or some type of fly but I tried to get it to fly away and it only crawls. Please help me identify this bug, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much.

i got as close as possible and zoomed in as far as i could. i'm kinda scared of it cuz idk what it is. it's in my bathroom and theres multiple spread around close/inside my shower. i'm in the us south, it's been pretty hot and humid for months, even in my apartment. it's reallyyyy small, like maybe a centimeter? idk. none of my roommates have said anything about them either

i was downstairs then i go upstairs to my room and im greeted by a crane fly which freaks me out and i am back downstairs currently

ik crane flies arent mosquitos or blood sucking so they arent even dangerous just dumb and i cant flippin throw anything at it cuz then itll just completely ignore it or get one shotted

but i cannot get it out of my room and i would like to sleep without knowing that some creature is in my room flying about and probably will accidentally bump into me

i opened the window and offed the light when i saw it but didnt leave the door closed and the hallway light to my room is on so that probably isnt very good

also theres another one chilling above the stairs i do not want 2 of them in my room most prefferably they can both just be outside

so how do i safely get crane fly out of my room, maybe non safely but this is insect reddit so probably dont like insects being killed

i hope this doesnt sound mean. crane flies are nice just at a distance

I saw this thing in early July. I live in northern Sweden and I was at a beach in a forest. I saw it in the water and picked it up because I thought it was a moth or something. But when I put it on a rock, I noticed that it almost looked like some type of crab because it had this long, hard shell that it crawled out from just like a crab. But I've never seen one before, so I'm hoping that anyone knows what it is!

Saw this guy hauling his dinner as I was working near the garage. It spent about 10 minutes trying to find a hole big enough in the molding on the garage. KY, USA

kinda scuffed result, it has a closed back but made with too thick paper so mandibles are too thick. also, the elytra and wings are too small to make the design more efficien.

roommates was bit by something three days ago. she found the remains of this bug near her bathroom but no signs of any other culprits. It doesn’t look like a tick more like a beetle of some kind but she’s having a severe reaction so going to urgent care until we figure it out. any possible ID is helpful!

I live in dallas, tx and this was around 1am and I have never seen these insects around my door, i’m curious as to what they are.

I’ve found about three so far only in my bathroom and they are creeping me out. I can’t seem to get a good picture of them because they won’t stop moving. They do have wings but don’t fly much. Located in the Midwest if that helps!
