Question What kind of iPad should I buy

Upvotes

I’m a university student and I wanted to buy a IPad for taking notes. Thats pretty much all I would use the iPad for maybe watch a video here and there, but its main objective is to just be able to take good notes. Should I buy the IPad 11inch A16 128GB with a Apple Pencil (usb c) for 503 dollars or should I just buy a refurbished iPad? If refurbished then any advice on what kind or where to buy one?

Question Battery Health low! How long will it last me?

Post image

I have used my iPad Air M2 Pro Heavily for the past two years

I guess the battery health is bad now but it still works for now, I was wondering how long until it lasts? Like most Macs start malfunctioning after 80%… is there such a number for the iPad as well?

Also, can I get the battery replaced by 3rd party? I know apple doesn’t replace battry for an iPad officially…

It serves its purpose for me well, I wanna get atleat 2-3 more years out of it

Question Bauhn bluetooth keyboard switching" and @ iPad pro 9.7"

British. My 'shift' + '2' is giving me '@' instead of ' " '. I've changed it to English UK but it won't change it to what it should be and not sure where to go from here. Doesn't do it on other devices. Have restarted both and reconnected, to no avail.

Discussion Multitasking on ipad

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone,

I recently got an iPad Air M4 13-inch with an Apple Pencil Pro, mainly for work, reading, and taking notes. I spend most of my day sitting at my PC for work, so I wanted something that would let me continue reading/studying and taking notes from the couch without having to go back to my PC and sit at a desk again.

The problem is that, after a few days of using it, I'm really struggling with the multitasking and note-taking experience. I'm mainly using Notability for notes, and I'm wondering if I'm just using it wrong or if this is something other people experience too.

My biggest issue is Scribble/text boxes. When I want to type something using the Apple Pencil, it seems like I have to write directly next to the line/text box. When I'm taking notes, the available space can be pretty tight, and it doesn't feel natural or comfortable to constantly have to position myself in a specific spot.

I also find myself constantly having to manually resize the text box every time I start writing. I've tried making the text box much wider so I can write from basically anywhere on the page, but then Notability will randomly move the text to the next line, meaning I have to go back and adjust the box again.

At that point, it honestly feels like it's taking more effort than just going back to my PC, opening Google Docs, and typing with a keyboard — which is exactly what I was trying to avoid by getting the iPad in the first place.

Idk if I'm doing it wrong or if there are other better apps for this but it really feels like pain

I'm completely new to using an iPad for this kind of workflow, so I'd really appreciate any tips or recommendations. I really want to make the iPad work for this rather than giving up and going back to my PC every time.

Discussion I needed a lock that would not open just because I knew the code

Work blocks never stuck for me because I always had a way back into Instagram. Screen Time was just a passcode I already knew by heart.

Now those apps stay locked until I actually start the work, and I unlock with a photo. Dottle is what I use. Still messy some afternoons, but I cannot cheat it with four digits.

Question Ipad air vs s11

For notes what would be best? I use a windows laptop and an iphone so idt the ecosystem is that important. But i absolutely love the apple pencil pro. The thing with the samsung is that it’s cheaper by 100 dollars assuming i factor in the cost for the apple pencil pro and i get a pen and keyboard included with the s11. What should I doooo

Accessories ZUGU case TPU edge turned yellow/brown after only 2–3 days…..defect or normal?

My ZUGU iPad case was completely normal when I received it, but after only 2–3 days the TPU edge has developed this yellow/brown discoloration.
I’ve gently cleaned it with mild soap and water, but nothing comes off. It seems like the material itself has changed colour.
Has anyone else experienced this with a ZUGU case? Is this normal or does it look like a defective piece?
I’ve already contacted ZUGU and the seller, but I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who’s had the same thing happen.

Question iPad 10 gen does not charge

Hello, I have a 10-gen iPad for 2 years and two days ago I stopped charging, I took it to the apple and the only solution is that I took it to the mediamark (that if you live in Spain you know that it is shit for the guarantees) or paying €350 for a discontinued iPad. I don't know what to do to someone It has happened to him

Thanks

Discussion iPad Air M2 White Patches DIY FIX

Thumbnail

Since Apple and its distributors are not admitting that this is a device/parts defect, I decided to make my own research and did a DIY fixing (somehow). They say that my iPad is out of warranty which is true. I live in the Philippines and I bought this from an authorized distributor. They only said I can bring it in for a technical assesment.

Since updating to ios 26 I noticed that my iPad Air M2 started showing small white patches. I do gaming ang drawing on my iPad but I don't apply a lot of pressure on it since I know it's a screen. I had this device since Nov. 2024 and it's Sept. 2026 now. If you check my battery health, I do use it a lot but I want to say that battery health is still good for an iPad that's almost 2 years old. Feel free to comment about this.

‼️DIY FIX STARING HERE‼️ ‼️DO AT YOUR OWN RISK‼️ ‼️DO AT YOUR OWN RISK‼️ ‼️DO AT YOUR OWN RISK‼️

I read on YT and here on Reddit that some people tried to apply heat on their iPad with the same white patch issue, so I decided to try it since the patches on my screen are getting bigger.

DAY 1: I used our iron for clothes as a heat source and a handkerchief as some kind of barrier. DO NOT DIRECTLY PUT AN IRON ON YOUR SCREEN! USE A TOWEL OR CLOTH IN BETWEEN THE SCREEN AND IRON!! I mostly heated the screen on the first day. Iron the parts that have the white patches for 10-15 second and flip the cloth then apply heat again on the other side. I also wiped the cloth on the device after heating thinking that this will spread heat more. I repeat this process until the screen is hot to touch about three to four flips of cloth. Then I let it cool down completely. I repeat this process for 30 mins. (Heat > Cool Down > Heat > Cool Down) (I even got a notification that my iPad was too hot at one point. 😝😂) There's still some white patches after but I decided to do it again the next day. I did some gaming for 2 hours that night and the patches that disappeared did not return. Thankfully.

DAY 2: I did the same process on the first day but this time I also heated the back side where the white patches are. Heat the LCD until hot to touch then the back side same process. (At some point some of the previous white patches showed up again but I just continued with the process.) I remembered we have a portable fan that can direct air to the ipad speaker grills. While cooling it down, I just make sure that air is going through the speaker. Note: Air can go through the device more through the speaker grill that's away from the Touch ID. (Don't know why.) I did it for 15 mins this time and made lunch after. I decided to try again after eating. I also did some screen massage with a little pressure while cooling it down thinking this will release any moisture in the white patch. It actually did remove the small ones especially in the middle. Tried this for about 3-4 times. The last screen picture is what I have left now. Hoping the white patches don't come back.

My iPad is in our rice container now hoping this will also remove more moisture from the device. Wish me luck!

Will update again if any changes occur. 🙇🏻‍♀️

iPadOS Ipad can’t charge

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello! I’ve had this ipad for years (Air 5th gen) and it wont charge.

When I plugged it the charger today, the battery icon’s outline is grey (which is usually white). And it would sometimes blink from grey to white. Also, even when the charger is plugged in, it keeps connecting then disconnecting from the charger repeatedly going from charging to not charging.

I tried restarting the ipad, cleaning the ports, and using a different charger but nothing changes.

Also tried rebooting from my mac but it wont let me connect since the battery is too low.

Was hoping to find a solution before I get it fixed in a shop.

Thank you so much

Question Is tethering cellular data/internet from an iPhone to an iPad still slow/unreliable?

Is tethering cellular data/internet from an iPhone to an iPad still slow/unreliable?

I use an iPhone 11, would like to use the iPad to watch shows/streams if using the internet (tethered).

I’ve no wifi at the place I’m staying, it will be either an iPad A16 2025 or the version before it.

Discussion wait for the iPad mini or just grab one now?

IDK if its even worth it over the regular iPad, air and pro...although I don't care for the pro tbh

I mainly will use it for school, reading slides and writing lecture notes. And also use it as a Ereader due to the size.

I could buy a current iPad mini refurbished but I just don't want but an aging product that would become slow within the year or two.

Question iPad for college freshman

I'm a freshman starting this semester and thinking through how I'd use an iPad alongside my MacBook Air. Main use cases would be handwritten notes for econ/stats classes (so probably a good bit of equations/graphs) and making social media posters for a couple of clubs I'm in. I don't game and don't plan on watching video on it, so it'd be pretty focused on those two things.

Curious to hear from people using their iPad for similar coursework + design workflows! What's actually mattered for you day to day, and has anything about your model surprised you (good or bad)?

Question What kind of issue is this?

Sometimes while using it, the screen starts turning black from the edges inward like burning paper, and eventually goes completely black.

Then, when I turn it back on later, it goes right back to normal!
