Hey jumper friends! We've seen a large uptick in volume of posts asking for name suggestions, most of them having the "Advice" flair. Even though it is a request for advice of sorts, name requests don't need the same disclaimers as comments on care/husbandry and we would like to encourage everyone to use simply the "Media" flair on those types of posts. (This will also prevent the automod filter from flagging comments without disclaimer tags as that is only a feature of the "Advice" threads) <3

Found this little guy in between the leaves of my plant. He hung around for like 2 days but has moved out since. Sorry my crappy iPhone zoom doesnāt do him justice
Location: Northern Illinois
Are these pretty common here? Is he a baby? He was so tiny.

Made a portrait of my baby, learning how to do spider portraits. Send your babies and I will practice and send them your way, just trying to get practice. Anyone else do drawings or paintings of jumpers? Iād love to see for inspo.

Hi everyone, I'm not really a spider fan. Actually I have severe arachnophobia. This little guy was in my car. I was getting ready to take my teenage son to high-school. I saw this guy on my dashboard and my daughter jumped out of the car without warning me and when I saw it, I too jumped out of the car. My son had not come out of the house yet. My daughter finds the spider cute so she laughed while I pondered how I would get my son to school. Long story short, I called a lyft and now my car will sit there for a while as I do not know where the spider went. Location of this little guy in Indiana.

Picked up our first jumping spider (bubbles as named by our 4 year old) this weekend. Didn't realise that I liked jumping spiders as much as I do..

So I live in Northern VA just outside of Washington DC and I was grilling some burgers when this guy stopped and said hi.
I donāt know if anyone can identify it but Iām interested in knowing. My daughter of course wanted to keep it but I explained we didnāt have a proper enclosure setup and if itās an adult jumper his/her hammock would be close by.
Now my kid wants a pet jumping spider so I started researching. Nice to see this subreddit, Iām experienced with bioactive enclosures and have kept many inverts in the past. Jumping spiders donāt seem overly complicated and the enclosure size is small compared to some of my past animals. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.
Thanks

So after some thought about interacting with my jumping spiders I finally decided to interact with her and let her out of her enclosure to see her explore. Within seconds she was gone⦠I couldnāt find her anywhere and Iām devastated. Did I do something wrong? I see so many people interacting with their jumpers I thought it would be okay. I have autism and just feel totally lost.

So, is it safe to rate the seller poorly and try to identify them as a scam at this point? I donāt want to hurt a small business, but at this point I feel Iāve been more than patient and understanding. No refund. No spider. But I still felt bad putting in the rating.
Three small bug businesses have taken my money in June and still not delivered, refunded, or resolved the issues. Itās so disappointing when these people can keep up with social media marketing but canāt make situations like this right.

Itās been far too long since Iāve seen my sweet wild baby, Queenie. She laid eggs within about a week of my scooping her off my front porch mid-July. Today she has emerged fully and I separated her from the hammock of babies in a fine mesh butterfly net. I am so excited to take care of as many of these lil fellas as I can!

Iāve wanted a jumper for awhile now & had already gotten an enclosure all set up for when I had a chance to go buy one from a pet store or breeder. However, I found this little thing Sunday evening & thought Iād try keeping it.
He/she (I canāt tell. Any tips are appreciated) seems to have acclimated somewhat well. Itās moving about the enclosure & seems curious, but a part of me feels bad for taking it from the wild. Even though the āwildā it was living in was the metal siding on our house š . Iāve ordered some mini mealworms to try and feed it today, so weāll see how that goes. If it doesnāt eat in 2 days, Iāll likely release.
I just wanted to see what everyoneās opinions are on wild caught? Is it okay to do that? Has anyone had any luck keeping them & them thriving?
Also, can anyone tell me what itās doing in the video? I tried researching & couldnāt find anything. Iām assuming it could be a reaction to me having the flash on to video š«£
