Made a portrait of my baby, learning how to do spider portraits. Send your babies and I will practice and send them your way, just trying to get practice. Anyone else do drawings or paintings of jumpers? I’d love to see for inspo.

Advice Goodbye Friend

Post image

So after some thought about interacting with my jumping spiders I finally decided to interact with her and let her out of her enclosure to see her explore. Within seconds she was gone… I couldn’t find her anywhere and I’m devastated. Did I do something wrong? I see so many people interacting with their jumpers I thought it would be okay. I have autism and just feel totally lost.

Hello! I’ve had this pretty little p. Ardens since she was a sling and I’ve lost track of the instars. Is the dot on her abdomen an epigynum?

Are these okay for a jumping spider enclosure? I noticed they shed little hairs so wasn't sure if that would be bothersome to a little spooder. The moss mat isn't as spiky as the moss stones so maybe that would be okay? Any help is appreciated thanks

Advice Please help! Is my jumping spider dead or did she just molt? (Possible dead spider warning) Spoiler

I adopted my spider, meatball, last July as an i7. She has been hiding in her hide for the past week or so, and last molted with the breeder on 7/13. I thought she was due to molt, but she came out and wanted to me fed. I gave her a cricket and saw her eating, then left. I came bay a few hours later to find this. I have no idea how it could have happened unless it's just her molt? I've never been with her through a molt before.

I was thinking about putting it outside before realizing it would probably be difficult to pick up. I put some water on a Q-tip and left it be; any advice for things I can do to make this tiny spooder’s life better?

Advice Is she still kind of thin after eating?

Sorry for the blurry video. This girl loves to leave behind a lot of webbing so the video was hard to capture through it. My question is, is she still too thin? I usually feed my spoods based off belly size but recently I feel like Im not sure what to think. She just molted on the 21st of August into an I8. I fed her 6 days later on the 27th. On the 29th she looked thin still. Thinner than she does in the video so I fed her again and she ate. I then saw no change yesterday so I fed her one more time. She happily ate. I dont want to feed her again because I dont want to go overboard. She looks a little bigger today but still on the thin side. What do you think? Is it all in my head? Does she look ok? She use to get nice and round after eating before her last Molt. She is still pretty active and behaves normally

Identification This big guy was watching me grill

So I live in Northern VA just outside of Washington DC and I was grilling some burgers when this guy stopped and said hi.

I don’t know if anyone can identify it but I’m interested in knowing. My daughter of course wanted to keep it but I explained we didn’t have a proper enclosure setup and if it’s an adult jumper his/her hammock would be close by.

Now my kid wants a pet jumping spider so I started researching. Nice to see this subreddit, I’m experienced with bioactive enclosures and have kept many inverts in the past. Jumping spiders don’t seem overly complicated and the enclosure size is small compared to some of my past animals. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Thanks

Found this little guy in between the leaves of my plant. He hung around for like 2 days but has moved out since. Sorry my crappy iPhone zoom doesn’t do him justice

Location: Northern Illinois

Are these pretty common here? Is he a baby? He was so tiny.

It’s been far too long since I’ve seen my sweet wild baby, Queenie. She laid eggs within about a week of my scooping her off my front porch mid-July. Today she has emerged fully and I separated her from the hammock of babies in a fine mesh butterfly net. I am so excited to take care of as many of these lil fellas as I can!
