Show-and-Tell Finally pulled the trigger 🤙🏻
Hopefully the guy I bought it from doesn't see this so I dont dox myself 😂
Picked up a working road bike and a mostly intact parted offroad only bike over the weekend after searching for months for a good deal. Not pictured is 3 buckets of parts off the one bike, he scavenged the engine out of it.
Bike is in pretty good shape for 20 years old I'd say. Gave it a once over before sending it for its safety, only thing is it may need some brake adjustment.
There were some questionable changes made by the seller in between me seeing it the first time and me picking it up. Not sure why the drain plug was replaced with a normal bolt or why he wrapped the exhaust but that is used bikes for you.
I'm sure I'll be posting more as I tinker on it, I really want a rally tower on it but that'll be a big project.

Ya i dont love the windshield. Granted i feel like all klr windscreens look dorky

Im holdimg off judgement till i get it up to proper highway speed. I do have a different one off the part bike

I wrapped the exhaust pipe on mine because the heat shield fell off going down the road.
I'd be wary of the drain plug since you are seeing it leaking and not be the factory style, I had a similar issue with mine. It ended up being the previous owner stripped the factory m12x1.5 (iirc) threads and threw in a m12x1.75 thread drain bolt with a head too wide for the washer's sealing surface.i bought an EM drain plug and a timesert kit, which so far has been a fantastic fix.

The weird thing is that id agreed to buy the bike as is... And they had the heat shields from the other bike in a box. I just screwed them on, no issues.
But yeah im thinking ill have to fix the drain bolt but that shouldn't be too bad.

Looks in decent shape. I have the ‘23 honda xr650l, and have buds with the klr650, that have had excellent reliability with them, and go almost anywhere i do, aside from the track, but that goes without being said. Otherwise, they beat me on comfort during longer asphalt hauls, but that i guess makes pretty even. Im thinking about picking a newer klr650 up myself, as a second bike, so lower or inexperienced riders, being friends and family, can join me riding once in awhile, might as well. Good luck you on the purchase, although i already know that reliability wise, you likely wont need it! It looks well kept!

The drain bolt may be an oversize as even a little bit of over torqueing can damage the case and create a leak.
