Long time lurker first time poster.

For about the past 10 years, I’ve been looking for a KLR, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the one I was fortunate enough to purchase yesterday. It’s a 2007, 5600 miles.

I’ve included pictures of all damage that could be found. Any guesses on how much she cost me? How much would you be willing to pay?

First time ever working on something like this and I definitely learned a lot! I took her apart, disassembled fairings and lights, sanded, and painted. Laid a UV clear coat over the paint to keep it protected.

I know its not 100% accurate, and ill have to add some teal on the top of the tank but I’m really happy with it! (And at the end of the day, its a KLR) The before look is on my page for reference of how far shes come!

Now i just need the decal kit lol

Let me know what yall think!!!

Went to cars and coffee today, and a buddy mentioned having a KLR650 he was trying to get rid of, asked for 600, took it home today. Runs fantastic, very comfortable ride. Cannot wait for more rides. Going to paint the plastics black and do an oil change. Super fun bike.

I just ordered new tires since the rear is almost bald and I added soft saddlebags to go with the tail luggage that came with it.

It's my daily commuter with very little intent to take off road except for gravely mountain roads.

Is the 16T sprocket really that good

Also does anyone else have a weird gap between 18-27 mph where the engine over revs in first or has too little gas in second unless I use my friction zone the whole time. I don't want to wear down the clutch any faster than I have to and it's just a pain in the ass when I'm stuck behind a slow driver or just a residential area.

(Edit) I'm planning on taking a trip from South Florida where I live up to the mountains in NC and then back. Hopefully I'll have time to do some shorter but still far rides to test things out but any suggestions for addons to make that ride more comfortable are appreciated

DR 650 fairing installed, with Baja designs light in a JNS engineering mount. The bike feels a lot lighter up front, and I can pop the front up much easier. I wish I knew exactly how much weight I’ve taken off.

Hello everyone! Wanted to share the love of the KLR, this is my first bike, $4500 for a 2023 KLR (base model) with only 437 miles on it! Super happy with the bike and wanted to ask if anyone had any advice for upgrades. Gonna put on bark busters, crash bars, saddle bags and the USB port or cigarette lighter charger on it. But wanted to see if upgrading wind screen is necessary (I’m a tall guy 6’4 and weight 230) or anything else you guys would suggest that made a difference!

Show-and-Tell My first real Motorcycle! 2025 KLR650 w/ABS

My first real bike! Before this, I had a 49cc Shwinn Scooter. I took the motorcycle safety class to refresh my abilities and knowledge. I used to ride dirt bikes as a kid and really missed the feeling.

I got crash bars, mirrors, foot pegs, windshield risers, rear pannier mounts, 45L top case, and a low-profile oil drain plug to install after my first oil change.

Luckily I live in a very small rural town with tons of backroads with little to no traffic, so I'm going to spend alot of time learning the in's and outs of this pig before attempting off-road and major freeway riding. I'm super excited.

Still no milk crate but I sure do run errands. All my bags are off now, but I used to run grocery errands and fill them up with frozen food and drinks. Today was a new one.

Friends, I fell off the wagon. I am a KLR addict. I realize this addiction impacts all those around me but I can't quit. 2008 with 8,981 miles. New Tusk tires. New battery. New crash bars. I think it was a score. $2500 I've missed my KLR since I sold it. This feels like home. I bask in my vice.

Dont go off my one receipt. The pump shut off on me. I have the other receipt underneath. Some highway 65-70mph...and I have fun twisting the throttle in town. So this would be my average mpg.

Found a collapsible milk crate at Walmart for $20. Took off my old milk crate and threw this one on there and it’s just as good, if not better than before. Now when it’s empty, it collapses up nice and sleek and doesn’t stick out nearly as much as before.

Ive got 1700 miles on it so far . Oil change was easy enough . Small mods easy enough. Rides great on road and im new to riding off road so it does great off road as well but me ... not so much lmao .

Would be interested in finding some riding buddies near cumberland county tn. And if anyone has any questions about the stuff ive put on it id be glad to share the info i have . Also considering three different tire options soon because the stock back one is already near its end.

  1. Pirelli mt90

  2. Motoz tractionator gps

  3. Shinko 705

Leaning mostly toward pirelli but feel free to throw out any opinions to help me make my decision. Thanks and god bless.

Looks good to me, just adds character lol. Not to mention, now it matches the other side! 😂

Should maybe invest in some crash bars though…

I've been busy building my budget unicorn. In the past I've posted some updates on the build but now I can say it's done, well, asides for little ods and ends. What is it?

It's a 02 Kawasaki KLR650C frame (huge capacity for luggage)

1982 Honda CM450 twin SOHC engine (it was cheap, it's heavy, easy to install, and sounds awesome)

1999 Suzuki DRZ250 suspension (showa 43mm fully adjustable), plastics and seat

Tonnes of little ods and ends, all with budget and performance in mind.

Let's talk numbers. Total cost roughly $2000 CAD

Weight 370lbs, suspension travel front 11 Inches, rear 9 inches, fuel capacity 10.5 liters, ground clearance over 12 inches, horsepower 40+/- (according to other builds using the same powertrain).

I will post a video later in the season with a write-up on what I like and dislike.

Hopefully the guy I bought it from doesn't see this so I dont dox myself 😂

Picked up a working road bike and a mostly intact parted offroad only bike over the weekend after searching for months for a good deal. Not pictured is 3 buckets of parts off the one bike, he scavenged the engine out of it.

Bike is in pretty good shape for 20 years old I'd say. Gave it a once over before sending it for its safety, only thing is it may need some brake adjustment.

There were some questionable changes made by the seller in between me seeing it the first time and me picking it up. Not sure why the drain plug was replaced with a normal bolt or why he wrapped the exhaust but that is used bikes for you.

I'm sure I'll be posting more as I tinker on it, I really want a rally tower on it but that'll be a big project.

I already have a 2007 KLR that is set up and I purchased it turn key, previous owner was the best you could ask for. This 2004 popped up locally and I felt the deal was too good to pass up. It’s certainly a project bike, but I’m feeling up to it. It starts right up, runs, and doesn’t seem to be leaking any major fluids. Speedo cable is missing, the choke cable snapped, and there is some rust. How’d I do?
