Housecleaning companies that will clean dead roaches and caked-on grime.
Title says it all, my husband and I moved into a unit with an insane German roach infestation and tons of caked-on/leftover food and grime from previous residents. Management bombed one room but is refusing to clean anything. Looking for a company that will deep clean and isn’t afraid of encountering and cleaning up roaches. Would also appreciate legal leads for getting out of our lease or stirring them into action. We’re very new to Memphis and new to experiencing an infestation like this.

WTF MLGW
So, I get that there's now a dumbass $1.50 charge for using a card to pay the bill. And I'd rather pay that than set up an ACH payment and cross my fingers for three days that it goes through.
But I paid the folks today (way more than deserved) and almost immediately received this email. It stated that the $1.50 fee was failed. Not the whole ass other bill. So, I'm not sure what to do. Did I pay my bill or not? Is the payment processor denying my payment b/c they couldn't get their chump change? I really don't get it.
I'd rather not spend three hours on hold with em tomorrow on company time. But I will.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what do? Fuck em?

High Schools
It's that time; I need to start looking for a high school. I looked through the posts; nothing about high schools. So I'm looking for a school that is diverse and has a great art program. No private schools, I can't afford it. Help me out people.

Countrywood/Carrollwood Lost Dog
Hey y'all, I just got home and saw this dog outside near Grandbury and Oak Hollow in Countrywood out in Cordova.
Just sharing so maybe there's some luck in finding the owner. No real collar on her. She is really friendly.

Any Cute/Girly Shops or Cafes Nearby?
I'm gonna be visiting my boyfriend in Memphis soon and have never been. There's a lot of places like this where I'm from (California) and have been looking to see if there's anything similar for when I visit. Looking for anything with a cute/girly aesthetic to check out, could be a shop or place to eat or really anything. I would love some recommendations :)

Housing Moving there soon. Help?
Let me start by saying I haven’t lived in the city since I was 16 and I’m finally back at the age of 35. I grew up in Whitehaven and then orange mound/ east Memphis.
I want to be close to the city (poplar/whitestation) for quality of life but there’s one area I’ve been looking at that I’m not sure about.
How do yall feel about the balmoral area? We’re down to two houses. One in Germantown and one in 38119.
Germantown: more walkable neighborhoods but the house will need remodeling.
Balmoral/lynnfield: house is remodeled but don’t know TOO much about the area.
Married, no kids, dog.

I must be WAY out of the loop... I knew nothing about this
"Repairs are nearing completion at the Mud Island Amphitheater as they work on lunch list items to bring it up to ADA standards! New stage coating, concrete repairs, new hand rails and much more!"
Saw this on a page called "Bring Back the Music: Mud Island Amphitheater" on FB. I had ZERO idea anyone was doing anything to refurb the place. They have a website (SaveTheAmphitheater.com) which I checked, but it pretty much is for merch sales and soliciting donations, not much news.

Pet Rescue Free/extremely low cost vet
Hello! I have a dog(not really)
He’s a cool dude chill asf and I would love to keep him since he gets along so well with my cats and resident dog
HOWEVER he has some issue going on with his skin. His back blisters up pretty bad and he’s always trying to chew at it. Weve been bathing him every other day woth recommended vet shampoo but it’s not helping and we don’t have the spare funds to take him into another vet
(Before y’all try to dog me about being poor with pets. We did not seek out another dog. A crackhead threw him In my car while I was stopped at a red light.)
Ive considered surrendering him. But hes skittish and a pit breed and ik mas has a pretty rough turn overrate. Hes also estimated to be about 3 years old and most people don’t adopt older dogs.
Is there any organizations that can help woth this?
Mhs won’t do actual vet help only neutering
And mas won’t do anything unless I surrender him but have already said medical help womt be an option until hes adopted.
EDIT FOR MOST FREQUENT QUESTIONS: 1. He is on nexguard flea/tick/heart worm roughly about 3 months now so we don’t think it’s fleas (on top of baths) and Benadryl
2. He has very limited outside time and onesies (and a cone) to prevent as much nawing as possible but the skin itself forms these weird dry rash looking patches
3. He is housed with the other animals just not allowed direct contact or share bowls, but since we’ve had him and he’s been showing these symptoms the other pets have not seemed to attract it so it’s not contagious.

Citizen Inquiry Driver Services Kiosks
Anyone know if any of the kiosks are working? The one at Germantown’s camera is messed up and won’t take a clear picture. I need to replace all my vital docs, and I don’t have another proof of identity to go in person, but my license is good, so I should be able to get that from a kiosk, hopefully, and then get the others.

Go check out Stomping Grounds on Central! It’s very cool inside :)
I just dropped into the newly opened Stomping Grounds on Central (formerly Railgarten) and was very impressed with the place. I’ve got a young child so this was the perfect place for the kiddo to play while us parents got to chill and eat some lunch. We didn’t order any drinks but I like that they’ve got the self service taps and we’ll definitely will be back another time to enjoy that aspect of it too.
This summer when we travelled to a big city, we kept looking for a place like this where one of us could use the WiFi to get some work done and our kid could still stay occupied and have a good time. Stomping Grounds is the exact kind of space we were hoping to find. I encourage you to check it out and support a new local business. Even if you don’t have kids, it would be great place to meet up with your friends that do to coax them to get out of the house more.
The pictures I saw beforehand don’t do it justice either: it’s bright and colorful and open inside. All the kids I saw there today were loving it along with their relaxed looking parents. The staff were super friendly and stayed busy between supervising and playing with kids and wiping down and disinfecting the equipment. All the toys and play stuff seemed brand new and clean too and the whole place just has good vibes. Go check it out :)

Reputable Kitchen Remodeling
Looking for a reputable kitchen remodeling company that is reasonably priced and provides a quick tear-out and reinstall. Is that too much to ask? We live in a small property on mud island and have been putting off a kitchen cabinet remodel project because of costs and dreading the idea of being without a kitchen for an extended period. Hoping I can locate a good source for this project locally. Thanks!

Podcast This American Life features Memphis
This American Life is one of my favorite podcasts and I was excited to hear that the first story in this week’s episode features Silky O’Sullivan’s. It a fun (true) story - I wonder if the server still lives here.

Pb and j towing
Now, I already know p b and j are as bad as it gets. Soooo my car was destroyed by the storm last weekend. A tree fell onto my parked car at my apartment complex, The Residence at Lakeview. The apartment is denying any responsibility, I only had liability on it so not a cent from insurance. My only choice was to sell it for junk. I only had that car for a month. I had called several tow companies who were just busy or didn't want to pick it up because of a lost title.
I FINALLY get a company (pebble) to agree and schedule a pick up. Of course they were running late, so I had to cancel for work. My apartment took it upon themselves to call p b and j towing which happens to be partnered with pebble. So that company had agreed to pay me $220 for the car, but took it for free while I was at work. Now, I really dont want to bring a lawyer into this, but I believe I'm owed something from someone. Has anyone threatened to sue p b and j and did it work? Should I threaten to sue the apartment? Im not asking for handouts, but this really puts me in a tight situation and late on rent.

Photos Happy 901 Day!
These photos are a few of my absolute favorites from the past year. Consider them my tribute to Memphis: the iconic landmarks, the grit, the beauty, and most importantly, the people who make this city move.
