Sometimes a well cut blazer and a good pair of trousers is all you need

So I absolutely love burgundy/oxblood leather. I have a few pairs of shoes and belts in it. I have worn them with suits and some more casual outfits. I am looking for more advice on how to style them. What do they go with, what don’t they go with, can the shoes I have be dressed down a bit(probably not the cap toes), etc. i threw together some outfits and Im curious how I did.

Long story short, my wife and I attend a number of big events / galas every year. 9 out of 10 times it is usually to support a friend or client's charity they are involved in. Very rarely are they black tie affairs where I actually have to put on a tux, but almost every time my wife wears some type of formal dress where I also don't want to be dressed down. Are French cuffs and cufflinks out of style? I am 42 and not trying to look younger, but I am also not trying to dress like a retiree.

I’m trying to improve the way I dress and make my outfits feel more put together and intentional.

I've only started putting effort in the last few months, and I feel like I'm still doing costumes sometimes. Would anyone be able to help me out please (also no shoes because carpeted room) :)

Material look and feel is incredible, but the fit and measurements are random. I got 3 jeans all the same size, and all if them have vastly different waist and inseam measurements. The turnaround estimates are 2 months behind when you'll actually get them. I ordered jeans in late march/early April, and got them last week when they were said to arrive june/July.

The customer service sucks, they do not take any responsibility or try to make things right. They said the reason why all the measurements were different, was because of the material choices. How does material affect the measurements of raw, unwashed denim? They lack consistency and QC. There are no refunds. What's the point of store credit when you have to wait 5 months for a pair of jeans that might not even fit?

Stay away. I could've had a custom pair of jeans made from a local high end bespoke clothier near me, for similar pricing.

Found this Allsaints bergen leather jacket. Never had a leather jacket so I'm undecided should I go for it, especially since it has some flaws. It's secondhand

I’m looking to keep my style fresh, modern, and well-proportioned without feeling like I'm trying too hard or dressing out of my lane.

Testing out a mix of clean smart-casual layers, oversized crews, flannels, and cargos.

This discussion will not include any mention of synthetic fabrics.

As far as I understand cotton is a non-optimal to dangerous choice for:
Base and mid layering for winter, because of the poor wicking and insulation capabilities

-and-

Humid warm-hot weather as the retention of sweat in that environment makes it clammy and uncomfortable.

However, compared to wool, linen, hemp, cashmere and silk; cotton is better for daily wear abrasive work. So canvas, denim, corduroy are excellent for physical work where bending and abrasion are persistent.

And so in that case having cotton as trousers can be a great use case.
Cotton is also much better suited for dry hot weather than humid hot weather; but how does that compare to linen? Is linen cotton blend a better choice and how would you determine the ratio?

For winter time the main layers would be any type of wool, maybe even heavier linen for fall and spring.
Would the outer layer then best be cotton for abrasive work? Even if that layer gets cold, does that compromise the base layers? And wool, even heavy, based off my knowledge, is not ideal for work wear because they are not good against abrasion; however still, cotton trousers in the winter seems to be less than ideal because of their lack of wicking ability. Perhaps the wool could be a blend of linen, or leather can be patched where abrasion is expected.

I live in Maryland which has hot and humid summers, and moderate to cold winters with some dry days.

I find cotton to be a poor choice in almost any circumstance unless I need sturdy work pants; of which, cotton provides at greater quantity and quality than linen. But I almost never would prefer to wear any upper body layer in cotton.

In the dry hot western states I’d say cotton would be better but still as a top layer would linen beat it? Or perhaps a blend, but never pure cotton.

Fall and spring, depending upon humidity and activity expectations, could provide an excellent welcome to cotton as trousers. however, as a top layer i fear there is still not much of a use case especially for the issue of odor.
a good use case could be waxed cotton in rain as a coat or hat.

it seems cotton is great for durability but horrible for thermoregulation in winter and odor, which is why it is so problematic to find uses for them outside of trousers, rain coats and the sort. They could perhaps beat linen for upper body use if you are in a certain dry and hot environment, but in desert location does it not get very cold at night which makes it harder for cotton to be practical?

So what is your opinion about the placement of cotton in a wardrobe especially if you like older styles and practical needs? And are there any assumption on my part you would like to correct?

No matter what I still can’t get over the baggy look. Is there any trick I’m missing or is this it basically?

I recently lost a ton of weight and ready to celebrate with a brand new collection of clothing.

I usually like to dress smart casual, dress pants and blazers, suits for work, most of my stuff is from my lifelong local tailor plus Ralph Lauren and Hackett, shoes and watches are where it’s at for me historically so I am up to the hilt in Berluti and Patek, but really need to pay attention to my clothing
