Ruined by Technology Somebody posted an AI version of my art...
Less than 10 hours ago I posted a piece of fan art I'd made, and have just came across it on Facebook - where someone had put an AI filter over it 😑

Okay, but I am curious how you found this Facebook post. Did it literally just appear on your feed coincidentally? Are you in a Hitman Facebook group? Can we get the link?
217
u/Complex_Meeting9053 6h ago
Yeah, I'm in the Hitman group on Facebook, which is where he posted it. I posted it on Reddit before going to bed. When I woke up, I opened Facebook and it was the 3rd or 4th post on my feed.
I posted the link earlier ( https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1GZ5xq8bgz/ ) but he's either deleted the post, or Admin deleted it for using AI/breaking rules.
Numerous comments on this post said they saw the facebook post.

u/mr-english 3h ago
How did he find THIS thread so soon after you posted it?
The top comment references his Reddit username just 26 minutes after you posted this thread, so he must have commented here before then.

I agree, it really does sound like that guy thinks OP just invented the whole thing. Meanwhile, the original artwork was literally posted less than 10 hours earlier.

You know they're awful, if you need to be reminded of their existence even though you've watched them both.

One of them (the second one I think?) was considerably better than the first.
Still not, you know, good, but a notable improvement.
If we continue at that rate, in about six movies we'll have something worth watching more than once.

I was sad about that era of videogame movies. They burned through a lot of franchises that would be good if the correct director was involved. Max Payne, Doom, ect. All fucking terrible.
99
u/Pikka_Bird 11h ago
Max Payne really was the worst blunder though, because there was already two solid scripts in those two games or you trim off the game mechanics and pace it properly.
83
u/UnsureAndWondering 11h ago
But why would we make an intelligent movie about an interesting character when we could have Mark "I hate Vietnamese men" Wahlberg go pew pew pew like an awesome hero?
41
u/Pikka_Bird 10h ago
Ah yes, the casting was ass too.

In the case of Hitman, Xavier Gens was a fan of Hitman and tried to do it justice, only for the film to be massacred in the edit by producer decision. He was not just locked out of the editing room but pretty much kicked out of the entire project. He also arrived on the project with an already written script that was just something else with Hitman's name slapped on top.
Max Payne's failure is entirely on the director though. He self-censored to reach a PG-13 rating and then cut frames from sequences to censor it further. He had final cut on this piece of shit.
13
u/Remarkable_Break_569 12h ago

I liked the original game when it came out, and I'd always been an Olyphant fan. So the 2007 movie was a real disappointment.
It really strayed too far from the actual game, particularly it's tone.
And Olyphant clearly wasn't in his element. Which makes sense given his comments about only taking the role to pay his mortgage after Deadwood got canceled. It's even kind of funny when you take into account he said basically the same thing about his role in Live Free or Die Hard, yet seems a lot harsher in talking about Hitman lol.

Part of the problem with the films was probably because they were following more of Absolution than core Hitman.
Then they rehired the same person that
directedwrote the first film todirectwrite the second which was just essentially a repeat of the first...Also they had 47, an asexual king, betray the ICA over a random woman in both of them, mixed with the fact that he wasn't fully bald in the movies.
106
u/shpongleyes 13h ago
I've long held the belief that any movie/TV series based on Hitman can only be successful if 47 ISN'T the main character. By design, he's an incredibly boring main character; he was literally created in a lab to be a perfect soldier and emotionless. There's no room for any character arc.
I think Diana would make for a much better protagonist.
80
u/FakoSizlo 12h ago
I think taking a anthology series approach would work the best. Make each episode a mission at some exotic local but focus on the targets and other people involved at the location. Then you can slowly reveal how the assassinations come together as a sort of mix between a horror movie and heist movie. 47 should generally be in the backgrounds until the moment where you see him in the disguise or the reveal on why like say an "accident" happened
29
u/captain_hairy 12h ago
This is effectively the premise of the anime (and manga, really, but the anime is probably more digestible) Golgo 13. 50 episodes of howdunnit assassination, more or less.
→ More replies (4)8
10
u/OrangeCatBread 12h ago
Check out Golgo 13, it's basically a very old japanese hitman/james bond character. There is no question about him succeding at his mission, he's practically a force of nature in the various shows he appears in, so episodes that focus on how people around him react to his presence are often far more interesting than the one where he is the focus himself.
For example the first episode in one anime run is about a rare occurrence of the police actually arresting him after a hit, and how they eventually have to let him go because they could never convince a jury that there could exist someone capable of making the shot he took.

They have different directors, but the same writer.

These people are talentless. They know deep down they can never make anything decent, so when they got their hand on a tool that do stuff for them, they cope so hard that they truly believe what they did are skills, and they are on par with the artists

u/Hoshyro 9h ago
The vast majority of people bragging about stuff they asked ai to generate will show you the most lame, over the top, exaggerated, tasteless thing you've ever seen and then call you names for disliking it.
Not only do they refuse to actually try to nurture any kind of talent, their sense of "good" is just adding more and more and more until it becomes a parody of itself.
More lighting, more details, more explosions, more exaggerated expressions, more cheesy scenes and dialogues!
The worst ones are the ones generating "films" that all look like Michael Bay productions but with even less logical sense and an utter lack of any taste.
More does not equal better; an artist will craft an awe inspiring piece even with a single colour, an ai lunatic will ad 593 different elements to their "work" and still fail to create something unique or interesting.
→ More replies (3)54
u/Few-Improvement-5655 13h ago
I always try to avoid saying they are talentless, but talent is inherent, and that's the argument some of them use to justify using AI "Oh, I don't have the talent for art, so this is the great equaliser."
No, it's worse than that, they are lazy. They could learn, they just don't want to, and they blame their lack of enthusiasm for putting effort in on not having an innate talent for it.
They want results, and the attention and adulation that those results bring, but with zero effort.
23
u/SlimePerspective 13h ago
wdym talent is inherent...
Art is like... so easy to pick up. You only need effort, effort, effort. Drawabox and Lineofaction can get you so far, with a pencil too.

u/Hoshyro 9h ago
While I do believe some people are naturally more talented than others in their favourite/more successful interests, everyone can grow and nurture their talents to pretty high levels with enough passion.
I couldn't even draw a leaf and while I wouldn't call myself an artist, so far I've got to a decent ish place.
Sure, I can only draw images and still struggle a lot with certain angles and elements, but I'll take my most embarrassing botched drawing over the alleged best ai generation; at least I tried and put effort in it.

I "argued" yesterday with a Pro-Gem-AI moron. I basically said that if you ask someone or something else to do X, you are not the artist.
He replied by saying "and an artist cannot call himself that because he created his digital art by clicking on the screen of a graphic tablet". Basically destroying the same concept of art, since from the dawn of time humans made art through tools, ignoring completely the EFFORT that you put into work.
I simply replied "I got intoxicated by the amount of bullshit in this comment", because talking to a brainless moron is a waste of my time

I have been known to purchase a gourmet meal and run it through my digestive system (I'm entitled to do that because I paid for the meal - it’s totally fair use even if it’s not explicitly mentioned in the TOS), but I have never posted the results on social media, or really shared them with anyone although I sincerely think the result is pretty similar to anything "run through an AI".

It's funny watching these ai people claim to be artists. It's like if someone went to McDonald's, ordered a Big Mac without any sauce or cheese, then demand to be called a Michelin star chef for the flaccid, plain burger they have in their hand.
→ More replies (3)50

It's also funny when they claim that making AI stuff takes "effort", it's just typing a prompt. Like, sure, you can put a lot of thought into a prompt, but making real art instead of slop takes way more effort that just typing. It's not real effort, just excuses to be lazy.
Or when they use disabled people as excuse. I'm not neurotypical yet also make stuff, a lot of disabled people (with worse disabilities) can make art too. Beethoven composed many of his greatest works while he was partially or completely deaf, if you are passionate enough you can still make art. AI cannot do that, it steals, yet the AI bros don't want to understand that.
→ More replies (1)20
u/NewtonTheNoot 5h ago
The ones who claim it takes a "lot of effort" are really just self-reporting how dumb they are. It should not take "a lot of effort" to type in a few words.
The YouTube videos I've made took me HOURS to make, and they're only a few minutes long at most. They still look amateur at best because, well, I AM an amateur, but I'd rather they look that way and be proud to call them my actual work than to have some AI slop.

It's depressing that people think it's ok to run someone else's work through an AI. Like... it's not yours.
And sure there's no regulation or anything but even AI generating sites warn that you'd need to have the rights to the reference artwork you're using...
18
u/Rhodri_Suojelija 8h ago

This sucks but your art isn't safe online anymore, because of people like this and generative AI data scraping.
Way back when, I posted on Elfwood (think ancient Deviant Art I guess), but I wouldn't share anything I made now. I've taken down my landscape photography site because a) it'll get scraped to produce b) prints based off my work that people will buy instead of my actual work.
It isn't OPs fault and AI kid sucks, but the result of this behaviour is only AI slop will be left online as everyone else has to withdraw.

On a more positive note, that art does look brilliant. I love the inclusion of all the targets from the first game, and even including Jasper Knight and Kalvin Ritter from the tutorial.
Also, I just noticed this while writing, but the AI version doesn’t have (who I think is) The Constant. He’s just not behind Ezra Berg

I just saw the original on the hitman sub and thought it was very cool. The fact that people will just take people’s art and run it through a slop program is insane. Disgusting people walk among us

The saddest part is that he things he’s right but is wrong. You will never get better by defending your actions and denying that you are the problem. Like seriously.

Good morning, 47. Your target is The Sloppifier, an infamous self proclaimed "AI Artist". The Sloppifier has put our client's artwork into an AI image generator, creating a soulless replica. You need to locate The Sloppifier and stop him from turning any more art into AI slop. Good hunting, 47.

I hope we soon have serious legal restrictions on AI and doing shit like this just becomes illegal. Your art is just in the machine forever now and this piece of shit gave no thought to that whatsoever.

My guy this is not Mildly infuriating. You can crash out and commit manslaughter and I will take the fall for you

All that heart and soul yanked out by AI... That's not even mildly infuriating at all, that's just extremely infuriating as an artist!

This is a lot more than "mildly" infuriating with the way this man is acting...

I don’t post my art online anymore. It will be used to train AI, so I’m not playing along.

Hey I hope the ai slave sees how much normal people hates what they do and that they get an actual hobby that doesn’t make them stupid

They actually made it ugly. The art looks classic and beautiful. The AI slop one with humans looks crowded, like a badly designed poster

That lllliiiilllliillli psychopath made 10 different accounts to harass OP, lie about their artwork, agree with themselves, and spam reports and mod mail trying to get OP banned. I absolutely guarantee they are the AI Facebook kid. Be sure to report them and their many accounts for Ban Evasion. Hopefully the admins will platform ban all their accounts and we'll be plagued with 1 less slimeball.
ETA: Up to 12 accounts now. Still making more and spamming replies to this comment & more mod mail. Moron doesn't realize these new account spams are getting auto-blocked by Reddit's Crowd Control system 🤦
ETA: Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you... drumroll ... Account #14!!!
