I genuinely had to come here because I am FURIOUS.

And before anyone says “you can’t force someone to leave an abusive situation…” I KNOW. I understand that. I understand why victims minimize things, defend their abuser, say they’re fine, withdraw from people, etc. I’ve personally been close enough to a similar situation to understand how complicated it actually is from the inside.

BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN EVERYONE AROUND THEM HAS TO SIT ON THEIR HANDS.

That’s the part that drove me insane watching this.

At some point, when you’re watching someone deteriorate, become isolated, clearly not act like themselves, and there are enough red flags screaming in your face, “she says she’s fine” cannot be the end of the conversation.

I understand respecting someone’s autonomy. I understand that an adult is ultimately allowed to make their own decisions. But there is a MASSIVE difference between respecting someone’s choices and abandoning them to those choices when you have reason to believe they’re being manipulated or harmed.

I’m Indian/Asian and maybe this is partly a cultural difference, but my immediate reaction would have been:

“Nope. You’re coming with me. You can be angry at me later.”

😭

Call me intrusive. Call me dramatic. Whatever. If someone I loved was in that situation, I would rather have them furious with me for interfering than attend their funeral knowing I spent months telling myself “it’s their business.”

And THAT is what made me so angry watching this. There seemed to be so much of this passive “well, she’s an adult / it’s her marriage / she says she’s okay” attitude when sometimes loving someone means being persistent as FUCK.

Obviously, hindsight is 20/20 and there are things we as viewers know that people around her may not have known at the time. I’m not pretending intervention is simple or that families can magically rescue someone from an abusive relationship.

But goddamn. I just kept thinking: SOMEONE PLEASE FUCKING SHOW UP FOR THIS WOMAN.

Maybe I’m projecting because of my own experiences, but watching everyone essentially watch her suffer while maintaining this distance made me absolutely livid.

Am I insane for feeling this way?? 😭

I just started this Netflix Documentary (I believe it was just released today) and I really want to hear what others think. I am finding her arrogant and still unapologetic. I am highly annoyed that she stole an opportunity from someone else and then made a mockery by her routine. If she felt she couldn't have won (which is what she said), she should have stepped aside, or still competed with an expected routine and gracefully accepted wherever she may have placed. She may have surprised herself. Olympic Athletes take the Olympics very seriously, not go into their competitions with the mindset they're going to lose so its ok to just do something crazy.

I can’t stop thinking about this documentary.
I’m left with SO many questions:

1.) Has anyone heard anything from his first wife? Has Ali spoken out at all about the way she was treated? I have to assume she was also a victim of his depravity. Did he also stalk and harass Ali as well while they were divorcing?

2.) I am horrified that he has 5 children.
In the documentary it made perfect sense when they talked about his father, and his depraved behaviour as well. They mentioned that JP was one of his victims. JP is carrying on that abuse cycle and I pray he is not allowed around his children. He has no morals or conscience at all. I pray for his kids. I do respect they left his children out of the documentary.

3.) There seems to be so much more that was left out. They glazed over the fact he would pay homeless men to do unspeakable things to her…. What!?!? His friend Mark was going to be picking up a girl from the airport for JP? What!? They glazed over that storyline. Where were these girls coming from?

4.) How are people in the church still attending and 1- letting him behind that pulpit. 2- sitting in that church and listening to him?!! Once Mica shared with her friends what was going on, WHY did they not let others in the church know what was happening. That congregation should have been like an angry mob going after him. When the one lady went to the elders- they all did nothing!? What? Why did she not get louder and make others aware? Who were the elders ?

However I feel like I attended several churches with narcissistic pastors and there is such a heavy pressure to not “gossip” or “slander” the pastor. “Trust the pastor and know he is broken person as well with immense pressures as the pastor- don’t speak negatively about them ever”.

5.) JP and Suzie together now - both of the ex’s are dead - but both were alive when the affair started . I just have no words. I hope there was a proper investigation into the husbands drowning. And again WHO is attending that church!?

I don’t believe a single person who claims they understood what was going on in season 3 of Dark.

At this point, I don’t know what year it is, what universe I’m in, or wth is going on. I’m lost. I’m exhausted. And I’m ready for this absolute time-traveling madness to END 🤣

Hi! I honestly feel like the One Hundred Years of Solitude series is underrated. I feel like I barely see anyone talking about it, even if reviews are good.
As someone who loves the book, I always thought adapting it - even remotely - well would be an impossible challenge, so I was actually pretty hesitant to watch it, but I ended up being really impressed. I’m curious to hear what others thought!

I found a link to the Restraining order document JPs first wife Allison filed on the day she heard Mica had died. Very interesting read! There may well be additional charges coming soon for JP.

Review of Missing: Dead or Alive
This is an interesting series because, unlike many other shows, the cases actually have outcomes. Some endings are positive and bring relief, while unfortunately, others are heartbreaking. The series also gives you a real sense of how stressful and emotionally demanding the job is for the investigators. It’s fascinating to see the dedication and determination they put into finding missing people and bringing answers to their families.

I’m genuinely so sick of watching shows on Netflix that are already cancelled.

what’s the point of having these shows that end on cliffhangers, genuinely what is the point.

The only thing in watching moving forward thats on Netflix is limited series.

I am really pleased by the many excellent films and series from international sources, watching with subtitles is fine but given how well voice actors can do animated films these days why are the dubbed voices so poor (at least into English). There tends to be a lot of earnest enthusiasm and little else.

This was about the twin brothers from the UK. The one twin was in an accident and lost his entire memory from birth until he was 18. The other twin kept their shared childhood memories from him. I personally think that was a gift of love from the twin who remembered everything, he was sparing his brother the anguish of what they both went through. However the twin with the memory loss was angry at his brother for lying to him for years. Anyone have thoughts?

Does anyone ever wonder where Michael Jackson’s 3 kids were throughout this entire thing and the trial? Also, where were his kids when he had these families and other children living with them, sleeping in his room, etc? I also wonder how Michael Jackson was a parent to his own kids, when he was seemingly acting like a kid himself. Seems super contradictory.

Michael seemed like a pretty involved parent, and I’m always confused about how he would have been able to split his time.

Also, have his kids ever addressed any of this as adults?

I want to so badly believe MJ is innocent, and that he’s a really good person but just emotionally stunted from his own upbringing…but some of these pieces of evidence are hard to ignore…

I started watching *Dark* a few days ago, after it had been recommended to me loads of times… I’m on the second episode now, but it hasn’t really grabbed me yet… I don’t know if I’m wasting my time or if I should carry on watching it because the best is yet to come! No spoilers, please! But should I carry on? Or should I just watch another series?

Anybody know if the older lady's phone "seeming like it was sync'd" (paraphrasing) with JP's was ever looked into? She said she received a bunch of texts between JP and his bff Marc "as though our phones were syncd". Which gave her info she otherwise wouldn't have known.

They never explained how that happened, or I missed it or misunderstood what she meant...?

And the show is extremely intelligent too. The way they do crime, they way they do legal sabotage, personal manipulation etc

Usually shows just focus on one niche thing, but Beauty in Black focuses on everything

It's also highly relatable

So how does one find more shows like this?

Where all aspects of a character's life are intertwined and all aspects of society are intertwined. This show does not lack in any area. It's fully developed in all aspects

Hey ya'll went to watch something on Netflix today while I work like any other day only to find the app entirely broken today. It has this incredibly annoying skipping glitch that doesn't go away. I have tried force closing it, reinstalling the app and restarting my phone nothing works

Gosh Harry is a textbook narcissist. He screwed over all of those women, lied, slept around and then discarded anyone who didn’t agree with him. That show was sickening. Anyone else have thoughts?

How sick / dumb is Suzie Skinner? I mean Mica was young and got caught up in her marriage before she really saw how evil this JP guy was. But Suzie has seen everything that has gone on with this guy - all his previous cheating and manipulating, and even her own husband’s suicide, and Mica’s suicide - how do you rationalize all that and marry this guy? And to top it off they still hold church services? How does she look at herself in the mirror? It just baffles me

I’m pissed. For years we’ve paid for our home account (3 devices) and Dad’s sub account (he lives out of the area).

Yesterday his NF account stopped working. Somehow it got deleted per Customer Service. So I added it back to our account.

That’s when I noticed that NF has decreased the number of devices from 3 to 2–and Dad’s sub account costs more! So costs have increased but we get less service.

Shrinkflation, anyone?
