Fanny's, so fancy!
Fanny's is going to be someone's home. I feel like the only way to cleanse that joint would be with fire

Hello friends, this post is intended for school teachers or anyone employed in the education sector within this region.
My partner is currently seeking teaching positions in this area, and we were quite surprised to discover that there are only about 5-6 opportunities for Senior Secondary teachers specializing in mathematics and science, especially when compared to the hundreds of positions available in Sydney. We were also surprised to learn that most Catholic schools in Newcastle reportedly do not hire teachers who are not Catholic, despite her currently teaching in a Catholic school in Sydney where this is not an issue.
Therefore, we are wondering if the limited opportunities are due to a smaller number of schools, or if it is because individuals in the school industry are not frequently changing or leaving their positions.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could suggest any job opportunities at the schools where you are employed.
Thank you in advance...

We need a new name also,
To honour the Penis tower and Brian Suiters who designed it (great man, knew him well)
In their honour we need drawings of a massive new manhood on nobbies beach! Maybe between the pasha bulka monument and the take away shop,
We could add some 🥜🍆🥜to make it truely memorable, and WIN next years Australian shit big things!
Imagine the glory(hole)
And the winner of the 2030 BIGGEST SHITTEST THING EVER IS NEWY!
I am crying 😭 just thinking how proud i would be in a new legacy,
Time to start a go fund me

Has anyone used this service? I’m looking to unload a car not quite fit for normal sale.

It's crazy that a group of 5 teenage trail bike riders can ride around the CBD of Newcastle, weaving in and out traffic, not following rules and not one police car to be seen.

EDIT: I forgot to mention how I noticed the grammar in the review was quite bad so I thought it might be written in a fit of anger (maybe a build up of bad experiences?) 😭 or possibly just not reliable at all.
Hi! As the title suggests I’m thinking of studying speech pathology at UoN and saw some glowing recommendations on reddit.
However, I also saw this review online and was wondering if anyone would agree with it? I’m a bit weary after seeing it as I would be moving away from home for the uni.

We are always seeking the best of things, best food, best hairdresser, best shit haircut, best Chinese, best tree.
I wanna hear. What are the most average things in newcastle. Things that you definitely would not write home about

A few days ago I left a new shaving stone and some sushi on the roof of my car when leaving kotara and it fell off, this was sad, and I didn’t think about it again.
UNBELIEVABLY
I parked on Alfred street today, and when returning to my car, there was a new one, of the same brand, obviously undamaged by falling off a car SITTING ON MY BONNET
My only theory is that someone saw this fall off of my car a few days ago, and has somehow recognised my car or number plate and bought me a new one and left it there for me to find. so to whoever did this, you are kindness incarnate and I truly hope your pillow is never warm ever again.
You may have thought It was just a kind and decent gesture, but I had the most terrible weekend! I relapsed from a year and a half of sobriety. And am in the process of rebuilding my self confidence, relationship and friendships after a truly terrible night.
What could have been a through and through shit day of anxiety, shame and insecurity has turned positive after I found that on my car. I immediately called my friends and partner to tell them what happened and just having those funny conversations with them made me feel a lot better, and has put me in a better mind set to refocus on sobriety.
Moral of the story is that we never know what someone is going through and even the smallest acts of kindness can be enough to put a smile on someone’s face during a hard time.
If it was you that did this, don’t feel like you need to reply or reach out, but I will pay it forward to someone else as soon as I can :)
To everyone else, leave a shaving stone on someone’s car tomorrow (you get the metaphor)

Not a stunp removal or a pull down, just trimming some trees around power lines.
Chipper appreciated, but not essential.

I never thought this would be me but here goes...
I am looking for help to find a young lady that was at Bennetts Green Bunnings today, Monday 31st August at around 3-3:20... She has a tattoo of a martini on the inside of her right ankle and drives a white dual cab ute.
I was one step away from asking for your number but my niece that was with me picked up on this and started having a teen-tantrum and begged me not to embarrass her... I swear she thinks she's my own 😂 😂
Anyway, real long shot but I had to give it a crack. If you see this and you are taken please ignore, or if you're not interested (you know who I am) please also ignore...
Thanks everyone

Right, we've had a fortnight to recover from the last Tech-Repair Speed Dating... err... Repair Café, so we're doing it again this Friday. Despite the benches complaints, and being a little worse for wear, we've given them the obligatory wipe down with 99.9% Isopropyl Alcohol, and they're tipsy enough to go again.
Context for anyone new: I do board-level/real actual _repair_ work (not just replacing whole motherboards etc) out of a computer workshop on Maitland Road in Mayfield, alongside IC Solutions, who've been fixing PCs in Mayfield for over 20 years. Giving something back to the town has always been part of how we both operate.
Every second Friday night at the workshop we host a repair café, organised by the crew at The Full Circle Collective. This is number two of three. If you came to the first one, chances are you had a ball, learnt some stuff, and actually got something fixed.
The idea is for those in the community who genuinely need a hand up, fixing something that you just can't afford to replace or have fixed through usual channels, we'll help you out. That said, all are welcome, the entire "Newcastle Tech Cartel" are donating their time, space, consumables, to help out those in our community.
Highlight of last session: a proper spicy pillow. Swollen lithium battery, puffed up like it had ideas. So I surgically pierced the foil where it was bulging and let everyone have a good sniff of what "this battery is about to have a very bad day" actually smells like. Sweet, sharp, chemical, unmistakable once you've copped it. Nobody who was in the room that night will ever miss it again, which was the whole point. Do not do this at home; that is what I am here for.
Bring down small electronics, gadgets and tech that's a bit worse for wear. Laptops, PCs, consoles, amps, small gadgets; that sort of thing. Still no TVs, and still no lamps. That last one is not a joke, we get asked every single time.
If it's a straightforward fix, we'll have a crack at it on the spot. If it isn't, we'll work out the best advice for what to do with it next; sometimes that's a part to order, sometimes it's "this one's had it, and here's how to get rid of it properly".
Labour is completely free. You only pay cost price for any parts we actually need (or you can absolutely bring your own!). Donations are absolutely welcomed and appreciated - essentially they will go toward the consumables we roll through, so will take a touch of the financial burden off us to keep these happening.
The Newcastle Tech Cartel will be providing the expertise, tech knowledge and bad jokes. Very loosely, that's Dan and Nick from IC Solutions, Connor and Zac from WASD Computers, Banks and I from Remaker Space, and we may even have Mateo come down to help of JMS Tech fame. It's gonna be a good time.
The Unwearables Project will be back too, collecting any and all (CLEAN!) synthetic textiles. I still don't really know what that means. Plenty of you clearly do, because you turned up with bags of it. Apparently they need a literal tonne of the stuff, to do magical synthetic things with it. 🤷♂️
Friday 4 September, 5pm to 7.30pm
150 Maitland Road, Mayfield; across from Coles. Can't miss us.
RSVP (helps us work out how much bench space to clear): https://events.humanitix.com/pop-up-tech-repair-cafe-itar
Same catch as last time: you have to listen to our tunes without complaining. Feedback regarding the terrible choice of music from the last session has been carefully collected, considered, and thrown in the e-waste bin :D
Hit us with any questions, or tell us what you're bringing, below ⬇️

Not a new subject here but I just felt like having a little rant. Also pertains more to Maitland but that subreddit gets less traffic than the road in question.
Drove along McFarlanes Rd today after a few months. Sooo much new development, which is shit in itself. But my main gripe is… how the fuck was all this development approved when they can’t even keep the road from being mostly potholes? I hope y’all know the spot I’m talking. Unfortunately satellite view doesn’t reflect what I’m talking about, but there’s a section that for as long as I can remember has always been potholes. Most of the road has been redone except this one spot (or it has been fixed and is just absolutely fucked again).
Why doesn’t Maitland council do a more permanent fix? I thought it was Dungog that was shit at building roads
Don’t take this post too seriously, sometimes it’s just entertaining to be a Karen and start a conversation

Evening all - figured with the weather warming that it was time to get the birks out. They need to have their soles repaired and I'm wondering if anyone had any recommendations on where to get them done and any recent pricing. I'd prefer to get them repaired rather than buy new again.

Me and my mates are planing to do a 1-2 week free camp hike in New Zealand next year but want to make sure that we know what we are signing up for. Does anyone know of any good multi day hikes that are 1-3 hours from newcastle?

Annoying drone buzzing around near the Ori, sounded like it was going pretty low over residential buildings. Don’t know why they had it up there but it’s illegal to fly them at night and I can imagine it’s possible to get up to some nefarious stuff with them.

I love dogs, but my neighbor is neglecting his two pit bulls. They live in a narrow passage between our houses, never get walked, and are left alone all week.
The dogs are clearly distressed and bark constantly. I’ve spoken to the owner, but nothing has changed. The other neighbors are also fed up.
Has anyone had any success getting the local Council to take action in a situation like this? What did it take?

Good evening and welcome to the Newcastle and Hunter Sports Scoreboard. We're starting things a bit differently because we're going to begin with the Australian Ice Hockey League Goodall Cup Grand Final. The Newcastle Northstars ten year drought between Goodall Cup wins is over after the Northstars defeated the Canberra Braves 2-1 at the OBrien Icehouse in Melbourne.
Goals to Liam Ryan and Evgeni Skachkov secured the Northstars win. The Brave fought back through a goal to Jake Ratcliffe but it wasn't enough. Congratulations to the Newcastle Northstars, 2026 Goodall Cup Champions.
NRL
The Newcastle Knights will look to rest and reset ahead of a elimination final this week after they finished their regular season with a 46-32 loss to the New Zealand Warriors. The Knights got out to a superb start with tries to Fletcher Hunt and Francis Manuleleua however the afternoon went haywire when prop Jacob Saifiti was sent off by referee Adam Gee for a shoulder charge on Luke Laulilii. The Knights and Saifiti will nervously await the ruling from the Match Review Committee tomorrow morning.
From there the Knights were brave but they were always going to struggle down 12 men. The Knights tries come from doubles to Hunt and Greg Marzhew, Francis Manuleleua and Jermaine McEwen.
There's also bad news on the injury front for the Knights with Manuleleua taken from the field with a suspected serious elbow injury.
NRLW
Charley Lahmert has recieved a warning after she was charged with a grade 1 dangerous contact offense after the Knights 40-6 win over the Cowboys yesterday. The Knights are now in the top six after round 10 following the Warriors loss to the Dragons today.
Northern NSW NPL
Promotion Playoff
Newcastle Croatia will take on Kahibah in the Promotion final next week.
Wallsend 2 Newcastle Croatia 3
Minor Semi Final
Maitland into the preliminary final.
Maitland 2 Edgeworth Eagles 1
Black Diamond AFL
The Entrance Bateau Bay Blues 10.12.72 defeated Cardiff Hawks 9.13.67
Newcastle City finished the regular season undefeated and eight points ahead of the second placed Terrigal Avoca Panthers.
Next week is the Elimination Finals
(3) Killarney Vale Bombers v (6) Cardiff Hawks
(4) Nelson Bay Marlins v (5) Warners Bay Bulldogs.
That completes this edition of the Newcastle & Hunter Sports Scoreboard for this Sunday. Hope everyone has a good week and I'll see ya all on Newcastle rugby league and rugby union grand final weekend.
