Is it a joke? Thousands of mostly men who have been stuck at sea are going to be binge drinking. Genuine question: I don't know that statistical likelihood, but it sure seems like an environment where some shit will happen.

I get why people are making light of it from the standpoint of doing so being a normal human response to absurd things beyond our control. On the other hand, people are being really callous. This is embarrassing for our country no matter how normalized through jokes.

It kinda reminds me of how people joke about alcoholism in Wisconsin. It's a problem. It's embarrassing. It's nothing to brag about, really.
