Absolutely. After Bangkok we went home with them to Ubon where they and my other Cousins lived, and got to visit with all our Thai family we had not met before, and see their farm.

My cousin really wanted to send us home with rice from her farm, but sadly US customs wouldn't have appreciated that, so I had to decline.

I'm pretty sure dried foods are okay. I took home beef jerky and dried squid without issue.

Not enough chemicals and GMO’s.

I’d take Thai rice over US rice any day of the week. Actually I’d take food from the DRC before I take food from the US.

It's not about health, it's disease control. They don't want you bringing in any agricultural diseases that can be carried by produce.

You can import Thai rice, but it has to be done through proper agricultural inspections and licensing.

Also, don't kid yourself. The Thai have less protections than we do on food safety, and they are definitely using pesticides too. Additionally, GMOs are not unhealthy to consume, the chief issue is potential environmental risk, not health.
