Eh, it’s not really. I used to think the same thing til I met seasonal J1 workers from SEA who also work in popular expat areas. Apparently, there’s a surprising number of female retirees, influencers, remote workers, and truststafarians in these areas looking to date and have casual relations. The dating scene is pretty active and insular, only Westerners and wealthy Asians are allowed.

Only the super creepy redpilled guys and old misogynists are doing the whole thing “passport bro” thing. They definitely exist in the FIRE community but they’re the exception, not the norm.
