I’m hoping some of you who actually use Reddit successfully for discovery can tell me what I’m missing, because I feel like I’m stuck in a loop 😭
I really want to use Reddit more because I know it can be a great place to get discovered, but I’m having an incredibly hard time figuring out where I’m actually allowed to post.
It seems like every subreddit I find has a different reason I can’t participate yet. I don’t have enough karma, NSFW/OF profiles aren’t allowed, sellers aren’t allowed, I misunderstand something about the caption/title rules, verification is required, etc.
I’ve been trying to do this the “right” way by finding a relevant subreddit, carefully reading ALL of its rules, making a post specifically for that community, and then posting. But even after doing that, I’ve had posts removed, and a lot of the time I don’t even know what rule I broke or why it was removed. I’m getting nervous about experimenting because I obviously don’t want to get banned from communities or put my actual Reddit account at risk.
I've tried going the completely non-promotional route and participating normally just to build karma. I posted a random question to AskReddit hoping to get some comment karma/participation going, and even THAT was removed. 😂
Then I thought, okay, I’ll find a subreddit specifically meant for OnlyFans promotion but it looks like that subreddit was deleted/
So…am I missing something obvious about how creators are supposed to get started on Reddit?
For those of you who successfully use Reddit for discovery:
• What subreddits were you actually able to use when you were newer/had low karma?
• Are there creator-friendly subreddits that allow people with OF/NSFW profiles to participate, even if the post itself is completely SFW?
• How did you initially build enough karma to get into the communities you actually wanted to use?
• Is there a better way to find appropriate subreddits than searching, reading every single rule, trying a post, and hoping you interpreted everything correctly?
I’d also genuinely appreciate advice about discovery OUTSIDE of Reddit. I use other social platforms too, but I’m trying to be extremely careful because I know some platforms are not friendly toward adult creators or direct OF promotion. I don’t want to sacrifice an established social account just trying to get more eyes on my content.
Basically, I’m looking for any advice on safely getting discovered as an adult creator without constantly having posts removed, getting kicked out of communities, shadowbanned, or risking my accounts.
I’m absolutely willing to put in the work. I just feel like I’m spending wayyy more time figuring out where I’m allowed to exist than actually promoting. 😭 And when I think I followed all the rules, I still get removed.
Any advice, subreddit recommendations, strategies that worked when you were starting out, or things you wish you had known would be incredibly appreciated. ❤️
