email & snail mail 37/F/SouthAfrica

I’m a 37-year-old South African wife and mama who spends a suspicious amount of time thinking about food, plants, books, and whether I can successfully grow something from a random seed I found. 🌱😂

I’m a homebody at heart. Give me a cosy house, something delicious cooking in the kitchen, a good book, a garden project and a glass of Coke, and I’m pretty much sorted.

I love cooking and baking, reading, gardening, writing, and having those unexpectedly deep conversations that start with “So, random question…” and somehow end three hours later with us discussing life, childhood memories and whether people are inherently good. 😂

I’m also a little bit sentimental. I love handwritten letters, pretty stationery, little stories about ordinary days, photographs, recipes, funny mishaps and hearing about the tiny details that make someone’s life theirs. I think there’s something wonderfully old-fashioned about getting to know a stranger slowly, one letter at a time.

I’m married, have a little girl who keeps life entertaining, and our household also includes a very opinionated dog who I adore!

I’m happiest around people who are genuine, kind, curious and don’t take themselves too seriously. I’d love to hear about your life — your favourite things, your traditions, the place you call home, what you’re reading, what you’re cooking, what you’re dreaming about, and even the completely mundane stuff.

Basically, I’m looking for a stranger who might eventually become a friend.

Someone I can exchange stories with, laugh with, learn from, and occasionally send a ridiculously long letter to because apparently I had a lot to say. 😂

If you’re the kind of person who still gets excited when there’s a letter in the mailbox… I think we might get along. 💌

Since it’s South Africa and you might wait 366 days for a letter we can do email at first. Also happy to jump right in and do snail mail!

Hi I'm Eric, Last week I had to break out the stamps to send back an RSVP and I miss my mailbox. Flipping that little red flag brought me such joy, I figure it's time to get some Penpals.

Im currently going through a change in my life. After spending thirteen years as a career truck driver, I am taking on the role as stay at home husband. I am very fortunate to be in this position and I have given the time to explore my options. I am married to my highschool sweetheart, we are childfree, with two odd dogs and one sweet oldish cat.

I enjoy motorcycles, garage beers, and listening to my iPod. Thinking about picking up leatherwork, using my 35mm camara more often. Really I'm just taking on my new schedule and figuring it out.

Anyone welcome, Just send me a message and we can see where it goes.

I’m curious about the world and looking for connections to expand my perspective and inspire me to travel more. I’m based in Chicago, and I’m interested in spirituality, yoga, Jungian philosophy and dream work. I’m also interested in knowing what makes life meaningful in your part of the world, what worries you, and what gives you hope.

Me: Responsive, work from home, good communicator, can recommend an amazing book or film.

Other things I love: swamps, growing food, restoring an old house, spending time in the forest, cooking dinner for friends, staying up late talking, Tarkovsky, film noir, Criterion Collection, NYRB Classics, dark coffee, growing hot peppers, notebooks, pens, shooting black and white film, antiques.

Looking for penpal friends who have some free time and any care about one or more of the things above.

Happy to write about any of the above or a lot more~
