Hello, bago lang ako rito sa Manila kaya hindi ko pa alam ang mga pasikot-sikot. Laging 5am kasi ang alis ko kahit may 10am class ako. Ang alam ko lang daan ay ang mrt shaw at pa-Ayala Feliz. Sa mga taga greenwoods ano po ginagawa ninyo kapag may ganyan instances. Sana masagot thank you!

There is this UP Clark org that brands itself as an international leadership organization and has chapters in other major universities. My experience happened last year, and please, this is not an attack on the organization. I’m sharing this for awareness, and I genuinely hope future applicants don’t have to experience what I did.

Everything was okay naman at first. Everyone seemed fun, approachable, and welcoming. The application process itself was actually super fun. We got to meet people from the org and participate in different activities (or “internship,” as they called it), which would supposedly serve as the basis for recruitment.

And yes, I understand that this is one way organizations can evaluate applicants. Do your best, bring your “A” game, perform well in the activities and outputs, and hopefully you get in. Fair enough.

But everything changed during the deliberation process.

One of my friends, who was actually a leader in the organization at the time, told me that some applicants were being judged subjectively. Apparently, they were discussing applicants based on their “vibe” rather than their actual performance during the application process.

What really caught me off guard was hearing that one of the comments during deliberation was along the lines of: “Don’t get this person because this person is on this dating app.”

Come on. 😭

If the organization is presenting itself as a leadership organization, shouldn’t applicants be evaluated based on objective criteria such as their performance, attitude during activities, leadership potential, and the quality of their outputs?

I completely understand that organizations have to make difficult decisions during recruitment, and I’m not saying that everyone who applies should automatically get accepted. But using someone’s presence on a dating app, or something unrelated to their performance, as a reason to reject them feels incredibly inappropriate.

Again, this isn’t meant to attack the organization or the people in it. I know there are good people there, and I had positive experiences with some of them. I’m just sharing what I experienced/heard during the recruitment process because I hope future applicants are evaluated fairly and based on things that actually matter to their application.

A safe place I can go to before 7AM and/or until 9pm where I can stay and study while waiting out the rush hour.

As some of you have seen po siguro, magkakaroon po kasi ng tryouts ang UPSDC on September 14 (Monday).

I really want to tryout po and while I can go sa phase 1 ng auds, malabo po na makapunta ako sa phase 2 gawa ng PE class ko in the afternoon.

The tryouts only happen once every AY afaik so I don’t want to miss out on the opportunity, but at the same time, nakakakonsensiya rin po if hindi ako aattend sa PE class.

What should I do po? 🥺
