Adobe Official Important Notice: Upcoming System Requirement Changes in v27.0

As we prepare for the upcoming version 27.0 release of Premiere, After Effects, Media Encoder, and Audition, we want to share advance notice regarding hardware and OS compatibility changes across Windows and MacOS.

Windows OS Requirements

The minimum Windows OS requirement remains the same for 27.x: Windows 11, version 24H2 or later.

  • If you're on Windows 11 v23H2: Installation of v27.0 will be blocked. We recommend upgrading to Windows 11, version 24H2 or later.
  • If you're on Windows 10 (22H2, 21H2 LTSC): These OS versions are no longer officially supported by our video and audio products. We recommend upgrading to Windows 11, version 24H2 or later to ensure compatibility and security with current and future releases.
  • If you're on Windows 11 v24H2 or later: No action needed. You can update to v27.0 as normal.
  • If you're on Windows Server 2022: You can continue installing and using v27.0 on Windows Server 2022.

Starting with v28.0, install will be blocked on all Windows 10-based OS versions, including Windows 10 22H2, Windows 10 21H1 LTSC, and Windows Server 2022. We recommend beginning your migration to Windows Server 2025 now to ensure a smooth transition ahead of that change.

GPU Requirements for Windows

  • If your system has no GPU detected: Premiere and Media Encoder will not launch. You will need a GPU to launch v27.0.

Note that this change does not affect After Effects and Audition.

Future 27.x releases of Premiere and Media Encoder will also block launch if the only available GPU on system does not meet minimum requirements.

Macintosh Requirements

Starting with version 27.0, our video and audio applications on Mac will require macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later, on Apple silicon (M1 or newer).

  • If you're on an Intel based Mac: Intel based Macs will no longer be supported for v27.0 and future updates. You can keep installing and using version 26.x. To update to v27.0 when it releases, you'll need an Apple silicon Mac.
  • If you're on an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 14: You'll need to update to macOS 15 or later before updating to v27.0.
  • If you're on an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 15 or later: No action needed. You can update to v27.0.

These changes reflect where the Windows and Mac ecosystems are heading, along with the hardware acceleration our applications benefit from. Moving forward with Apple silicon and modern Windows GPU requirements lets us focus on performance, security, and new capabilities across our video and audio applications.

If you have questions or comments, let us know!

Premiere Pro Tech Support Stopping timeline marker from snapping back to start?

Post image
0 Upvotes

When I'm working in the timeline and press play, the blue timeline marker will run to the end of the sequence and then snap back to the very start of the timeline and start playing again from there.

Is there a setting I can change so when the blue marker reaches the end of the sequence it just stops in place instead of snapping back?

Hi! Was looking to see if I can get help or information regarding recreation of this effect or style. My guess is the onscreen effect is an overlay of some sorts, but please correct me if I’m wrong, thanks in advance!

I’d like to create an animation where text swims in from the side, as shown in the video, but breaks up slightly letter by letter. Is there a template you could share with me for this? Alternatively, a YouTube video showing how to do it would be great; unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find one. Thanks for your help.

Premiere Pro Tech Support Multicam audio has a softer playback and lower db levels than original audio file used in the syncing during playback, is there a way to fix this?

I am creating multicam sequences using 2 cameras and an audio file from a recorder/mixer. I am setting up the multicam so in the edit timeline I’m only using the audio from the mixer since camera audio is just scratch so we get a proper sync.

What seems to happen during play back of the multicam sequences being created is that the decibel level is noticeably outputting a lower value than if I click on the source audio file in the project bin and play it back in the source monitor.

I’m trying to find out why this is happening and how i can ensure my decibel level output for the multicams match what the original decibel level output is for the audio file, without having to apply any effects or raise the db level.

From a few comparisons I’m noticing between multicams and audio files, it seems to be about -5db difference and I’m unsure if that’s common in the latest version as I can’t find much on it.

I’m attaching my multicam sequence settings as reference.

I have two workarounds in mind but I’m trying to narrow down if I’ve missed a setting to toggle to ensure all the db levels match up. Thank you so much for coming down the rabbit hole and any helpful tips to look into.

I’m encountering this on Adobe Premiere Pro 26.3.2
macOS Sequioa 15.6

Premiere Pro Tech Support Source Video Appears Differently in Timeline

Post image
8 Upvotes

Context:

I was having a hard time coloring some live music footage from a club in NYC with harsh stage lights. I have many different sequences, each containing one individual cut up song from the performance with cuts and punch ins, etc but each song has its own individual source clip. I’ve been trying different things and coloring methods so some of these sequences have the cut up song copied and pasted in their respective timeline a few times where i can apply different methods, basically just experimenting.

Problem:

In my experimentation I made some changes to the source clip in lumetri rather than the instances of it in my timeline and wanted to pursue that route. However, to my absolute dread, the resulting instances in the timeline look different than the source clip in the source monitor, even with all other existing lumetri effects removed from the timeline clips, thus leaving ONLY the source clip alterations on (to my understanding) which should be the only things influencing any instance of that clip in the timeline. I even deleted the timeline clips, and freshly dragged a section from the source monitor back in to the timeline. Same thing. Once you look at it a minute it's not that subtle, it is different.

So, now I am panicking. Obviously it sucks to not be able to figure something out, but also, this utterly shakes my trust in this program. Am I just missing something stupidly obvious? Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is this a glitch? Is it a Lumetri setting issue? Is it a media cache issue or a previews issue possibly due to the fact that i have multiple instances of this clip in this timeline from past experimentation with different effects, etc? Has everything I’ve ever dragged in from the source monitor become slightly altered in the timeline? For no other reason than just being in the timeline?! I can’t figure out what setting or effect could be ON in the timeline clip separate from my source alterations, as I've deleted all lumetri effects on them. I don’t think I've noticed this in the past but then again, usually my source monitor footage stays in log, being converted later in the timeline, so it would be hard for me to notice a difference in the past. I'd really rather not just start a brand new project here with fresh timeline because the cuts are done. Thanks for any and all help/advice.

How do I do this?/Workflow Advice/Looking for plugin (Solved!) Best method to mask a video to a transparent png's shape?

Post image
62 Upvotes

As the janky example image shows, I want to be able to mask a video clip to a complex image's shape. Unfortunately unlike the example image, the shape is not a solid color and cannot be color-keyed out. I am specifically hoping to apply a video's VHS static effect to a png sequence, and manipulating a pen-tool mask's border for each image in the sequence will not be efficient to my needs.

Is there a way in Premiere Pro to mask a video to the shape how one would a clipping mask in photoshop, or to otherwise let a shape define the edges of a mask without having to draw the edges by hand? My searches for this only turn up built-in shapes like circles.

I appreciate any and all help! I'm currently using 2025 but have access to 2026.

Premiere Pro Tech Support Has anyone else been having issues with Film Impact's integrated effects? (Premiere 26.3.2)

I've worked in a project for the past week using multiple FI transitions/effects, but this week, it started to crash. I did the usual - clean cache, pre-render the entire sequence, restart PC, etc. Every time it'd be a different effect: Cross Dissolve, Clock Wipe, Flip Motion. I decided to go back to 26.2.2, no luck so far.

I'm using a RTX 4060 Laptop GPU, NVIDIA driver 610.74.

Premiere Pro Tech Support Editing from external hard drive extremely laggy?

Hey everyone,

I recently switched to a new PC. Before this I worked on multiple projects from which many files linked to an external 4TB hard drive. Sure it slowed down Premiere a bit to have huge projects with files split between local and external, but overall it was still very easy to work with.

With the new computer I updated Premiere to the latest version, and linking files from the external hard drive is utterly unusable; premiere barely responds with tons of delay, frequent freezes, basically it's impossible to use.

Mind you it was just one video file, in HD no less (1280x720). I transferred this particular file to the PC, unplugged the drive, and Premiere is back to normal.

I checked the task manager, nothing is bottlenecking, not even the hard drive which runs between 40 and 90% use (usb 3.0), and when transferring the file to the PC, it worked at full speed.

So I really just suspect Premiere is acting up. Anyone else has this issue, and if so, what fixed it for you? Thanks.

**EDIT**

Thanks guys, pretty sure I figured it out.

It's the media intelligence analysis, as well as generating peak files and such.

Typically when I make my backups I delete the cache and every other file generated by premiere that's not the project file itself, so when reinstalling it on my clean install of windows and reconnecting the drive, there's so much stuff on it that Premiere began to re-analyze everything, which drastically slowed down read speeds for basic editing. I disabled Media intelligence, and after some time, Premiere finished generating all of its other files, and now it works much better.

Premiere Pro Tech Support (Solved!) Ctrl + M shortcut (on Mac)?

I mistyped an export command (I meant to type cmd + m, but instead typed ctrl + m), and ended up with a duration marker from my in point to my out point. It works on the sequence and also on the footage. And I can't find any mention of it in the shortcuts.

Does anyone know if this is normal behavior?

Premiere Pro Tech Support [Premiere Pro Version 26.3.2] Encoding time estimation very low, stalls at ~60%. Help?

Thumbnail

When I export video of any filetype, the estimated render time is always very very small. It encodes very quickly to 66%, (no matter the video) then takes what I assume is the regular encoding time to complete, without ever updating the few minute estimated encoding time.

I’m a professional video editor but also a big dummy so any help is appreciated!
This appears to be the case in both Premiere and Media encoder.
In-NLE renders have accurate estimations for render time.

I’m (unfortunately) using Windows 11 Pro 10.0.26200
Also unfortunately, I’m using a legitimate paid copy of Premiere.

My PC specs:
- AMD Ryzen 5 7600x 6 cores
- 32GB DDR5 memory 5600 Mt/S
- 1 tb samsung NvME SSD
(I put everything on my NAS but it’s a slow old decommissioned poweredge so i always export it to my fast ssd before moving it)
- Intel Arc B570
(yes I know it’s not the best for video editing but since my 1080ti died, graphics cards are ridiculously expensive. Another problem I consistently have is everything rendered is rendered by “AMD” —my iGPU— according to premiere but in all honesty Intel dedicated GPUs on AMD CPUs are so weird and buggy with Adobe anyway it’s not the biggest problem)

Premiere Pro export stuck at 61% — no effects, raw MP4 footage

Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue with an export in Adobe Premiere Pro. The export consistently freezes at 61%, including when I try exporting through Adobe Media Encoder.

The sequence contains only raw video footage—there are no effects, transitions, or heavy processing applied.

Project/footage details:

  • Resolution: 1920 × 1080 (Full HD)
  • Frame rate: 50 fps
  • Source format: MP4
  • Effects: None
  • Export: H.264
  • Issue: Export gets stuck at exactly 61%

I’ve also tried exporting through Media Encoder, but it freezes at the same point.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue or knows what could cause Premiere Pro to consistently stop at the same percentage?

Any troubleshooting suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

How do I do this? / Workflow Advice / Looking for plugin Premiere Pro users, show me your workspace layouts!

I’d love to see how everyone has their Premiere Pro workspace/layout set up!

I’m especially interested in layouts that are designed to fit everything on a single monitor.

I use an ultrawide monitor, so if anyone else is editing on an ultrawide, I’d really love to see how you organize your panels and workspace.

I’m Japanese, so sorry if my English sounds a little awkward.

Please share your setups! Any kind of layout is welcome. I’m curious to see how everyone works.

Premiere Pro Tech Support I messed Up with Drivers of

Guys, I messed things up... 😭

I have a PC with an i5 6th gen and 16GB RAM.

After installing an ASUS RTX 3050 6GB, I was able to use hardware acceleration for exporting 4K HDR 60fps videos in Premiere Pro.

However, I still got the same error I had before installing the GPU, which sometimes says something like "Bad allocation..."

I read online that I should install the NVIDIA Studio Driver instead of the Game Ready Driver, so I installed the NVIDIA App and switched to the Studio Driver.

After doing that, the Hardware Encoding option disappeared from Premiere Pro 2024.

I tried enabling it through the Debug Database by pressing Ctrl + F12 (Windows) and searching for "hw". I changed/enabled the options related to hardware encoding and Intel hardware export.

Now the Hardware Encoding option is back, but I still can't use it for H.264 or H.265. It says:

«"Your system hardware doesn't support hardware acceleration for the current settings."»

The weird thing is that just before installing the NVIDIA App and Studio Driver, Hardware Encoding was working perfectly.

I honestly don't understand what I messed up. 😭

Do I need to reinstall Premiere Pro, or is there something I can do to restore the hardware encoding?

PC specs:

- Intel i5 6th Gen

- 16GB RAM

- ASUS RTX 3050 6GB

- Premiere Pro 2024

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Premiere Pro Tech Support Why the video exported ( the right ) is not like the preview/adobe premiere ( the left ). I used the 2.2 channel ( web ) like other proposed. Other seem to had this problem, is it related to nvidia update?

I did search and saw other had the same problem. But the trick (change the color 2.2 (web) from default 2.4) didnt fix it.

Is it HDR option i need to turn on or off?

I changed the video preview to GoPro cineform too.

Would love some tips/guidance thx.

Premiere Pro Tech Support (Solved!) Premiere Pro 2025 Giving Out

Hey!

Usually I never use Reddit instead as for those answers I've been waiting for that someone already answered or questioned about. This search around I didn't see any talk about it, but has anyone else had Premiere Pro 2025 give out recently? I was editing videos only 18 hours ago and it was fine with exporting then I wake up with the issue of it not letting me export H.246 at all, user workspace.xml errors and Creative Cloud not letting me update it with error code: 190. I would really love to fix this issue since I kind of got a phobia with computer errors lmao. Any help would help or confirmation of it happening to others to ensure it is nothing on my side! 🙏🙏🙏

Premiere Pro Tech Support Motion Tween effect results in black areas around the footage

The Film Impact effect Motion Tween results in black areas around the footage, even though there is still plenty of visible areas in the footage. Attached is a screenshot of the issue and my settings. This is just a simple position change, but for some reason, Motion Tween can’t show what’s outside of the initial frame, but instead just adds black to the edges. This is also just a though edit, so nothing has been removed from the video footage. The sample is a screen recording made with QuickTime, but this also happens with any other types of footage. Happens both in the edit and in the exported version.

Premiere version: 26.3.0
Apple MacBook Pro M1 Pro 16GB
Footage on the internal SSD (nowhere near being full)
Mac OS Tahoe 26.6.2

Any solutions?

Premiere Pro Tech Support Help! Long HEVC clips (90+ min) play audio but no video — identical shorter clips play fine

I've been hitting, for the last 6 months or so, nonstop playback failure with long HEVC files and I've narrowed it down to clip duration being the only variable. Posting the full comparison in case it's useful, and to ask whether there's a fix short of transcoding:

System
- MacBook Pro, M4 Max, 128 GB unified memory
- macOS Tahoe 26.6.2
- Premiere 26.3.2
- Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (Metal)
- Hardware accelerated decoding enabled
- Media on internal SSD

The symptom:

On a 95-minute HEVC file, pressing play gives me audio only — no picture at all, in both the Source Monitor and the timeline. Playback takes about a second to start. If I pause, the Program Monitor immediately renders the correct frame, so the decoder is clearly capable of producing images; it just can't sustain continuous playback.

Two clips from the same shoot, same settings, both Fujifilm:

WORKS — Fujifilm X-H2S
- 6240 x 4160, HEVC 10-bit 4:2:0, 24.00p progressive
- 11.69 GB / 16:51 duration = ~94.7 Mbps
- Plays perfectly at full resolution

FAILS — Fujifilm X-T5
- 6240 x 3510, HEVC 10-bit 4:2:0, 24.00p progressive
- 66.34 GB / 1:35:38 duration = ~94.7 Mbps
- Audio only, no video

Same codec, same bit depth, same chroma subsampling, same frame rate, same bitrate to within a rounding error, same colour space (Rec.709, no override), same drive. The only meaningful difference is duration.

What I've already ruled out:

- Plays perfectly in QuickTime Player, so the file itself is fine and macOS decodes it without difficulty
- Fully cleared the media cache (all projects closed, delete all cache files from system), relaunched, allowed conforming to complete — no change
- Dropped playback resolution to 1/8 — no change, which argues against this being a decode load issue
- Not variable frame rate
- Transcoding the same file to ProRes 422 LT gives completely smooth playback. Notably, Media Encoder decoded, scaled and re-encoded the entire 95 minutes in about 18 minutes — roughly 6x realtime — while Premiere can't play it back once at 1x

My questions:

  1. Is this a known issue with long Long-GOP H.264/H.265 files? I've found a few threads describing similar behaviour but nothing definitive.
  2. Is there a rough duration threshold where this starts? A 17-minute file is fine and a 95-minute file is broken, so it's somewhere in between and it would help to know where.
  3. Is there any setting, preference or workaround that fixes this without transcoding? I have around 30 archived interviews in this format and transcoding all of them is a significant time and storage cost.
  4. If transcoding really is the only route, is ProRes 422 LT the sensible target, or would something else behave better?

How do I do this?/Workflow Advice/Looking for plugin (Solved!) Text vanish effects: Rain

Question for the more experienced editors; is there a way to make text vanish as though rain were removing it?

E.g., words disappear in uneven chunks from top to bottom, as though drops of rain were wiping the text.

Or, text disappears in uneven circles as though drops of rain were removing it.
