Bullies in Queer Spaces

I am navigating an issue where a friend turned into a bully. That friend is telling other friends a sob story which paints them as the victim. It feels like they are trying to push me out of the queer spaces we both frequent. Some of them have rules, and I have screenshots proving they said really horrible things to me. I let my therapist read their messages, and she said this person sounded really unstable and unsafe.

The start of this whole thing was them finding out I had feelings for them. I told them nothing had to change. They could just say no, and we could continue being friends. The mean comments started in the first conversation about that and got worse over the period of weeks. I asked them to stop several times. I asked them to sit down and talk to me about it. When they started saying things in front of others, I got upset with them about it, and then they sent me a message that they needed space. Now people are coming up to me telling a whole different story, basically that I'm mean for not respecting their sexuality (we're the same sexuality, but they talk about it a lot more than I do).

I've continue to try and be reasonable, but I'm tired of this. I'm worried they are going to do this to someone else. A lot of the people in our spaces are fragile, and many are pretty young. How would you all handle a situation like this?

Would you stay friends with someone who became a cop?

I'm at a point where I'm increasingly feeling like I won't find a decent paying job in the near future that I'll actually enjoy doing.

I've seen the public records and cops in the city I'd like to live in basically pays 6 figures by your second year. And the people squeezing for overtime are easily making 500k with the top person making almost a million last year (insane).

**My hang up is that a lot of my friends are very leftist or progressive. For people like that, would you cut someone off who became a cop, even if you felt like they would do the right thing in hard situations? **

(I'm also open to other suggestions for well paying jobs, I have a bachelor's, it's just not proven to be very useful)

Looking for online queer friends

Im 25F bi and based in London so would prefer people in my time zone but still fine if you live in a different time zone.

I enjoy reading, watching horror and cooking.

Looking for friends strictly online and would like to make genuine friendships.

Not looking for anything flirty or romantic. I’m in a happy, monogamous relationship and am just looking to make genuine friends! I’d especially love to connect with other queer women 💕

Let me know if you’d like to chat :)

News/Current Events Real Talk: I Feel like Conservatives overreact when it comes to Us Queer Folks.

Staunch Conservatives, No matter what religion would claim and truly swear that Homosexuality, Gay Marriages and Trans Rights violate Freedom Of Religion and Disrupt Traditional Family Structure, If that were the case, how come throughout human history that traditional structure always survived even periods when a certain civilizations where open and or had accepted homosexuality alongside it. Tell me how Allowing a Gay couple to marry each other and would have their own family directly harm conservatives way of life except their opinion that it disrupt "Traditional Structure"? Tell Me how linking biological sex of a trans person wouldn't make a contradictional problem when it comes to bathrooms? What i consider a true violation of Religious freedoms is when you make mandatory bible studies in public instituions rather than limit it to Christian Schools ( Public Schools can still have bibles in Library, But don't make all students mandatory read it knowing some aren't Christians, also why not also add Torah and Quarn then). Not let Muslim Women wear their Hijabs, And Lastly Just the whole combination of Chrisitanity within Politics its to me, a Real Violation to Religious Freedom. I know these examples aren't related to lgbt community but yall know what im trying to imply. Most of these Staunch Conservatives will ultimately vote in a person who shares their views and have power to control us even if that leader cannot run the darn country important issues like Economy, Safety and Quality of Life.

Sidenote: I Don't mind if a lowly conservatives tell me "Homosexuality is a Sin" thats their opinion but when they are very open to the hatefulness with phrase like" You will Burn in Hell for Being Gay" and they constantly try their hardest to Demonize, Restrict, Convert and or fully erase the LGBT+ community down by just living life is when i start to be heated by them.

<This Not meant to be a Rant fest by me. its more like the taughts i have and odd curiousity to the minds of these type of Conservatives. Why they truly believe we are harming them by existing and how far they would go to harm us instead. I'm a Bi Pinoy boy whos a ML Protestant living in St Louis, and i have real experience with these hateful conservatives.

🏳️‍🌈 Community Building 🏳️‍⚧️ What to wear?

I'm trying to connect with my local queer community. Mentioning that at my session yesterday, my pan/trans tattoo artist invited me and my husband to a gay bar they enjoy 9/11 for a fan fiction reading event with her friends. We're both cis/pan, and I'm trying to think of what to wear. I typically dress androgynous or fem. Do you think I should dress up (skirt, cute shirt?), or wear like shorts and a band shirt? I very rarely go to bars, and I want to make a good first impression. 😅 Thank you for any and all help!!

What arguments can make being religious and queer compatible?

(Sorry for my english). I'd love to hear from the religious folks among you what rationale you use to make these two parts of you live in peace together in your brains. Sometimes I find myself struggling to find solid arguments when the bible is quite clear on this topic but I myself am also quite clearly not cis-het.

Thanks in advance! :)

homosexuality

I’m a 19-year-old Lebanese queer person, and I’m extremely tired of living somewhere I constantly feel unsafe and unable to be myself. My parents are deeply religious and homophobic, and my family constantly harasses, threatens, and physically hurts me because of how I express myself. Last year, my father pulled a gun on me because he saw me wearing makeup, and I had to run away from home, while just last week my brother punched me in the nose and he keeps on making fun of sexuality I was also bullied throughout school by students and teachers, and because of everything I’ve experienced, I’m scared to go outside, talk to people, or even try to have relationships. I have dreams and passions I want to pursue, but I feel trapped and sometimes have suicidal thoughts because I feel like I can’t take this anymore. I’m crying while writing this because I genuinely don’t know where to go or who to ask for help, and I desperately want to live somewhere safe where I can be myself without being harassed or humiliated. Please, if anyone can help me find a safe place or guide me toward legitimate options for getting to a queer-friendly country like Canada, I would be incredibly grateful because I don’t know what else to do.

Help with labels I'm pretty sure I'm gay...

Like I said I'm pretty sure I'm gay...problem is I have no clue what to do about it, growing up my parents took a very clear stance on all things lgbtq but I was a curious kid with unrestricted internet access and a penchant for staying up way too fucking late so you know how that goes. Back to my point because of my parents stance I'm not entirely sure what to do, I actively engage with gay media like shows and e-comics and I get a butterflies in my stomach type feeling at the romance parts on top of that I have been having thoughts recently that I've never had before and I think the catalyst for this could be my moving away for university...it feels like maybe because I'm far away and they wouldn't know that I could actually explore this part of myself that I've sort of been debating for a few years now. So the tag sort of applies, cause like the title says I'd consider myself "probably gay" but also where do I go from here? Should I actively seek out relationships? I've never done anything like this before, not even when I still thought I was straight, never had a relationship or even tried to seriously chase anybody. Also a sidenote but I've hear before about aromantic people who rarely if ever catch feelings and I think that might be me too, because I've never caught feelings for anybody before but I still feel things when I see characters being lovey dovey in shows and comics...I don't know my heads a mess and I'm super confused.

If you read my jumbled ramble thanks, hope it's ok to post this here too, dunno if it falls under the tag well enough.

Dysphoric male looking for friends

I'm a biological male with gender dysphoria. I'm not against people who decide to transition, but I have no interest in doing it myself. I've made peace with my dysphoria and have decided that presenting as male is what's best for me. I'm looking to connect with people who have similar experiences and outlooks. DM me if this interests you.

🏳️‍🌈 Community Building 🏳️‍⚧️ First time expressing queerness IRL

ive known i was queer for a while. I’ve always had such a lax attitude even as a person that grew up in the church.

I’ve built my identity inside my brain - if that makes sense. Like I’ve never had romantic relationships, but I’ve concluded I like and am attracted to ANYONE i find attractive. I was chill w this. I’m attracted to beautiful people, that was the end of it in my mind. I was satisfied knowing this and was comfortable with the fact that I would probably never tell my direct family.

But now that I’ve started hanging out with this girl im incredibly attracted to - and I sense she might find me attractive too - I’ve become so scared and emotional.

(FIRST TIME HANGING OUT W ANYONE IM REALLY ATTRACTED TO EVER)

I don’t know if what i’m feeling - a bit of panic, excitement, joy, and tears - is because i’ve never truly had to confront my queerness irl, or because im avoidant and have struggled with allowing myself romantic connection in the past.

Probably a mix of both.

All this to say, i feel very overwhelmed with all types of emotions, but most poignant right now is the sadness i feel that im roommates w my little sister - the most important person in my life and the person i trust the most - and i feel like i want to tell her about my first “date” ever, but i can’t jump the gun. I’m scared.

I’m terrified that everything i figured out, thought through, and accepted in my brain is suddenly blowing up and destabilizing because I might be about to begin experiencing a romantic relationship for the first time (a queer one at that!)

Help with labels Gender Identity Crisis

For years I've identified as agender (they/she/him) and I'm trying to figure out what that means to me. I feel sexless/genderless. I've never identified with my AGAB and didn't come out as gender queer until my twenties and learned about nonbinary labels.

Recently I've been thinking and am curious if someone can understand or even relate. I am genderless, present femme (aligning with my AGAB), but feel internally masc. I have wondered if I'm a trans man but it just doesn't seem to quite fit and I'm very comfortable with my agender identity.

Any body dysphoria is pretty small - I don't like seeing myself undressed in the mirror as it gives me anxiety but I don't know if it has to do with misalignment of my gender expression, so to speak, or if I am unhappy with my weight (something I've always kind of struggled with). I have considered it to be a combination. The heavier I am the more curves I have and maybe that triggers my gender dysphoria. Because when I'm smaller with less of a figure and a smaller chest it doesn't bother me as much.

Thought? Opinions? Etc.

Thank you!

I am a person who really likes labels. I am pansexual and pangender. I've been struggling with what "label" I have for a little while (cisgender or transgender). I've decided on the label semi-trans. This would apply to being gender fluid, too

I'm feminine in a performance style. I used to consider myself non-binary since I transcend genders, but now I'm quite confused because I'M FINDING "HE/HIM" QUITE CUTE?? It feels delicate to me. I should clarify that I don't speak English, but in Spanish I wouldn't mind being called a boy or a "él" either. I'M EVERYTHING AND NOTHING AT THE SAME TIME. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NOW??

(+ the lyrics of Spoken for because it's literally me..)

i don't want to get anything about them wrong. i know that they use he/him but don't identify as men. do y'all feel dysphoria? and what's it like if you do? do you like using masc names or prefer fem ones? would y'all want top surgery/facial masculization/bottom surgery? do y'all like looking fem? are there any other things that you'd want in a book about y'all?

Just wanted to say I’m proud of you

Idk where you may be at or what you may be feeling at the moment but I just wanted to say I’m proud.

I’m proud of everyone out here who’s trying to live authentically and learn to grow love for yourself. Regardless of level of success I’m proud of you for trying to love yourself and others despite all of the bullshit and hardship we experience

I’m proud of you for fighting for the real you who at one time wasn’t seen and thus wasn’t supported and being there for them now.

I’m proud of you for working so hard to give yourself an environment in which you can heal. Even if it’s not there yet, may it come to you before you know it and embrace you so gradually you feel safe before your rational brain connects the dots

I’m proud of you for allowing yourself to be loved by those who love you for who you are, and cherishing them beyond words and despite complexity.

Even if it feels like no one loves you, and no one is proud of you know that I am, know that people who you will meet and value beyond anything else will even if you haven’t gotten to meet them, and if all else fails know that Dolly Parton DEFINITELY is and is currently smiling on you from whatever plane she now resides in.

You got this and making it far enough to read this means you’re a fighter full of resilience and strength. You have fought the good fight and I hope that you may find people in life, on the internet, and in your own heart that adore you the way you deserve

I love you all ❤️ and I’m so glad you exist

Help with labels how do i know if i'm bi?

so recently i've been having sort of an identity crisis because i noticed i'm not comfortable with being referred to as a "straight" girl anymore. like it never used to bother me too bad but it's just built up over time i guess cause i'm not sure if i identify with it anymore

anyway, i have a boyfriend (he's bi) and i love him very very much. i know for a fact that i am demiromantic (for a long time i thought i was just aromantic) but he was the first person i found myself capable of falling in love with and wanting to be with both romantically and sexually.

but basically i don't know if i'm straight because people online keep confusing me because they're saying that if you wouldn't date a girl you're not bi BUT it's like that with men for me too. (like i NEVER dated anyone before my boyfriend and idk he is just an exception for some reason)

and the reason i don't think i'm straight is cause honestly i'm like sexually attracted to certain women (like masculine women for example i'm not really attracted to feminine women) and before i got with my boyfriend i would daydream a lot about sexual things with women but i would never daydream about anything romantic with them

with men, i would daydream less sexually (but i did and do daydream about them sexually don't get me wrong) and more so like domestic stuff like being on a couch watching movies and stuff like that

so long story short i just want to know what counts as being bi and if me not wanting to date women actually means that i'm not bi and what does it make me if i am sexually attracted to them??

also i am sorry if i did not word this too well i feel uncomfortable talking about it like i haven't even talked to my best friend about this (who is aromantic and a lesbian) or my boyfriend (who is literally bi) or any of my other friends who are queer (which is literally all of them) and i don't know why i don't like talking about it i literally only felt okay enough to come to strangers about it😭

Does this make sense?! - Unlabelled sexuality

I (20F) personally always knew I wasn’t straight and coming to terms with that has never been an issue. I’m surrounded by supporting loving people (mostly straight).

The thing I struggled with, was finding “the right label for my sexuality”. It’s why I waited a longer time to come out, even tho I was certain and knew.

It’s always felt like, every queer person around me knew exactly who they were and felt so strong and assured by their label. And I think that is so beautiful and great, and if using a label makes u feel more like u, then I love that for u!!

But I just never felt that way, calling myself bi or pan, always felt like putting on shoes, that have never and will never fit me.

So when I found out that using a label is not a “requirement for queerness” and that there are other ppl out there that feel this way to (tho I’ve never met anyone in real life or have rlly had a conversation with someone that has had these experiences) I finally felt relieved/understood.

I am Unlabelled, I identify as queer/Unlabelled. I don’t, and never have felt comfortable with a label. Not because I’m ashamed, or confused or unshure, just because being unlabelled, feels like me.
(Tho questioning is ofc, sometimes a big part of coming to terms w ur sexuality, and that is totally okay)

I don’t see much representation or people rlly talking about this, so if anyone has felt/feels similarly and u want too share, I’d appreciate it.

It’s very misunderstood/ people don’t “get” (tho I love my mom…but she doesn’t rlly get the “no labels” thing). It’s like if they can’t categorise u into a “box” ur just aimlessly floating around in their mind with a big question mark next to ur name.

Basically everytime I tell someone I’m unlabelled:
Me: …yes I’m unlabelled/ queer.
Them: like ur a lesbian, or who do u like??
Me: no, i just like who i like, without preference or anything. And I don’t feel comfortable using label, for myself to identify my sexuality.
Them: ohh..so ur bi/pan, got it.
Me: 😐

It can be very exhausting, but I’m always happy if people are truly interested and want to understand and learn.

I hope to anyone who reads this, and feels/ has felt this way, just know ur not alone. And u are valid.

Help with labels Am I considered bi?

I’m afab and consider myself hetero-oriented aroace. I feel queer platonic, alterous, sensual and aesthetic attraction for guys. A few months ago I found out that a girl in my school likes me and I started paying more attention to her. I realized that I really like her personality, her style, the way she carries herself, and her physical looks. I started to feel aesthetic and sensual attraction for her even though I’ve only ever felt it for guys. I didn’t think anything of that attraction until I was talking to her one day and realized I felt alterous attraction for her. Over the months it’s disappeared, but I wouldn’t mind if we were in a relationship now.

It helps that she dresses and presents masculinely, and I’m attracted to that. But after realizing I like her, I think I would like her even if she didn’t dress or act masculine, as long as I know that she’s still masculine at her core, yk. I don’t feel attracted to any other girls. I never have, not even close, so calling myself bi almost sounds misleading because it was almost like she was the “exception”. I’ve never seen that type of masculinity on a girl and I like it.

It feels wrong to call myself bi because I still can’t relate to bisexual people since it was only one person I’ve ever felt this way for. I don’t feel primary attraction towards girls. But it feels wrong calling myself completely hetero knowing I would be in a qpr with her given the chance. If anyone knows what this is called that would be great, and I know its pretty complicated given I’m aroace lol

Gays, what do you do for work?

And do you like it?

Currently I’m working in a slightly conservative-adjacent field and lately the code switching is becoming a lot. I’m wondering if there are any jobs/environments/fields I could get into where I’m more comfortable being myself and would love to hear about everyone else’s experiences, especially if you’re also neurodivergent.
