I’ve had this ready before Mayer was even on the IL

Dude comes in to August with a great ‘stache and 2 career home runs, and he hits a couple of dingers and I’m appreciative of the bench really doing anything at all. I truly haven’t expected much from him to this point, but at what point with 7 home runs in just 31 at bats, it’s not feeling so much like a fluke and similar to Durbin earlier in the year, he simply figured something out and uped his game. If he keeps this up, how crazy would it be if Mickey Fucking Gasper is the best hitter in baseball going into the playoffs😂

Well this sucks. Sucks big time

Not just for his 2 huge innings tonight, but for his whole deal. He was an unheard of 29-year old minor league free agent who spent last year in Korea after never pitching beyond AAA. Now he's got an ERA barely above 1 and has been getting some crucial outs for this team over the last month.

The bullpen has been a strength all year, and he's been excellent at a time when other guys have been injured or shaky.

BOSTON — Boston Red Sox rookie starter Payton Tolle is a self-proclaimed hugger — even with opposing batters, apparently.

The fun-loving left-hander proved it Monday during a night that ended with a 9-8 Red Sox win over the Seattle Mariners in 10 innings.

The scene unfolded in the third, as Tolle fielded Dominic Canzone’s chopper back to the mound. Tolle trotted over to tag Canzone, then slowed at the last minute before opening his arms to embrace Canzone as he tagged him.
