Did rockhounding this weekend found some jaspers if not mistaken and 2 mini agates, for the rest took to much rocks but they might tumble well

Going on a road trip (picture attached). Anyone have any recommendations on quality spots along or close to this path? It will be drove there and back ish. Potentially will be driving back through the Grand Tetons. I’ve recently been getting very interested in rockhounding but I also really love hiking I was wondering if anyone knows of some good hikes that go to good rockhounding spots in Washington, specifically mostly western Washington but hey if I gotta drive to find I real gem then I will

Tomorrow I’m going to Gibsons for a day trip and would love tips and suggestions from any Sunshine Coast rockhounds! Also I would like to know how common it is to find quartz at the beaches.

The first pic is a coral fossil I found while out rock hounding on Sturgeon Bay Beach in Michigan!

The second pic is all the stones we found at The bay. We got a mix of Charlevoix Stones, Shell Fossils, Yellow Jasper, Agate, Quartzite, Granite, Ferruginous Quartz, Wishing Rock and Milky Quartz! 🤩

I used a dremel and wet/dry sandpaper for the process. For the dremel I used that small cut off diamond wheel to cut through, until it didnt cut all the way through lol. I had to snap the rock in half and then use the diamond grinding bits to try and get it as flat as possible. After I finished with the dremel it was just elbow grease on 220 grit followed by 320, 400, 600, and 1000. I know thats not really enough to achieve a proper shine. At the moment im only practicing and waiting to get a few more attachments for the dremel to make it easier.

Im taking inspiration from @MichiganRocks on youtube for this process. At the moment my current living situation wouldnt allow for a rock tumbler but I have tons of time at work to kill and I work in a shop so I figured i'd try tackling this. I plan on getting grits up to 10k for polishing, this is mostly just a testing stage to see how I like it. Im pleasantly surprised that I really enjoy this. Just need better attachments and I can polish an entire rock without having to cut it in half.

Found on Mackinac Island in Michigan. Not sure if it's just not the same type as the other Petoskeys I see online and if it's worth polishing to make at fossil coral come out more. Right now it doesn't have those little ridges I see in other Petoskey stones.

It weighs about 65 pounds. Found on Vancouver Island.

A corner of it was already cracked so I broke open that piece to see if it was worth taking. The druzy sections weren't noticeable until I bleached the thing. Some pieces have thin veins of a shiny metal.
