Just got her today and letting her settle into her new enclosure, i know the humidity is high right now the substrate is a little wet from mixing the coconut fiber in but should dry out soon. So far a very chill temperament and moving around her new home a fair amount hopefully she settles in nicely and i can keep her happy. Her name is Nephthys :)

My Curly hair molted late last night into this morning. She was doing great but I can't tell if she is trapped behind her molt or still getting out of it. I'm worried as this modified burrow I bought her in might be trapping her. I intended to rehouse her the day before and then.. she decided to flip over. I tried to get a video of her behind what I think is the molt but its hard to tell. What should I do if anything? Will she work herself out?

it's been more than a week since my g. pulchripes blocked the tunnel and made their own home deep underground. they don't even do anything there just walking and sitting around and they don't drink the water i put outside the tunnel, so i'm getting worried + i can't feed them this way... is it safe to excavate? or should i let them be? how long is this behavior gonna last?

For those who helped me out or were following me the last few weeks, my 23 year old Grammostola Rosea, Harriet, had a bad molt that has now resulted in her passing yesterday.

She was a great spider and a companion of mine since I had just turned 7. She lived an amazing and long life, and I hope she finds nothing but plump crickets and a warm sun to bask in in the after life.

My sweet Asmodeus escaped from their enclosure either late last night or early this morning. They were able to pry open the feeding cap on the top of their home. I found the top on the floor and immediately searched for them with no avail. Is there hope I'll find them? Freaking out rn. I've never had a T escape before

Hi everyone! I wanted to share Kariguu, the Master Weaver with this sub! She’s a major character in the anthropomorphic fantasy novel I’m working on. The scene here is when she makes her introduction. The artwork is by u/nickthagreek, the talented fountain ink illustrator of the project.

Kariguu is based on the actual 20 year old salmon pink birdeater living in my home office that I’ve kept since she was a wee spiderling. Her near infinitely patient real life behavior was the basis for the strange, ancient, almost eldritch-like being that is Kariguu.

I’ve been fascinated by spiders and tarantulas since I was young. I feel that they’re usually depicted as simple monsters in most fiction. While Kariguu is certainly quite imposing, she’s not a simple monster. Beyond the fantastical elements of the story, spiders exhibit otherworldly patience and insane precision and craftsmanship. I wanted to capture that in a character.

My pink toe recently molted for the first time with me. Everything’s been mostly fine, I’ve left her alone, made sure she had access to water. She’s just in a strange position that I’m not sure if I should be concerned could potentially be a death curl. She originally stayed deeper in the cup (which isn’t her entire enclosure, by the way. Mainly used as a hide because she had it so heavily webbed I didn’t want to take it away. She frequently leaves the cup to explore) and then came to the outside where she’s been curled up like this for a bit now.

I've been owning a G.pulchripes for about 3 weeks now....it's 2.5-3cm in size and it last ate a mealworm 1 week ago which is a bit bigger than its size...it's abdomen, I have noticed, is 2.5-3x it's carapace and i can also see just a tiny and shiny spot on its abdomen... lately for the past week it has been burrowing and has never came out so is it preparing for pre-moult, is it normal behaviour, or is the environment wrong?(I use 100% cocopeat, mostly bone dry with a tattoo ink cup as a water dish)....any suggestions or experience regarding this species' behaviour and husbandry is appreciated

my sweet Bram is finally ready to eat after his molt ~15 days ago! his fangs took a while to harden this time but now he’s finally good to eat. gave him an extra big mealworm as a special treat today, hopefully will encourage some more growth soon :)

My T. albopilosus, Tribble, had unexpected babies. I'm still new to tarantula keeping and didn't know my store bought tarantula could have an egg sack 77 days after I got her. Another 5 months later I have more Curlies! Way less than I thought, because a lot of the nyphms suddenly died off, I am not sure why, I followed every bit of advice I could find. But I still have 9!

hi everyone! im new to the hobby and just ordered my first tarantula, a grammostola pulchra sling :) i just prepared my first enclose and i was wondering what u guys think? anything i should change? i might add a water dish later but as its quite small i think i will just wet the corner until it can upgrade to a bigger enclosure
