One of my many beautiful ladies, she is my oldest by far and easily one of the sweetest. Look closely to see her red fangs!🌺♥️

For those who helped me out or were following me the last few weeks, my 23 year old Grammostola Rosea, Harriet, had a bad molt that has now resulted in her passing yesterday.
She was a great spider and a companion of mine since I had just turned 7. She lived an amazing and long life, and I hope she finds nothing but plump crickets and a warm sun to bask in in the after life.
Here are a few pictures of her in her prime - and have a drink for the old gal (if you can) this evening.

hey yall. i went to a reptile shop near me to find some dubia roaches and ended up walking out with a new friend.
Meet Osseus.
This rehousing was almost just as easy as the first one. first it went straight for defense but then immediately gave up and refused to move at all when i brushed its legs. it finally moved when i changed the position of the tub cause some dirt fell on its legs and then it kind of just flopped in. I felt bad, but it seems fine. never kicked hairs once so that was cool.
2 successful rehouses down! hopefully many more to come over the years

My T. albopilosus, Tribble, had unexpected babies. I'm still new to tarantula keeping and didn't know my store bought tarantula could have an egg sack 77 days after I got her. Another 5 months later I have more Curlies! Way less than I thought, because a lot of the nyphms suddenly died off, I am not sure why, I followed every bit of advice I could find. But I still have 9!

So yesterday my C. Versicolor escaped from their enclosure due to it being a shitty one from Amazon (don’t worry this is being taken care of) and I was almost certain I wouldn’t find them bc they are a 0.5” sling but lo’ and behold when I came back from work today they were crawling along my bed frame. They are now safely back in an enclosure but WOOF that was a stressful 24 hours 😂

Hi everyone! I wanted to share Kariguu, the Master Weaver with this sub! She’s a major character in the anthropomorphic fantasy novel I’m working on. The scene here is when she makes her introduction. The artwork is by u/nickthagreek, the talented fountain ink illustrator of the project.
Kariguu is based on the actual 20 year old salmon pink birdeater living in my home office that I’ve kept since she was a wee spiderling. Her near infinitely patient real life behavior was the basis for the strange, ancient, almost eldritch-like being that is Kariguu.
I’ve been fascinated by spiders and tarantulas since I was young. I feel that they’re usually depicted as simple monsters in most fiction. While Kariguu is certainly quite imposing, she’s not a simple monster. Beyond the fantastical elements of the story, spiders exhibit otherworldly patience and insane precision and craftsmanship. I wanted to capture that in a character.
Anyways, hope folks enjoy it! Happy to answer any questions at all about my salmon pink or the story or anything else. Thanks!!

I was attempting to pair a very unreceptive much larger female in my temporary breeding pen- he wasn’t tapping but when he would make his usual “croak” like sound and a much smaller female in a temp deli cup (whom I thought was not mature enough to pair) began tapping like crazy. So I removed the much larger female from the breeding enclosure and replaced with the smaller female. She SHAMELESSLY perused him! 👀 she was gonna get what she wanted. 💅🏽🕷️ and he really took his time too, bro was playing around down there. 🥵

Shiro molted several weeks ago and has finally opened his door and it looks like he’s been busy today. Caught him in the act. At least it isn’t going in the water… yet.

it's been more than a week since my g. pulchripes blocked the tunnel and made their own home deep underground. they don't even do anything there just walking and sitting around and they don't drink the water i put outside the tunnel, so i'm getting worried + i can't feed them this way... is it safe to excavate? or should i let them be? how long is this behavior gonna last?

My pink toe recently molted for the first time with me. Everything’s been mostly fine, I’ve left her alone, made sure she had access to water. She’s just in a strange position that I’m not sure if I should be concerned could potentially be a death curl. She originally stayed deeper in the cup (which isn’t her entire enclosure, by the way. Mainly used as a hide because she had it so heavily webbed I didn’t want to take it away. She frequently leaves the cup to explore) and then came to the outside where she’s been curled up like this for a bit now.

She has been rehoused since this video, so don't worry.
