25 years ago today, the final episode of Mr Rogers’ Neighborhood aired on PBS and the world was never the same afterwards.

Love of my life turned me down because of a Mormon religious prophesy.
 in  r/BoyDinnerDiaries  1d ago

I'm 37. I am an ex-mormon.

I cannot tell you how traumatized and messed up growing up in the church left me. I was brain washed from birth.

If she's still this set in it, I would not have hope. She will always choose what the old guys tell her to do.

I hope you go out into this world and find whomever it is that really fits you.

I got married when I was only 21, but after being raised in the church that felt much older than the 17 to 19 year olds. I did not marry a Mormon.

I am only just now really making headway in my healing. I've been at it for two years with a therapist but was working on my own previously.

My upbringing in the church still haunts my life today.

What’s the weirdest thing you’re allergic to?
 in  r/AskReddit  1d ago

Well, I don't know, each individual person's definition of weird is different.

Allergies:

Wheat (not just the gluten, the whole plant)

Soy

Pumpkin

Eggs

Walnuts

The sun

My own sweat

Latex

Nickel

Adhesive and Adhesive remover

I feel like the Pumpkin one is pretty strange.

She's lost 130lbs so far, but it didn't fully hit her until she made a mannequin of her body as it now. Now, she's about to be a problem.

If a black candidate has to be perfect, but the white candidate can be a s*xual abuser, you're racist.

I will confirm that theory.

I was raised in a high demand religious cult. I did not know you could choose to not have kids until I was already very pregnant.

Advice Needed Lost in the labyrinth

Baked salmon from the freezer section of Costco, heirloom tomato from our neighbor, zucchini, cauliflower, broccoli and potatoes.

Our couples therapist isn't a good fit.

I 37 F and my wife 42 MTF have been through the ringer the past few years. Together 20 years, married 16.

Multiple car accidents (none our fault) home loss due to electric fire, assault, fleeing a dangerous living situation and going no contact with all of my family with exception of my mom.

We're both struggling and being parents is hard.

She's trying to be herself and get to be who she is for the first time. She's trying so hard to be a better spouse and parent and has been making great improvements. I love all her hyper focuses and bits of knowledge I get learn from her.

I'm trying to find pieces of myself in the rubble of what I thought my life was until I pulled off the rose colored glasses and everything shattered. The veil of denial lifted. I cannot describe how deeply it hurts to grieve fond memories once they've been dyed in the river of truth. The CPTSD makes sense now.

I struggle to give positive feedback, i have have been practicing.

We need to reconnect and find each other again. I feel like somewhere along the way we forgot we're a team.

We're both going through a lot and I feel like we both struggle to find the words to talk about how we're feeling or what we're experiencing with whatever thing we're working through.

How do you find each other in the middle of the messy-stressy-depressy?

How do you remember to appreciate each other when there are no metaphorical spoons or spell slots left?

Sometimes I don't notice things my wife has helped with while I've been busy with another task and by the time I have a moment to notice the kids are in bed and I feel awkward for not noticing sooner or Sometimes I miss it entirely because my mind is one giant list of things I need to get done or anticipate.

Drop your ideas, conversation starters and words of wisdom.

People you are healthy enough to donate blood but never do, what’s keeping you from doing so?
 in  r/AskReddit  7d ago

The red cross.

The attendant assigned to monitor me for my donation was flirting so hard at the other attendant that she managed to mess up, badly. I'm not sure what she messed up but people were freaking out and my attendant was asking "how do I put it back?" Things got a bit fuzzy. They almost sent me via ambulance to the ER for a blood transfusion but after calculating my estimated blood volume vs the over donation it was decided that I was probably going to be okay. There were questions about liability that I overheard as they tried to reason out how long to observe me before allowing me to drive home. The main worry being that I could pass out. It freaked me out. Then I couldn't donate because I was pregnant or recovering from pregnancy or surgeries. I do plan to begin donating once the kids are back in school.
