How to have a smooth even texture always?
Have you tried using virgin coconut oil? I am using it for my dandruff and it went away, I really don't know about your case but virgin coconut oil have many good benefits. Maybe using it for a smoother hair texture works. I use atleast a pea size and rub it in my palms and apply it to my hair, consider adding more since you have long hair if you plan to use it.

For me, this is just stress. Your pothos is not dying, I think what it needs is sunlight and fresh air. Is it inside the house most of the time?
And also please consider the first comment regarding about your soil.
