What is it about this app that brings out the worst in people?
I’m a driver and generally I am pretty easy going. I understand that my job is to get you from point A to point B comfortably, safely and without encumbering you with too much of my bullshit - I’m providing you a service and am more than happy to provide it.
Before browsing this sub I was mostly lurking through the uberdriver sub and tended to think everyone one on there was entitled and a socially inept retard. I hate seeing people do a similar job that I do that so clearly abhor their passengers and who are seemingly so unhappy with everything that any single passenger does. Some passengers dosuck more than others, but for the most part, most of the passengers I deal with are perfectly fine and respectful.
However, coming onto this sub right now and briefly going thru its posts and notice that it’s just not the uber drivers that are insufferable…you ppl are equally as insufferably entitled.
So I’m curious, what is it about the uber app that brings out this entitled behavior from both parties?

Riding with a car seat/toddler
What’s the best way to let the driver know I’m riding with my son, who uses a front facing car seat?
He doesn’t eat or drink in the car, so his seat is clean.
In our truck, his legs aren’t long enough to reach anything but I was thinking how I could take his shoes off once seated to avoid dirty marks if he did put his feet up?
He’s high functioning autistic and wears headphones in the car, but should I mention his diagnosis?
I’m scared of the stigma it’ll invoke and I don’t really want to have give a TedTalk on ASD kids every time.
I’ll be taking him to, and picking him up from school- would a round trip from my house to the school be better than one way there and having another ride back? It’s a very controlled and regimented drop off/pick up process because it’s a special needs school.
There won’t be more than 3 minutes of waiting (per the school, anyone taking longer than 3 minutes will be immediately told to move and their child receives a demerit. 3 demerits equals a monetary fine so everyone is motivated to keep to the schedule.) and if the weather is bad, I’ll of course end the ride and find another so no one is literally caught, waiting in a snow storm.
I’m just anxious.. I use uber to get back and forth to work and I don’t want to be the “late at the bar again lady” (I’m a closing bartender, 3am is my 5pm) or the “bus line lady” dropping my kid off.
Am I over thinking it?

Our van broke down yesterday
We were 3.5 hours from home. Spent most of the day trying to fix it on the side of the road. We were unable to. Scheduled an uber that seemed to be our only option to get home. I feel kinda bad for not tipping more but also this was the scariest ride of my life. This man would accelerate to 80mph than slam on the brakes down to 30mph. All over the road driving in between lanes. I was tempted to have him drop us off somewhere but I was worried we wouldn’t be able to find another driver.

Discounts on Uber rides weekly
Does anyone uber account as a passenger gets a weekly discount on rides. How do I make sure to keep it going, because this saves me a lot of money on rides and I frequently use the app.

Uber restricted my device with no reason
For some reason (I’ve been trying to ask Uber why my device is restricted) all they keep saying is they have detected an error processing my request/ my decide was restricted for violating terms and conditions. It just doesn’t make sense to me why. I don’t do anything out of the ordinary when using uber. Had the same phone for years I don’t do anything suspicious so I’m just confused. An app I’ve used for years to get me to and from work suddenly is unavailable to me and I do not have another device to use uber on, that’s just a bit inconvenience.

PSA: Don't let your Uber driver stop for gas
Paid for a $31 ride (when its normally $21, damn surge prices), the driver asked if he could stop for gas because he was running low, and we were right next to a gas station, so I said okay, thinking it was better than risking running out on the way home.
After being dropped off, I was charged $41 for the ride because it "took longer than expected to arrive to my destination."
First time I've ever had one ask me and now I've learned the hard way to just tell them to fuck off and drive or ill get smacked with a big ass upcharge
Drivers need to start enforcing the rules when it comes to shared rides.
I just finished the most uncomfortable 20 minute ride because someone ordered a shared ride for 4 people. While only 2 were supposed to be in the car. 1 in front seat 2 plus me in the back, packed like sardines and the other person had been left behind because she couldn't fit.

Munich is weird - tips for using Uber
Munich has some strange laws and which gives less to the drivers. So unless you go somewhere far like the airport, you will get booked-cancelled-rebooked over and over. This is with any of the uber options like x, large, priority. Instead scroll down and select uber Taxi (only taxi). It’s going to cost more but someone will actually come get you. There is no Lyft so no real other option and flagging a taxi

What is your take on reserved rides?
I know everybody has a different thoughts on reserved rides. Just wanted to hear other's opinion on it, even if they are negative.

Traveling to the airport alone at 4am as a woman
Hello,
I have never used Uber before and now I find myself needing a ride to the airport at 4 am tomorrow morning. I am a 30 year old woman and I am feeling a bit scared of getting in the car with a complete stranger in the middle of the night, alone.
I guess I am just looking for some reassurance. If I feel unsafe or notice something is off, is someone tracking my location? Does uber know where i am?
I am probably over thinking but i feel incredibly anxious about it.

Scam?
Hi, I uninstalled the Uber app a while ago because they don’t operate in the area where I now live. Today, I suddenly received a WhatsApp message from Uber, even though I hadn’t requested a ride. Is this a mistake, or is someone trying to log in using my details?
(The message gives an Uber code and asks for option 1: copy code, or option 2: I haven’t requested a code). The number they’re using for this is +1(940)290-7669. I’m from the Netherlands (+31).
Because of the blue ☑️, I clicked on option 2. But now I’m having second thoughts; could this be harmful?
Thanks in advance for your help!!

Is there a possibility my ride request will be accepted or should I look for a different source of transportation?
Hi! So my family wanted me to see if we can get an uber from Massachusetts to Staten Island New York. We did put in the request a few days ago for the 25th. However I have a feeling it won’t be accepted. Should I give it some more time or should I just say f it and we use another service?

If you pick me up in 90 degree weather with no ac, and all 4 windows rolled down, I’m giving you an immediate one star.
Matter of fact, I’m going to start doing it for any uber driver that picks me up with no Ac in 80 degree weather.
This has got to stop.

New Uber Scam?! Very realistic (Warning!! Show your family & friends)
This morning, I was awoken by a series of notifications from "Uber"! Has anyone else seen this before? Can anyone confirm its a scam? Can anyone tell me how the scam works? How do I protect myself from here on out?? What do I do with the notification banners??
Luckily, I'm a highly skeptical person so my gut reaction was to pause and consider it an intricate scam (especially because I haven't used Uber in awhile). But, if I were still using it daily, even I may have fallen for this!! I am less naiive/gullible than most when it comes to these kinds of things... these schemes are always obvious to me but this one seems hyper-realistic which tells me alot of people wouldn't be able to tell if it is a scam!
Take this as a warning!! Tell your vulnerable family and friends about this VERY REALISTIC scam (if it even is a scam, which it has to be right???)

Disgusting odors.
What is the problem with Uber drivers nowadays?
When the car doesn't smell like cigarettes, it smells like disgusting perfume.
When I rate a ride low, I only have the option "disturbing smell." And if the driver sees this feedback from Uber, he just pours even more disgusting perfume/deodorant inside the car.
What the fuck is going on here, Uber?
Can you please fix this?

Uber driver threatened to shoot me and I got refunded 77 cents
I live in Jamaica and that’s where this all took place.
I took an uber 2 days ago to get home from a thrifting event. After I got in the car, the driver started asking me questions about the friend who helped me put my bags in the back seat. He asked if my mom dropped me off (assuming my friend was my mother) and when I said “no? What?” He asked who she was to me. I didn’t answer and attempted to stay silent the rest of the ride.
When we got to my city I realized he had driven through a really unsafe area for some reason. I’d never had an uber drive me through this area before despite having taken the same trip multiple times. This combined with his earlier behavior made me genuinely scared.
At this point he starts complaining about how much he hates driving through this area and how this always happens when he accepts trips from the area he picked me up from. He used a lot of curse words and was being really verbally aggressive towards me. I told him that I literally have never seen a driver take this route before but he just kept getting angrier and angrier.
I decided to stop talking and keep my mouth shut. My instinct was to just freeze because I genuinely wasn’t sure what he would do and I didn’t know where I was so I didn’t feel safe getting out. I started tracking our location using the gps on my phone to make sure we were heading in the direction of my house and we were.
But then we ended up in traffic a bit further into the trip. That’s when things got even worse. His phone started ringing incessantly and he kept declining it. Eventually when it stopped he started complaining about the traffic. Then he started talking about killing people and how easy it would be for him. I didn’t move or say anything but at this point my friends had my location and knew that the uber I was in seemed really bad.
I was really scared and I couldn’t figure out whether or not I should call the police so I just froze up. I was really dumb too and forgot to use the recording feature. (The app told me that he was recording though so I’m hoping that will help) I can’t remember his exact words but he sounded like he was so upset about the trip and the route and the traffic that he wanted to shoot me and just leave.
We got to the entrance of my community and I knew for certain that I didn’t want to direct him to my house so I told him to stop and just leave me at the entrance gate. I got out of the car and grabbed my stuff from the back (multiple very heavy bags) and started the 25 minute walk to my house from the gate. The sun was so hot, the bags were really heavy and I was so shaken up that I literally cried the whole way home.
I reported the incident to uber immediately (which I later learned might have been a mistake) and I requested a refund. I barely heard anything back (it’s only been two days so perhaps they’re still reviewing or something) and they refunded me the equivalent of USD$0.77 from the USD$16.63 trip.
I feel really screwed up about all this tbh. I’ve been extremely anxious about going out and taking public transportation and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. And Uber’s handling of this stuff just seems really careless to me.
EDIT:
The entire conversation happened in Jamaican patois which is why I wasn’t able to quote him directly. The gist of what he said to me was that he wants to shoot me and leave and that it would have been easy for him.
I cannot believe I have to say this but THAT IS A THREAT.
Also I don’t just want a free ride. The 77 cent refund felt like a slap in the face and it would make anyone mad if they paid any amount to be threatened like that and then still have to struggle home carrying all their stuff.

Costco Uber Eats return question what happens to the refund?
I bought a PlayStation through Costco on Uber Eats, but I’m thinking about returning it because I want to exchange it for the Pro model instead.
Since the Costco purchase was made through Uber Eats, I’m wondering how the return actually works. If I bring the PlayStation back to Costco, would Costco issue the refund as a Costco Shop Card/Cash Card, or does it automatically go back to whatever payment method the Uber shopper used to purchase it?
Has anyone here actually returned a Costco item that they originally ordered through Uber Eats? What happened with the refund?
Just trying to figure out what to expect before I make the return. Thanks!

Uber comfort toggle disappeared
Just curious- did anyone get their uber comfort option in the driver app removed?. Took some comfort trips this morning and as I was getting ready for my afternoon shift, I noticed the comfort toggle was removed. I reached out to uber for support but the agent was absolutely clueless. He told me there’s no problem from his end. I posted in other groups to see if anyone else was having the same issue.
PS: I drive a 2021 VW atlas and the last time I checked, the vehicle is still eligible for comfort in the Dallas area.
Now I only see XL and UberX

Driver pay as a percent of fare
Took a ride today, driver took home 51% of the fare. This seems appropriate. Is it typical?

Got this email
I got this email from Uber saying my rating has been dropped below 4.75 but I have checked it on my app. It still says 4.99. Is it some glitch or something? Did any of you all know about this? What are the possible reasons for getting me this email? Did anyone else got this?

Lost item in car - can’t reach driver
Any tips to reach driver? Immediately after I was dropped off, I realized that I had left my keys in the car. I got on the Uber app and let them know that I lost my keys. I keep trying to call the driver and it says the driver doesn’t have a voicemail set up. Now I can’t call the driver anymore. Uber is saying that I’ve reached the max amount of times to call the driver. This is super frustrating and feel like Uber should be doing more to help out. Especially that I reached out maybe one minute after I got out of the car.

uber drivers keep cancelling
this has never happened until today, and it has now happened 8 times. they’ll accept it, drive 4 minutes and then cancel and i’ll get a new driver. is this just a coincidence or is this happening to anyone else?
