They keep using a local freelance guy who is really cheap and doesn't have any equipment, has to rent everything. And they keep getting this kind of quality production work out of it. (This is right as the verdict is being read, they didn't have sense enough to put the tripod any higher than people's heads.)

I have a lot of old video files from my dads miniDV camcorder. After a lengthy process full of adaptors and 20 year old software, I finally copied the raw digital files to my PC.

But, now to the question: All the videos were filmed in 50i. In the camcorder the videos look nice and smooth, but when I play them back from the copied files on the PC, windows plays them as 25p. The difference is pretty clear and pretty annoying.

Now I know of AI tools that can frame generate and "fill in the gaps" on the interlaced frames to make 50p...but these are family videos from real personal experiences, I do not want no AI to just fill in the gaps with artificial shit or try to "enhance" other things.

Is there a software where it takes the 50i, and converts to 50p by taking interlaced frame 1 +2, then interlaced frame 2+3, and then interlaced frame 3+4 etc etc?

I am a sound tech at a sports venue, and i’ve been delegated as a a video tech as well, I’ve never done this, but it’s nothing very complicated: i need to play intro videos for the players entering the field at the beginning of a match, now i need your help: what software do i use for this so i can have a preview of the queue on my laptop screen, send out a video signal to the led screen independently, and have it stay there on a last video frame until i play another one? The simpler the better, preferably free, the previous tech used a vista pc and windows media player so i would want to up the professionalism a bit. Thanks!

Got mentioned a few ones to me in passing, when I was last there in 2024, but I couldn't make them as had some plans already book with my partner for the 2 days I was there. This time being solo, I'm trying to work out if there's any events on, especially if they are ones that need pre-booked! Title really says it. Curious on opinions and experiences.

For large 2110 facilities are you running all of our audio gear on the same physical switch fabric as all of your main 2110 video end points, or do you have a separate audio - AoIP - switch fabric? Or do you run audio devices on your control network and interconnect that VLAN back to the 2110 network?

It would be amazing to have low bandwidth audio devices hung off control network switches for ease of cable management, less switches (potentially), and flexibility. That said, it feels like added complexity as there will need to be connections from control —> 2110 switch fabrics. (PTP Included) There is something nice about having media leafs be media leafs and that’s it.

I should also note, we don’t plan to use Dante really at all. All AES67/2110-30.

If we do have a very small amount of Dante it’ll be extremely isolated to one spot or switch.

Disclosure up front: I work at Ant Media. We shipped a moq-lite relay recently, and I've been deploying and breaking it for a couple of weeks. Posting because most MoQ discussion is still theoretical, and I'd rather compare notes with people who've touched it.

Where it genuinely delivers:

• Publish from a browser and play back in another browser, no plugin, no SFU, no peer connection bookkeeping. That part is real, and it is a noticeably smaller amount of infrastructure than the WebRTC equivalent.
• The pub/sub model means the fan-out story is a caching problem rather than a connection-count problem. That's the whole pitch, and it holds up.
• Ingest is unchanged. WebRTC, RTMP, RTSP, and SRT, etc., in the front; MoQ out the back.

Nothing in the contribution chain has to know MoQ exists.

Where it doesn't yet:

• Safari below 26.4 can't play it. That alone rules out a lot of consumer-facing work for now.
• The standard is still moving. draft-20 is the interop target for the October interim. Anyone shipping today is shipping a subset — we ship moq-lite — and you should ask any vendor claiming "MoQ support" exactly which one and against what they've tested.
• Relay diversity is thin. Cloudflare is the deployment everyone points at. Self-hosting is possible, but you are early.

My honest read: it is at the stage where you should be running it in staging and forming an opinion, not where you should be migrating anything. The reason to look now is that the architecture question — do we keep running an SFU — gets easier to answer once you've seen it work.

Happy to share the deployment steps if anyone wants to reproduce it.

Regarding fiber converter modes: I work with LED panels and video processing, and I’d like to know if I can use my NovaStar VX1000 units in fiber converter mode—essentially using them as CVT units—to communicate with the NovaStar H-Series. Hey everyone! This is a bit of a Hail Mary, but I wanted to see if anyone here knew how to disable the volume encoder knob on the Ross MC-1 control panel. We just installed it in our operation but cannot find a way to disable that knob or function at all. Looked all through dashboard and no dice so far.

We have a lot of stations and I’m concerned it will be inadvertently moved, honestly it doesn’t take much to accidentally move it and it’s impacting the master audio level of our stations when it is.

Hi! I have this problem: need to playback video (h264) on laptop with Win10 in sync with LTC incoming via analog audio port (ordinary soudcard line-in). There is only one 1.5 hrs mp4 file, which we want to be played in sync with audio. Audio is on multitrack analog machine and we try to use one of the free track for LTC, routing it to laptop and use some software to play video in sync.

Is this possible without expensive professional software or additional hardware? Could XJAdeo help with this?

I'm not pretending this can compete with OBS or vMix on quality, features, or production reliability.
Those tools have years of hardening behind them. This is still alpha, and I wouldn't use it on a real show either.

That said, it's cross-platform (Windows + macOS + potentially Linux with Vulkan), the mixer core is Rust + wgpu, and OMT / NDI is a relatively strong part of it.
If you care about AV-over-IP, some of it might actually be useful.

I’ve heard through various parts of the industry that Meinberg PTP master clocks are “better”, but I’m curious what others have seen and experienced.

We have SPG9000’s now and are happy with them but it sounds like Meinberg may provide better accuracy and also someone to help you tune in your PTP?

Curious on any and all thoughts.

EDIT: Meinberg has done the entire superbowl compound several years in the past. And I know is installed in at least one very large national news outlet. They are timing experts but in broadcast sense I’m curious on pros and cons. Lastly, I’ve heard horrible things about Evertz’s GM, never heard someone recommended it.

Looking around the $2500 range for some new PTZs, and these are what the heavy hitters offer.

Which would you recommend overall?

This is for a church. It would be connected via SDI. Powered and controlled via POE and joystick.

Good auto tracking would be huge, but reliability is the most important.

I want to connect PS5 to a HDMI switch (remote controlled), and have it cabled to one TV, and stream to another. Both TV's are in the same room (approx 8m distance).

Would it work well? Or would the latency be annoying/make it impossible to play? Is there another solution for wireless streaming?

Hey all. I'm mulling over two thoughts and could use some perspective from folks who certainly have more experience with this than I do. I work in K12 Edu, and we handle the graduation stream. Of course, it's August so I am getting wayyy ahead of myself, but trying to test early and keep thoughts as fresh as possible.

New this year will be two PTZOptics Move SE cameras. There will be a 3rd camera (static wide-view shot) that will remain, so the focus here is isolated around the two PTZ cams. I'm debating two methods of remote PTZ control.

Option 1 - Bitfocus Companion with web emulator. I'm not that familiar with this app but I do have a working demo set up. No video preview, so I'd have to watch my AV guy's monitors if any small adjustments to zoom/etc are needed from my side. Feels like this adds a software layer into the mix (more complexity?), but it seems purpose-built, so perhaps that could be argued as a benefit.

Option 2 - Use the built in web UIs of the cameras. The controls I need seem to all be there, and I could easily use browser split view for cam1/left, cam2/right, which very closely mimics my current demo layout of the emulator in Bitfocus anyway. Video preview right in the same view of the controls is a nice bonus here that I don't have with Bitfocus.

The individual adjustments will likely only be if speaker1 is done and speaker2 comes up to the podium who is notably shorter/taller. I'd estimate 95% of our overall angle needs will be served entirely by presets alone. In the past with using manual cameras, there's inevitably that point we get to where things are running and set and it ends up going untouched for the latter 75% of the ceremony with some mild scene switching in OBS to take advantage of the different camera angles in place. I do plan to test more with other events that come up throughout the year but for now just trying to iron out some mixed thoughts.

EDIT - I've spent a little time tinkering around and I think this one approach might work (or at least it warrants testing to see how viable it is). I messed around in OBS and managed to set up a canvas perfectly sized for two sources, so figure cam1 sitting on top of cam2. I disabled/unchecked all docks so the OBS window is really stripped down, which makes it conveniently sized to snap to 1/3 screen on the right, and then leave Bitfocus Companion snapped at 2/3 size on the left. Then just do all my controls via Companion instead while leveraging OBS to be my video preview.

I kept going back to the web UI and two items weighed heavily on me. 1) the home button is remarkably close to the left/right/up/down arrow keys, so a misclick in the moment was a bit of a concern (I'm daydreaming about looking at the podium south, I go to notch the tilt up one click, hit home on accident, where home is looking at a cloud in the sky facing north -- lol...). 2) you can't name presets in the web UI, so I'd have to have a post-it or something saying preset 1 = stage wide, preset 2 = podium, etc. Compare to Companion where I simply name the actual button faces themselves... no brainer that that's a nice feature.

So basically, I can manipulate a local instance of OBS to be my video preview and lean on Companion to do the controls. No joystick in this scenario (yet), but I'm going to try the above with a less critical stream this fall and see how it does, and if need be, bump up to a joystick for the actual graduation gig later in the year.

I broadcast college football and ran into a weird one this week. We got a new DV Sport system for official replay, and it would not recognize the camera feeds I was sending from our Blackmagic URSA Broadcast G2 cameras or our ATEM. Everything is set to 1080p at 59.94 using Level A SDI.

It would see the feeds using whatever media preview software they use, but the actual DV Sport replay software would say “no signal.”

When we put a Decimator on the line it said the signals were 3GA-1080p5994. When they ran a test from their devices, the Decimator would read 3G-1080p5994, and their software read it just fine.

I had to back my system down to 1080i just to do our broadcast today, but ESPN wants us at 1080p, so something has to give.

What am I missing here?

Can anyone give a “ballpark” estimate on the price of livestream equipment for a board meeting room? 5 board members plus the CEO seated at a long curved table, 1 speaker’s lectern, and 1 recording secretary seated at another smaller table. I don’t have the actual dimensions of the room, but it holds the above plus about 30 spectator’s chairs.
I think 2 to 3 cameras would be enough, but I really don’t know. There is no sound system currently in the room. If you have any info or input you can share I thank you in advance!

I'm having a persistent sync issue with my Panasonic WJ-AVE5 video mixer and I'm looking for a recommended tech (local or mail-in) who can properly diagnose and fix it.
The Issue:
Color output works fine on internal overlays/menus.
Whenever a video source is plugged into Input A or Input B, moving the camera or changing scene brightness causes the image to heavily tear diagonally, drop color to black & white, and roll vertically.
As soon as the shot goes static, it attempts to lock back in, but any motion breaks horizontal/vertical sync completely.
What I Need:
I'm looking for a component-level tech or analog video restorer who can test the unit on an oscilloscope, trace the sync lines (suspecting the input sync coupling capacitors like C7/C8 or PSU ripple), and perform a repair/recap to get both channel inputs stable again.
I am located in Milton Keynes United Kingdom and am open to local drop-off or shipping the unit to a reliable tech.
If you offer repair services or know a trusted technician/shop in the community who handles vintage Panasonic video gear, please let me know!
