Goodwill has been operating since the early 1990s as a nonprofit organization. Because it is a registered charity, it also means Goodwill is largely exempt from charging sales tax on donated goods.

Has anyone else been told to avoid WNR/Sure Care for ultrasounds?

Has anyone else been advised by their doctor/midwife not to use Sure Care Diagnostics (formerly WNR) for ultrasounds?

I’m currently pregnant and trying to book my NT ultrasound in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. I’ve called several places and am having a really hard time finding availability.

During my last pregnancy, my doctor specifically told me that WNR (which I believe is now Sure Care Diagnostics) should be more of a “last resort” for ultrasounds. She mentioned something about having concerns with the quality/accuracy of their reports and said she had received reports from them that weren’t very good.

At the time I just took her word for it and went elsewhere, so I never really questioned it. Now I’m struggling to find an NT appointment and Sure Care actually has availability, so I’m wondering if this is still a concern.

Has anyone else heard this from their doctor/midwife? Or have you personally had a good or bad experience with Sure Care/WNR, particularly with pregnancy ultrasounds or NT scans?

I’m not looking for general complaints about wait times or bedside manner — I’m specifically wondering about the quality/accuracy of the ultrasound and radiologist report. Thanks!

Expressway Construction

It’s a 70 zone right? I’m not crazy? The signs say 70 when passing through the Victoria/Frederick part of the highway. Everyone driving through there goes at least 100, many people go 110 or 120, even though this is considered stunt driving (40km/h above limit, up to a year license suspension).

How come people are oblivious to the 70kmh speed limit here. It seems unsafe for the construction workers and even for the structure being made at Frederick.

Does having a good real estate agent matter for leasing a property?

Does anyone have any recommendations for a house in the Laurelwood area?

Looking for a good tint shop in Kitchener-Waterloo

Hey everyone!

I’m looking to get my car windows tinted and would love some recommendations for a reliable tint shop in the Kitchener-Waterloo area.

Main things I’m looking for:

\- Good quality ceramic tint

\- Clean/professional installation

\- Reasonable pricing

\- Ideally somewhere you’ve personally used

If you’ve had your windows tinted locally, who would you recommend and roughly how much did you pay?

Thanks in advance!

Minor Window Repair

Has anyone had any luck finding a window, or general contractor, willing to do a minor window repair? I have a window in which the sash lift has separated from the window and my attempts to fix will likely result in more damage. The window places i've reached out to either aren't willing, or suggest a whole window replacement.

If anyone knows from experience who would fix this for me, I'd be grateful.

Our family needs to commission a granite monument for a deceased family member. My understanding is the makers buy most of the granite from India and it can tale up to 2 years to get a stone done. Does anyone have any experience with this or suggestions? TIA

Best Burgers in the area?

Just moved from Toronto, looking to find the best Burgers in the area. What are some options? If anyone is familiar with the burger options in the GTA some of my favorites are Golden Star, Apache, Johnny's Hamburge and Magoos. Anything in that style?

Not to offend anyone but I have zero interest in any halal options. Burgers need bacon and beef bacon is terrible. Sorry not sorry.

Is WRHN trying to solicit donations by phone?

I just got a call that 80% sounded like it could be AI, and 20% chance it might have been a really nice man with a robotic voice who didn't even try to pivot from script. Trying to solicit donations for the Waterloo Region Health Network Foundation.

The phone display came up as a 'likely spam', and I am definitely not giving a credit card number over the phone to someone who calls me.

It was a fairly typical first ask --> no --> second ask --> no third ask --> no --> thank you for your time. But no 'human' reaction to when I mention something that they don't have a canned response for.

Are they actually doing fundraising this way, or is this this probably a scam? If anyone from the foundation sees this, maybe consider posting on your social media whether there's a scam going around. If it's legitimate, find a way to have your callers direct people to verifiable places.

Hi all, I am looking for physiotherapist in kwc area. Specifically looking because I think I might have irritated a nerve in my upper arm/neck as I had stiff shoulder for a few nights then I did a stretch but it caused a spasm in my upper arm which is still going for a week now. It's my first time going for a physiotherapy.

Guys Over 40 Bookclub?

Crossposting here - I've been thinking about an all guys bookclub for fellows over 40 that want to tackle genre fiction sure, but also classics and contemporary lit fic?

Maybe something from the International Booker shortlist like The Witch, a contemporary classic like The Goldfinch, the latest it book for the terminally online like Fruit Fly. It seems that dudes love sci-fi which we'll tackle but not exclusively.

Let me know if you're interested - got a few on the Kitchener subreddit that are interested as well.

Fun ideas for auntie and niece

I've got my niece (age 5) for a few days next week. I always like to take her to fun and novel places and I feel I might run out of ideas soon.

So far we've done

Cat Cafe in Guelph

Bunny Cafe in Fergus

Splash Pad

Always dollar store and going shopping

She does funvilla every so often

We're going to try

Unicorn Cafe

Butterfly Conservatory

She really loves animals, so animal places are a bonus.

Any go to items I missed? Probably within Waterloo Region or Guelph. We live in Woolwich township so we can probably travel about 30 minutes to fun places.

Sincerely,

Auntie who wants to win best Auntie competition
