Ok, so WWZ. The book written by Max Brooks. Slow shamblers. Undead. Bodily fluids transmission only. The zombies' blood is too congealed to bleed.

The point was as much to broadcast a clean win to the public as it was to kill zombies. They ended up broadcasting a catastrophic loss.

Max brooks had the zombies coming out of new York walk through artillery and gunship fire. Thermobaric munitions included.

The military was on the ground, in trenches they had just dug, in full chemical gear, on a notably hot summer.

Everyone I have ever seen talking about that scene says it makes no sense, and that Mark Hamil's voice does the heavy lifting.

How would you write it to get the same result? The point is that the US military has to lose in a way that achieve the exact opposite of the win they needed for propaganda?

Why wouldn’t people just move to rafts and boats that rely on solar to survive? I mean with the use of a vegetable gardens solar and wind energy a water desalination device and an electric motor you could totally just live out at sea correct? I mean I don’t think zombies can swim due to little to no muscle coordination and punctured lungs. plus the zombies would probably completely decompose after at most a few years? I mean I might be wrong with some crucial detail I’m missing or?

I first read the book about a decade ago, but revisiting it now, especially after the COVID pandemic, offered such a different perspective. I was shocked at how similarly the characters in the book handled (or mishandled) certain aspects of a global crisis, and I was particularly moved by the real toll the experience seemed to take on the folks who survived.

Anyway, I was compelled to share with other zombie fans. Apologies if this topic has already been explored.

I went in with no expectations and honestly just put it on to fall asleep to. It ended up sucking me in and I thoroughly enjoyed it. They do a great job of portraying the mass confusion and I love the concept of following the team in the radio station as they try to figure out what’s going on from callers. There were definitely some cheesy parts but this movie far exceeded my expectations.

Just a duking out game.
