Select/highlight blocked.

Has anyone noticed that some web pages don't allow you to select/highlight specific information? I frequently highlight specific information on a page, copy it, then look it up on another page or post it into a note for later. Especially when it's a web link that isn't active.

Is there any way around this?

It's as annoying as the "no screen shots allowed" rule!

Same issue with Google Messages - you have to copy the whole message. Why can't you just select a portion of it?!

Rooting Help Charging port on Android broken, can't connect in USB debugging mode.

Hello all, not sure if this is the right place for this but I'm giving it a go. I have an old Moto 5G that I don't use anymore, and was going to try and root it with Magisk to run Pi Hole on it through a Linux boot. However, the charging port is broken and my PC won't recognize it. I haven't rooted an android in years and I know the process is much more complicated than it used to be. Is there any workaround to root it properly without a wired connection or will I just have to bite the bullet and get the charging port replaced? Thanks!

How are you guys doing tap-to-pay without Google Wallet on a Redmi Note 11?

I'm trying to figure out a way to pay contactless here in Italy with my Redmi Note 11 since Google Wallet isn't an option for me. Has anyone in a similar situation found a solid workaround? I'm curious if Italian bank apps like BANCOMAT Pay work directly for tap-to-pay without needing Google's app, or if going with a wearable like an NFC Mi Band or smart ring is the easiest route. Also, if you managed to actually fix Google Wallet on this phone through software tweaks, I'd love to know what worked for you. Any advice or suggestions would be super helpful!

Device Settings Question Trying to identify the ACTUAL model of this Fuffi phone

I have this weird budget Android phone branded Fuffi, and I'm trying to figure out what the actual phone/model is underneath the Fuffi branding.

Android doesn't give me a real model name. ADB reports:

  • Manufacturer: Fuffi
  • Brand: Fuffi
  • Model: Phone
  • Device: Phone
  • Product: vnd_k61v1_64_bsp
  • Board: k61v1_64_bsp
  • SoC: MediaTek MT6761V/WBB
  • Android: 12
  • Screen: 720 Ɨ 1560
  • Firmware build: September 30, 2025
  • Build fingerprint: Redfox/Wizpad_Valuer_R10S/R10S:12/SP1A.210812.016/22220:user/release-keys

The interesting part is that the phone calls itself Fuffi everywhere, but the firmware fingerprint says Redfox/Wizpad Valuer R10S.

I also found references to other devices using the k61v1_64_bsp + MT6761 combination, so I'm not sure whether the Redfox/Wizpad name is the actual phone, a reference device, or just reused firmware.

The phone physically looks a lot like a Samsung Galaxy S-series phone, which makes me even more curious about what it actually is.

Does anyone recognize this platform or these identifiers?

I'm specifically trying to find the actual manufacturer, retail model/name, model number, or original device this hardware/firmware came from.

I can provide more ADB output or pictures of the phone if needed.

Problem with the phone's speaker

Hello there, 3 weeks ago I bought a new phone. I used it normally, then noticed weird sound after pausing the audio ("hisss" or something like that, not sure how to describe it) then click sound following it and then the stop.

About the clicking sound, I can hear it (or feel the vibration) even when scrolling or watching YouTube videos, I tried to update the phone to android 16 but no change. And today I heard a weird buzzing sound coming from the speaker 2 times only.

Note that the two first sounds needs a quiet place and focus to hear them and the buzzing sound you can hear it normally (it sounds more like the phone's lagging, but the phone works normally you only hear the sound).

Does anyone of you guys know the problem or went through similar thing?

Looking For Suggestions Browser with proper image pasting support?

I've noticed that I when I take a screenshot and try to paste it, I often get 'Chrome does not image pasting here'. I'm not sure if it's an issue with chrome or android in general. Expected behavior is I take screenshot and paste it instead of going to the gallery and copying from there.

Other Help revert Google Translate app back to reading text in native language?

Coincidentally someone else has this issue recently too - https://support.google.com/translate/thread/460601808/app-not-working-properly?hl=en&authuser=1

I use Google Translate app weekly. It just stopped working this week randomly. When I use camera mode and scan text > click listen > instead of saying the text in native language, it attempts to say it in English (incorrect so it sounds weird).

Issue seems phone/OS related, not app related. I tried it on my backup Android with same Google Translate app version, it works fine. I also tried switching Google accounts, no change, so it's not account related.

Why won't the Xiaomi 5 Plus unlock?

Hello!

I want to share my story about a Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus (MEG7) that still hasn’t come to an end. I’d like to hear your ideas and suggestions.

The phone was bought around 2018, and by mid-2019 it was successfully put on a shelf. It gathered dust there for another year — until 2020, when I decided to turn it on again.

I enter my password — it doesn’t accept it. Did I forget the password in a year? Unlikely. I clearly knew which digit combinations I liked. Although the brain can distort information — and I do take that into account.

Anyway, I couldn’t crack the password back then. The phone went back on the shelf — and stayed there until 2026, when I remembered the old guy again.

The phone allows password attempts every 5 minutes. I made a mix of my old passwords and common combinations, carried the phone with me literally everywhere, and entered options. I’ve already tried about 900 of them without repeats. Still nothing. I’m continuing.

The bootloader is most likely locked. Root rights probably aren’t there either.

Also, I noticed something strange — after several password attempts, the quick access to the camera and flashlight disappears. But if I turn the phone off, put it on charge, and turn it on after a while, everything appears again.

About the touchscreen: I checked it in emergency calls — all digits register correctly. Although the screen was cracked and has a ā€œspider webā€ on it.

I also saw a post where someone’s system stopped accepting the correct password, and a reboot helped. What do you think — can the system really glitch like this? Or what else could be the problem? Maybe after a huge number of attempts, the phone got permanently locked and I just can’t see it?

I’d be glad to hear from you, ladies and gentlemen, Xiaomi fans.

Looking For Suggestions recommendations for a pocket friendly compact android phone

my current device is glitching out and i need to upgrade soon, but phone sizes are completely out of hand. i managed to drop my phone directly on my face while checking notifications in bed, which made me realize how tired i am of unwieldy devices. one handed typing is a pain with small hands, and my pockets are barely big enough to keep it secure. i tested out some demo phones at a local store today, but everything felt overly wide and heavy.

do flip style foldables make sense as a primary device if you drop your phone often?

Floating windows without external display

Originally posted this on r/GrapheneOS, but it was removed.

I really want to use my Pixel 8A running graphene like a desktop computer with floating windows without using an external display. I don't care how inconvenient to use or inapropriate this sounds. From what I understand, in older versions of Android (and graphene) this was not difficult to achieve, it involved flipping a setting in developer options, or using ADB; I have tried following these instructions and others like them, without success. I have tried using apps such as taskbar and smartdock but I seem to be encountering this bug. I know graphene can behave this way with a mouse and keyboard when attatched to an external display, but I want to use the internal display. It seems to work on the tablet version of graphene. I know this type of functionality is not the priority of the developers and probably has more to do with decisions from AOSP, but does anyone have any idea how I might persuade graphene to behave the same way as the tablet version, or, is there a way to simulate a virtual display (and send input to it by touching it, unlike the virtual display developer options) or some other way to bodge this to work? I also wondered if the table of config settings here is a clue, but I'm not sure where these described config settings are saved or how to change them.

Phone compromised?

I keep getting notifications that an app has full system access and play protect is off. I posted before about having random ads this appears to be related to that. The app that has full access is called android system. If it's a legit app why am I getting warnings. I have to turn play protect back on every time I delete the app. Does anybody have any insight? I'm not sure how deep I can dig into the software due to the phone being provided by a government program.

Changing default navigation app

I am in a galaxy s22 and am unable to find out how to switch my default navigation app to something other than Google maps. I have tried the following:

  1. Going to apps-->default apps and selecting a new navigation map as default. You see this as the suggested way on lots of freferences, but maps/navigation is not listed as a category for me to select a default for. Which leads me to the other thing that is often suggested...

  2. Got to an app in the app list, then selects set as default and have the desired app set to "open supported links" while ensuring that Google maps has the same option disabled.

  3. Doing (2) but after restarting the phone, reinstalling the various mapping apps, etc.

None of this seems to actually switch the default navigation app, because as soon as I do anything like click on "get directions" on a website, it opens Google maps.

So how do I actually change the default map/navigation app in android?

Other How can I SAFELY make emojis in the X/Twitter Android app look like Apple/iOS emojis?

I want emojis inside the X/Twitter Android app to appear using Apple/iOS-style emoji designs.

That’s the entire goal. I’m not looking for an iOS-style keyboard or a way to send different emojis.

I want the emojis I see while using X, including emojis in tweets, replies, and profiles, to visually look like Apple’s emojis instead of the normal Android/Samsung style.

Is there any completely free and safe way to do this without rooting my phone or installing sketchy APKs?

Device Settings Question Hide Navigation Bar on Android 16?

Is there a way to auto hide the navigation bar in Android. I'm using a Sony Xperia 1 VIII on Android 16 and it doesn't have any options to do so in the system settings as its on almost stock Android. I've tried using OpenNavbar but while it customizes a new overlay bar which can be hidden. The stock navigation bar is still present, can't be customized or hidden. Can't use Shizuku for now. Can anyone help?

Getting daily data charges even with data button off - is it Android or my phone company?

I've always had Android, the same phone company, and a prepaid plan rather than a monthly plan, and I've had this issue happen to me through different devices: my data button is off, I'm connected to a stable WiFi, yet suddenly I get a text message saying I'm being charged for data. This used to happen randomly, sometimes more often, sometimes it would go a long time without it happening. I know other people who've had the same happen to them, and I've looked it up online and saw it's an issue worldwide. What I typically do is let it run out of credit and buy more only when I need it, which is annoying if I ever need data in an emergency (and have no way of buying it on account of... not having an internet connection).

I have complained to my phone company about this several times, even filed a consumer complaint this year, asking them if they're doing this to make us prepaid users spend more money (I don't make calls and am rarely not connected to WiFi, so I have zero need for a plan). They insist it's a problem of my device running background data. This makes no sense to me, and they're not able to clarify how this could happen. If I have no WiFi and my data button is off, and I step outside and open any app, like Instagram, it's not going to work. The information I've found online is mixed: some say it's the device, some say it's the phone company (even though different companies around the world seem to have this issue).

Anyway, I was prepared to deal with this forever, but now this is happening Every. Single. Day. Every day at around 6 am I get a text message saying I'm being charged for data. The reason why this is relevant to the sub is that I got an Android update shortly before this started happening, so now I'm seriously considering that theory. I've already tried the advice of disabling background data usage for all apps, and all the data saving settings I could find, and nothing. I currently have a lot of credit that I got when I settled for my complaint to the phone company, so that's why it hasn't run out yet.

Is it possible that it is an Android issue after all? Is there anything at all I could do to stop this from happening?

Phone is Samsung A33, Android v. 16, One UI 8.0
